Dil Se Indian Cuisine
Favorite Indian restaurant in Portland. The malai kofta is amazing, the samosas are fragrant and never doughy, the naan are wonderfully chewy and the vegetable uttapam is refreshing and bright. Personally, I appreciate the contemporary look to the place and enjoy the friendly owner. What keeps this a four star rather than five is that some dishes are not as good ... like the aloo gobi, which looked great but had little flavor ... and the prices are too high. My favorite, the kofta, is brilliant, but for its size, it’s spendy.
Outstanding menu and quality! The salmon tandoori was unique and new--a new favorite. The cauliflower fritter appetizer was wonderful as well. Taj Mahal beer paired well. The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance which provides a relaxing setting.
It is a great place.
Wonderful hospitality, great food.
Very authentic Southern Indian cuisine. Looking forward to return visits.
We loved the food and will definitely go back again!
Excellent food, outstanding service--what's not to like?
I enjoy Indian food and was very happy to see Dil Se move into the space that had been vacated by a prior restaurant (which I had also very much enjoyed!) in my neighborhood. My granddaughter and her boyfriend have had limited exposure to Indian food, but they both also enjoyed the meal.
Fabulous Indian spot in Portland that has both North and South Indian options, warm and welcoming service and delicious dishes. It was so good, we were back twice in one week!
Our standards for Indian food are pretty high as we often go to restaurants in the UK. Although this was our first time at Dil Se, we were welcomed like old friends. Every dish was delicious and very spicy as we requested. We'll be back next time we are in Portland.
Always enjoy supper here. Easy to be a vegetarian and enjoy rich flavor! Meat eaters at the table were well-pleased, too.
Very tasty dishes at very reasonable prices. Spinach pakoras are wonderful. Enough for leftovers. Service was a bit slow despite restaurant being fairly empty at early hour.
This was our first visit on the recommendation of a friend. Very good. Food was delicious, service was great, and the chai was a good finish. Definitely recommend.
Such wonderful food! Such nice people. I don’t know why this place isn’t more crowded all the time.
The flavors and sauces were outstanding and had the service been a bit more attentive the overall rating could have been higher. The ambiance could use a little work but the folks were friendly and the food was a great value. Vindaloo was my favorite!
Some items suggested by staff as “not spicy” for kids turned out very spicy
Dinner at Dil Se was very busy, but as always the food was excellent. The chicken tikka Dosa was perfect, as was the lamb saag.
The food was delicious. Just spicey enough. I had the lamb curry. Wine list not extensive but very reasonably priced. Service very friendly.
Gonfor dinner at least six times a year. Always a treat.
The food was very tasty and appreciated by all 3 of us. Service was prompt.
I highly recommend Dil Se if you are craving Indian food. It's the best I've had in Portland.
The atmosphere in the evening is romantic, and the food is delicious.
A delightful surprise for a special family dinner before a show! We loved it and had no left overs and we ALWAYS have leftovers!
Tasty Indian food with many gluten-free options; delightful and prompt service; great value
Hard to select a few items from an interesting menu. The good news is that we haven't been disappointed with any choice yet.
The cooks at Dil Se know how to bring out the most delicious flavors in every dish!
Fresh delicate seasoning, refined.
The food and service were excellent. We would not order cocktails there again, because they are very weak. The wine was good and fairly priced.
I was really impressed today on my first visit. It has a relatively large menu and there were few items I would not like to try. My wife and I shared the Samosas to start and then had the Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Vindaloo - Great. Will be back soon to try more of the menu options.
Hadn't been here before as I was visiting Portland but I dined with local family and we all remarked on how good the food was. Nice staff, great food, quiet so we could hear each other. l would eat here often if I lived in Portland.
Good food. Average service.
We went to Dil Se for Father's Day. We were craving Indian and have not been able to find a good restaurant since moving here four years ago. I checked out the positive reviews on Open Table and decided to give it a try. We were so glad we did. The food was amazing, very authentic and delicious. The service was friendly and fast. Only call outs that may need addressing are: there is a big ugly fish tank that looks like it has not been attended to for months. I am not sure if there is anything living in there, but it wasn't exactly "appetizing"to look at. Secondly, the booths and tables need a deep cleaning-looks like there were some spills that did not come out with a light wipe. Overall, we were thrilled and will be back again.
The very best Indian food in town with moderate price levels for the quality of the food. Everyone I have taken there has gone back which is a great sign. Much better than West Side cafe which was in the location prior to Del Se
Very tasty, relatively new Indian restaurant in a quiet, casual setting. Just up the street from two other Indian eateries that aren't as good as the used to be :/ and serving giant dosas! Beer selection could be better, but the food is great and that's the important part.
Amazing as always!
Excellent food and service. Best Indian food we have had to date in Portland metropolitan area. Looking forward to our next visit here.
Great salmon and good service. Good recommendations for dishes to try.
Food-awesome. Staff was very attentive and polite.
Amazing innovative food. Highly recommend.
