Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Amazing food with attentive service. We arrived for an 'early' dinner and were seated immediately in a booth. Each course was fantastic - our main meals were steaks, with some seafood added. Our waitstaff was attentive and gracious - it was a team approach and worked very well. Plan to spend time as this is worth the time. Save room for dessert too :)
Susie and Brant were nothing short of amazing. We flew in from NYC for my birthday and We had a sensational evening with cocktails and lots of delicious food. The dessert was delicious. We even sang along with the men singing around our table. My birthday was a blast. Thank you so much.
Very kind staff whom seem to really care and become apart of their guests' celebration! Treated us with extra special care. Made it fun, yet not diminishing the fine dining experience! Awesome Birthday night for me! The dishes were filled with great taste, exemplary of fine cooking and expertise!
Enjoyed our lunch at Dickie Brennan's but came away a little disappointed. We came to town with the singular purpose of visiting several Brennan Family establishments for lunch during the holiday season. We understood each of restaurants provided Christmas Bells at lunch during December. Apparently this location does not participate in the tradition until the two weeks before Christmas instead of all of December, so no bells for us. Overall the food and service were excellent including the $1 special cocktails. Highly recommend, but if you want Christmas Bells check the schedule.
The table was not ready on time, we were originally seated at a table and were allowed to change to a booth, the dining room was exceptionally loud for an 8:45 reservation. The food was really good from appetizer to the desert. The market price for one crab cake was $30. Overall the experience was really good and I would recommend it to friends, but for it to be considered romantic, it is entirely too loud, and a later reservation would probably be recommended since it got quieter as the night went on.
They are known for their steaks. However, we both found our filets to be very bland. The sides were descent but nothing you do not find in every other upscale restaurant. This was my third visit here and had hoped I just had back luck the first two times. There will not be a fourth. Very bland and flavorless steaks.
Dickie Brennan's saving grace was that the food was amazing. The service? Not so much. I made the reservation for my birthday dinner two months in advance, and we still waited 10-15 minutes past our reservation time. I appreciated the balloons on our table, but then my husband had to order FOUR beers off the menu before finally choosing one that was actually available, with the server running back and forth to check every time. When she finally came back with his beer, she also brought me a cocktail that was NOT the one I ordered. She said the first round was on the house since there were so many issues, so she bought me a champagne cocktail free "while I waited for my other drink." I finished that cocktail and had to ask repeatedly to receive the cocktail I actually ordered from both her and our other server. It seemed like there was no communication between them. Eventually another one of the same cocktail I already had was brought to me (basically by the time I finished my meal), and I explained AGAIN how I was waiting for the actual drink I ordered when we first sat down, and I didn't order or want a second champagne cocktail. Finally the waitress came back and said they were not able to make me the cocktail I actually ordered, so she just decided to bring another of the "free" cocktails to me without actually explaining the issue. By that point I was frustrated and didn't understand how there were so many issues with the availability of their drink menu or why they didn't communicate that with me earlier, and I was just ready to leave. I didn't even want the free birthday dessert. Service can make or break an experience, and unfortunately, due to that, we will not be back.
We went for a nice Anniversary dinner and were not disappointed. The staff was great, and the food was excellent! My husband had the prime rib with cream spinach and I had the ribeye Oscar style with au gratin potatoes, the steaks were cooked perfectly and the crab was very fresh, the potatoes and spinach were also very good. The bread pudding was also excellent. This is a great place for a nice romantic dinner, we will be back.
We went for our first Thanksgiving out experience. The place is very nice. However, all the food was overcooked. They ran out of some items. We expected this. When we asked the waitress of we could get something different, she said she would have to ask. I told her we would pay extra and she rolled her eyes. Horrible food, terrible service!! I've been letting everyone know NOT to go there.
Of all the restaurants in New Orleans, Dickie Brennan's was adequate, but not particularly notable in any category. The turkey breast (Thanksgiving) was a bit dry. The mashed potatoes and green beans were very good. Others in the party had steak, which was tasty and properly prepared. However, the pontalba potatoes were too "busy" and seemed overcooked. The thickened creamed spinach appeared to have too much corn starch. The sweet potato doberge cake and French toast bread pudding were good. The serving sizes were generous. The wait staff was pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable.
This restaurant has been my favorite steak house for many years but the last two visits have been less than inspiring. Sunday night’s meal was OK, but the service was far below their normal standard. I thought my previous visit was an anomaly but this most recent visit was the same. I think I am going to give them a break. My steak, ordered medium, came out nearly raw. There was no carmelization on the outside of the steak. It took nearly five minutes to get my waitress to take it back and cook it properly. Drink glasses were empty and it took 30 minutes after they cleared the table to get my check. The restaurant was not that busy, and it became frustrating. The staff was very nice when they were there, but they just weren’t there very much.
