Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
The service was terrific, Troy was as a trip!. Every steak and prime rib ordered at our table was over cooked. We only sent one back as med-rare showed up well done. No one likes to ever send food back, I hate writing a review about a bad meal. The apps were good, the crab cake is simple lump crab in the shape of a cake and was tasty. My expectation of a Brennan prime steak house being one of the best was disappointing.
Worst dining experience I have ever had in New Orleans- and there is no close second. The staff made errors on every course, and disappeared for 20 minutes at a time. I had them check 4 times on the status of our entrees, which wound up taking 1 hour and 15 minutes to receive after our salads/entrees- which, by the way, were wrong as well. The manager came over to apologize, and wound up comping us one cocktail “for our troubles”- what a joke. Food was OK, but not great for the price. Would never, ever, EVER dine here again.
We dined here the week after Mardi Gras. The restaurant was busy and bustling. Our servers were helpful and attentive. Both my husband and I had to send our steaks back because they weren’t cooked the way we ordered, but our server handled it well and got us new steaks quickly. Our favorite items were the turtle soup, creamed corn, prime rib and lobster. Would recommend for a great steak dinner.
Have to say we were generally disappointed.
Nothing was terribly wrong, just sort of “meh.” Perhaps our expectations were too high. The steak was a solid 3 out of 5 Stars and the housemade Worcestershire sauce was a home run. My wife’s shrimp dish with the heads still on was not very appetizing, and IMO not a good decision on the chef’s part for the typical American palate. Their onion rings were very disappointing: soggy and bland. Great service overall and their bar is nice with a shout-out to bartender Madison. We would probably return for cocktails and an app at the bar, but dine elsewhere.
Recommended to us by locals to try during our visit to Mardi Gras. Thankfully parking was convenient, unlike most of NO. Arrived early, enjoyed the bar. Matt was congenial and engaging. We were promptly seated and served by three wait staff. Our expectations were exceeded. We, of course, had steak, added a lobster tail as well. The only things I would suggest is make sure the bread is hot and fresh before serving ( our first piece was cool and dry) and I would prefer the drawn butter in a ramekin served in a butter warmer to keep it hot. One other thing, a true Caesar Salad has the anchovies blended into the dressing rather than draped over the lettuce (the option of without anchovies was offered). Finally, the dessert menu that was verbally given was somewhat limited compared to the published menu. Disappointed because we had hoped for bananas foster though I had the bananas cheesecake which was disappointing. My wife had the creme brulee, which she enjoyed. I must also compliment the maitre d as I encountered him several times outside the dining room and he always addressed me by name and expressed his desire to see our needs were met throughout the evening. Overall a relaxed enjoyable evening, never feeling rushed, always properly attended to and above all, superb steak. Bon Apetite!
I can’t say enough about our dinner! 4 adults and a well behaved 2 year old....we had the large filets, ribeye, and a lobster tail. Salads were delicious. Gumbo was great (and I’m a local), steaks were cooked perfectly, our sides were Augratin potatoes, asparagus, and onion rings which were all worth ordering again, and lastly for dessert, we had the French toast bread pudding which was amazing!!!! They did offer a kid’s menu also! We will be back!
Dickie Brennan's steakhouse was wonderful! We had steak & lobster, along with bread pudding and cheesecake for dessert. It was recommended to us by a friend & I would 100% recommend this restaurant to someone as well. We will definitely be going back next time we visit New Orleans!
Fabulous service, delicious food and great wine. I recommend the turtle soup, it was delicious. The filet melted in my mouth. You must save room for desert. The banana foster cheesecake combined my two favorite deserts and it did not disappoint. It will be our must go to place next trip.
This was our first time at Dickie Brennan's and we will be back. The food was excellent and the service even better. The manager, Lou, as well as our servers Corey and Michi were great. They went above and beyond to make sure our dinner, and our experience was perfect. My only request is to please start serving Blue Moon again.
Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Dickie Brennans went out of their way setting us 14 gorgeous women up in a private dining room with balloons, birthday sprinkles and a birthday crème brûlée with candles. It didn’t stop there. They brought in a jazz trio that harmonized birthday wishes along with a few other tunes. Talented gentlemen! The food was outstanding! We ordered sides to share including au gratin potatoes, mushrooms , and truffled Mac n cheese. From steak tartare to a large crab cake without bread crumbs ( sweetly delicate and made up of only crab) to fried oysters , pork belly with scallops , a Napoleon tomatoe combination with red onion and blue cheese dripped with a thousand island -style dressing & toast point to the escargot served in bone marrow. All was perfectly prepared and executed to the table with a caring team of waitstaff. Wine was always available and drinks barely emptied before the next round arrived.
Enjoyed everything! Oh, and we’ll be back for that bananas foster cheesecake. One bite shared was not enough.
Thank you for a memorable night and for finding our friend’s credit card.
Anniversary celebration . We shared 2 sides besides our entree. The sides were divided and beautifully presented. The side of au gratin potatoes was outstanding-perhaps the best I’ve ever had. As a special note we were presented with the dessert of our choice to celebrate our special day.
