Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant has been my favorite steak house for many years but the last two visits have been less than inspiring. Sunday night’s meal was OK, but the service was far below their normal standard. I thought my previous visit was an anomaly but this most recent visit was the same. I think I am going to give them a break. My steak, ordered medium, came out nearly raw. There was no carmelization on the outside of the steak. It took nearly five minutes to get my waitress to take it back and cook it properly. Drink glasses were empty and it took 30 minutes after they cleared the table to get my check. The restaurant was not that busy, and it became frustrating. The staff was very nice when they were there, but they just weren’t there very much.
We had a group of 7 of us and the duration for the meal took over 3 hours which was partly on us and partly on the service. Lots of bumps throughout but the Food was amazing and at the end they made it all right. I wouldn't go back because I've now been there and there are plenty of other places in New Orleans that I want to try.
The food was delicious and the service impeccable. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. I have a food allergy and when I said this to the server, he went back to the kitchen and made sure that every thing I ordered did not contain this. Thank you for taking such good care of us at dinner.
The food was outstanding. However the service was poor. They didn’t get my wife’s order right and seemed really put out when we asked for it to be corrected. it was the support staff that took care of the incorrect order. The main waiter did a drive-by once or twice but never followed up on how our meal was or if there was anything that could be done. I’m not sure the main waiter or even knew or cared that our food was brought out incorrectly.
What a fantastic find! From the moment we entered the establishment we were treated like royalty. Our waiter had expansive knowledge about wine and Napa Valley. He spent so much time speaking with us and never seemed rushed. The prime rib and porterhouse were fabulous!
Celebrated my husband’s birthday with family. The food was delicious. Steaks are their specialty, but their seafood is great as well. The service was excellent. Everyone was very attentive, polite and accommodating. I highly recommend Dickie Brennan’s for celebrating special occasions. It’s on my favorites list now.
We've been to Dickie Brennan's about ten times and every time was a 5 start dinner until Friday night. Before Friday night it had been 2 years since we've been. However, there must be new management or a new chef because our meal was awful. All 5 steaks were sent back for them being cooked at wrong temperature or cold. After sending them back a steak they over cooked they undercooked and then they didn't even bring out new steaks but instead reheated the old steaks which weren't even warmer the second time around. Our wait staff was average at best and the manager was nice enough to pick up the bill but it was not a pleasant experience. We may come back but will probably try another steakhouse in the area next time.
I have mixed feelings about Dickie Brennan's, but I would definitely try it again.
I put dessert at the top because, well, it deserves it. The bread pudding and cheesecake were ridiculously good and a lot of the cake going by looked amazing as well. I wish I had had room (and enough insulin) to try more!
Inside it is a classic wood paneled, white tablecloth steakhouse. The wait staff was attentive and helpful but were a bit out of place with the level of service/quality of restaurant Dickie's is trying to be. Just an observation, definitely not something that would keep me away.
The menu is almost typical high end steakhouse, though it was missing the usual seafood appetizer fare. There were few options, but those offered were to the point with some being too unique to pass up. The bone marrow escargots were delicious as were the salads and the gumbo.
My dinner guests all ordered filets of differing sizes and enjoyed them quite a bit (benchmarking against Bern's in Tampa, FL). We managed to all order loaded baked potatoes which did not disappoint, but in our meat-fed frenzy we managed not to order anything green as a side - oh well, healthy next time!
I had the prime rib which was an excellent cut of beef but was poorly cooked. Even when asked for rare, a restaurant should never serve beef where the fat is hard and white. I probably should have sent it back but I hate to be 'that guy'. It was such a terrific cut (short end of the rib) that I ate most of it anyway.
All in all I would give it another go, being more specific about my preference for how the prime rib is served.
