Everything was good
Although the location and service were both excellent, the food was 3rd rate and very overpriced. Items on the menu seemed appealing but were poorly executed with low quality ingredients. Disappointing.
Good food, good service, good ambiance, but overpriced for what you get. Very convenient when attending an event at the Hobby Center and I go there often because of my season tickets for TUTS and Broadway Series, but that does not make up for being overpriced compared to other restaurants.
The ambiance is excellent, but don't go for lunch unless you have extra time. One of my guests had to leave because our order had not been taken in a reasonable amount of time. I had to ask twice for my ice tea. My lunch was fine, but my other guest sent hers back because the crab cakes were dry and hard. This is not what I had experienced when dining at this location in the past. Hopefully, it was a very off day rather than being the new norm. I won't be back any time soon.
Love the restaurant and people! We are season subscribers to TUTS and each at Diana's every time we go the theatre!
I had an amazing lunch at Diane American Grill. They have really improved their food. The chips and dip that you start out with were delicious. They are making them thicker and changed the dip. So good! Of course, we had their soup because it is absolutely the best soup ever. Today, I tried the gulf snapper. Wow! I can’t wait to order this again. Just a side note, as we were escorted to our table, we were told that our waitress was new. You’d never had known it. Shae took great care of us. We never wanted for anything. I would absolutely sit in her section again. We finished our meal with their cheesecake. I can’t say enough about this incredible dessert. After eating Diane American Grill’s cheesecake, you will never want cheesecake at another restaurant. We just had a wonderful experience today. Thank you, Diane American Grill!
We enjoyed the atmosphere of the restuarant and very much appreciated the service if our wait staff, Selina. We also liked how the manger walked around and checked in with us about our meal.
Worst experience ever
Soup was lukewarm and flavorless. No seasoning. Had to send crab cakes back because they were literally cold. They didn’t make new ones - just reheated what we sent back. Chef apologized and gave us card for free crab cakes on next visit. Ha! Why didn’t they comp them? I can’t use the credit because I won’t be returning...
Fantastically convenient prior to or after theater! Bright, light and pleasant in the day time and elegant views of downtown at night. Enjoy a varied menu of choices that will (or should) meet everyone's desires. I especially recommend the house salad and the lobster mac and cheese side dish - together they make a great meal.
Maurice was an amazing waiter! He was attentive without hovering and knew the menus well enough to make great suggestions.
The food was excellent, as usual, and the service was great. Our server was Oseas, and he was attentive to our needs without hovering. Much appreciated.
In the Hobby Center, connects to TUTS Theater so really convenient if you are going to the theater. Fast service since they know many customers are going to the theater. Highly recommended.
Great food and service. We’ll be back!
As always, Diana American Grill came through with delicious food, delicious wine and the friendliest service. This is the perfect pre-show dining spot for the Hobby Theatre. Our waitress, Angie, was delightful and very helpful with her suggestions. The proprietor, Marcello, knows wine very well and can suggest wonderful wines to go with any dish. We’ll book at Diana for every show!
Celebrating my deceased mothers birthday with my sisters then the show
We arrived a few minutes after 6pm with theatre tickets for 7:30. Waitress eventually got drinks and entree order. then came back and asked for entree order again. in the meantime people all around us who arrived after us were eating. but not us. eventually the three orders came. all were cold. not warm. cold. it was returned. shortly after 7pm the entrees arrived again. manager came by and comped dessert. all in all not a pleasant experience. we were rushed to make the theatre and took our drinks with us
Love Diana. My friend and I go there every time we go to a show and the fabulous service and food are consistent every time
Enjoyed our experience - not fond of the food, but I think it was just a bad choice on my part... I would go again and order something different!
A bit pricey but worth the splurge. Angie was our server and she was super helpful.
Our waiter was not organized at all, and he was very short in his answers - bad day?
The soup as always was spectacular. Wendell, our server, did an excellent job taking care of us. The restaurant was crowded but we never even noticed because everyone made sure we had everything we needed. We finished our meal with the cheesecake. This has to be hands down the best in the city. The nut crust is amazing! We have reservations for the next few Hobby Center shows and can’t wait to return.
Perfect and convenient restaurant the play
The service was excellent this time, and the food was great. We finished dinner in time to have dessert, and it did not disappoint. We will definitely go back before the theater.
The service from Maurice was exceptional. The food was good but not great. The lobster on the surf & turf was ice cold. Drinks & dessert very good. It is a good place for convenience when going to the theater but wouldn’t go there otherwise.
Even when the restaurant is full, the service and food are outstanding. Always something new on the menu to try.
Great food, ambience and service. The restaurant was very crowded so it was kind of noisy. Only complaint I have.
We had some drink-pricing issues on our last visit and Marcello responded/apologized. We met Marcello this time and had a very nice chat. The salmon my wife had was done perfectly, the prime rib I had was excellent, and the lemon cheesecake dessert was outstanding.
We definitely will be back.
While the appetizers were as food as ever, the Caribbean style crab cakes while wrm, were dried out. We asked for additional sauce to help moisten the crab cakes.
The wine selection was excellent and paired well with the food.
Family went before a play. Great service. Marcello was a wonderful host. The order included the Red Snapper, Rigatoni Pasta and Filet Mignon. Every dish was perfect. Of course, a nice wine list is available as well as wonderful cocktails. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and look forward to going back soon.
This was it - one last try to be fair and really give it an honest shot (third times the charm they say). Ordered Prosecco, waiter brought Moscato and got an attitude when I asked him to exchange it (there’s a price difference - AND it’s not what I ordered). From that point forward his friendly demeanor was reserved for the tables surrounding us and he stopped by our table ONLY to ask if we wanted dessert and to give us our check. And believe me - we tried MANY TIMES to get his attention for drink refills and even for an extra utensil when my dinner guest dropped hers. The salmon and carmelized cauliflower was good but I hoped for a more flavorful experience based on the menu’s description. Also, it arrived at the table fewer than 5 minutes after we ordered - so the freshness of preparation was highly suspect. I just cannot justify the price ($120 with tip) with inattentive (somewhat dismissive) staff and good but not outstanding food.
I am saddened because the location is wonderful. If the staff were outstanding, I would still come to this restaurant - to me, they are its biggest liability. The staff’s behavior (and slack appearance - the hostess had on dangling HUGE Oujia board earrings - that doesn’t scream high-class fine dining establishment) is enough to send me down the road.
The convenience of being the Hobby center makes this restaurant a good choice. The prices are high for what you get and as expected everyone is there to see the play so service stretched and not great. Our server was polite but overworked. Took forever just to get water. Other places that offer shuttles to the play downtown would be our first choice. Better food, better service for same price.
Great food and great service, but not the place to go if you’re looking for value for your dollar.
Very nice place to have lunch before a show. Arthur was our waiter and he was very attentive to our needs. The food was well prepared and tasty.
Excellent restaurant, fine dining next to the doors to the theatre. Elgy our waitress was outstanding! highly recommended
It was a very disappointing experience after getting consistently high quality food and service when it used to be Artista. First the waiter was terrible, he lacked personality and had a way of creating awkwardness every time he approached our table and/or we had a request or question. Then the food... my friend and I ordered the rainbow trout and we could taste the oil that it was cooked in and it wasn't a pleasant taste that unfortunately lingered through the rest of the night. The spinach had no flavor and was dry and the steak fries were soggy. The wine and chocolate cake were the only good things we had. Given the prices we were expecting much better and do not recommend this place which is unfortunately conveniently located in the Hobby theatre.
The restaurant is beautiful; food was excellent; server was a little passive/aggressive (said he'd give us a few minutes, but kept coming back quickly, not giving us enough time to review menu - then after we finished our meal, he didn't come back to ask us about dessert very promptly).
We visited Diana not long after it opened and I had previously written a partly negative review. The chef Marcello contacted me and persuaded me to return. Glad we did. Everything was excellent. They've gotten over the initial issues and now are a great place to eat. There were four of us, we all had different dinners and appetizers, and all were good. We'll eat at Diana every time we go to a show at TUTS, and some times even if we're not going to the theater. Highly recommended.
