Enjoyed our experience - not fond of the food, but I think it was just a bad choice on my part... I would go again and order something different!
A bit pricey but worth the splurge. Angie was our server and she was super helpful.
Our waiter was not organized at all, and he was very short in his answers - bad day?
The soup as always was spectacular. Wendell, our server, did an excellent job taking care of us. The restaurant was crowded but we never even noticed because everyone made sure we had everything we needed. We finished our meal with the cheesecake. This has to be hands down the best in the city. The nut crust is amazing! We have reservations for the next few Hobby Center shows and can’t wait to return.
Perfect and convenient restaurant the play
The service was excellent this time, and the food was great. We finished dinner in time to have dessert, and it did not disappoint. We will definitely go back before the theater.
The service from Maurice was exceptional. The food was good but not great. The lobster on the surf & turf was ice cold. Drinks & dessert very good. It is a good place for convenience when going to the theater but wouldn’t go there otherwise.
Even when the restaurant is full, the service and food are outstanding. Always something new on the menu to try.
Great food, ambience and service. The restaurant was very crowded so it was kind of noisy. Only complaint I have.
We had some drink-pricing issues on our last visit and Marcello responded/apologized. We met Marcello this time and had a very nice chat. The salmon my wife had was done perfectly, the prime rib I had was excellent, and the lemon cheesecake dessert was outstanding.
We definitely will be back.
While the appetizers were as food as ever, the Caribbean style crab cakes while wrm, were dried out. We asked for additional sauce to help moisten the crab cakes.
The wine selection was excellent and paired well with the food.
Family went before a play. Great service. Marcello was a wonderful host. The order included the Red Snapper, Rigatoni Pasta and Filet Mignon. Every dish was perfect. Of course, a nice wine list is available as well as wonderful cocktails. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and look forward to going back soon.
This was it - one last try to be fair and really give it an honest shot (third times the charm they say). Ordered Prosecco, waiter brought Moscato and got an attitude when I asked him to exchange it (there’s a price difference - AND it’s not what I ordered). From that point forward his friendly demeanor was reserved for the tables surrounding us and he stopped by our table ONLY to ask if we wanted dessert and to give us our check. And believe me - we tried MANY TIMES to get his attention for drink refills and even for an extra utensil when my dinner guest dropped hers. The salmon and carmelized cauliflower was good but I hoped for a more flavorful experience based on the menu’s description. Also, it arrived at the table fewer than 5 minutes after we ordered - so the freshness of preparation was highly suspect. I just cannot justify the price ($120 with tip) with inattentive (somewhat dismissive) staff and good but not outstanding food.
I am saddened because the location is wonderful. If the staff were outstanding, I would still come to this restaurant - to me, they are its biggest liability. The staff’s behavior (and slack appearance - the hostess had on dangling HUGE Oujia board earrings - that doesn’t scream high-class fine dining establishment) is enough to send me down the road.
The convenience of being the Hobby center makes this restaurant a good choice. The prices are high for what you get and as expected everyone is there to see the play so service stretched and not great. Our server was polite but overworked. Took forever just to get water. Other places that offer shuttles to the play downtown would be our first choice. Better food, better service for same price.
Great food and great service, but not the place to go if you’re looking for value for your dollar.
Very nice place to have lunch before a show. Arthur was our waiter and he was very attentive to our needs. The food was well prepared and tasty.
Excellent restaurant, fine dining next to the doors to the theatre. Elgy our waitress was outstanding! highly recommended
It was a very disappointing experience after getting consistently high quality food and service when it used to be Artista. First the waiter was terrible, he lacked personality and had a way of creating awkwardness every time he approached our table and/or we had a request or question. Then the food... my friend and I ordered the rainbow trout and we could taste the oil that it was cooked in and it wasn't a pleasant taste that unfortunately lingered through the rest of the night. The spinach had no flavor and was dry and the steak fries were soggy. The wine and chocolate cake were the only good things we had. Given the prices we were expecting much better and do not recommend this place which is unfortunately conveniently located in the Hobby theatre.
The restaurant is beautiful; food was excellent; server was a little passive/aggressive (said he'd give us a few minutes, but kept coming back quickly, not giving us enough time to review menu - then after we finished our meal, he didn't come back to ask us about dessert very promptly).
We visited Diana not long after it opened and I had previously written a partly negative review. The chef Marcello contacted me and persuaded me to return. Glad we did. Everything was excellent. They've gotten over the initial issues and now are a great place to eat. There were four of us, we all had different dinners and appetizers, and all were good. We'll eat at Diana every time we go to a show at TUTS, and some times even if we're not going to the theater. Highly recommended.
It’s a wonderful “adder” to a day at the theatre. Service and food are great!
Maurice was outstanding and took very good care of us. The service and food went complemented each other very good time was had by all.
My family of four dined here prior to a showing of Aladdin. All was great, from arrival to departure. The food was wonderful, the service was prompt and pleasant, and the atmosphere was lovely. We very much appreciated the desserts and drinks given to us from Marcello Liberona, as promised from a prior review. We were still celebrating a recent anniversary, and dining here made it all the more memorable. I definitely recommend Diana American Grill, especially as a lovely, pre-show dinner.
The service was outstanding! The food was great quality but pricey.
Great location for dinner before a show at Hobby Centre but unfortunately just a bad meal. Gulf etouffee described as having shrimp, scallops and etouffee sauce. Not a scallop to be found and more of a canned creole sauce than etouffee. Rice was severely underdone as well. Between the three of us, no one enjoyed their entree. Server asked us and others around us if we could pay cash as well and pointed out there was an ATM machine downstairs claiming issues with the credit card system saying it was taking a long time although I saw others pay with card. Poor experience overall.
Food was good but it’s absolutely friggin’ ridiculous to get charged $18 for a Hendricks gin martini.
The food was good, but not great. Dessert was outstanding. Atmosphere great, other than one table that was loud by talking and laughing like they were in a bar. Beautiful place although under construction. General Manager was going table by table talking to people.
We decided to give Diana’s another try after a disappointing first turn. I still don’t accept it as “fine dining” but the wait staff in my section appeared a little better trained that the cafeteria-style staff we had last time. Baby steps I suppose. The food still has a way to go, but the carrot cake is outstanding.
Since opening this restaurant has suffered from low quality food, uninspiring menu and careless service. It’s a shame. Artista was very good. The only reason this restaurant may survive is because of convenience. This is our third time to dine here. As season ticket holders this will be our last. Waste of money!
See share appetizers and salad before theater
Not a lot of choices to share and crab cakes were very small for the price
We had another wonderful experience at the Diana American Grill. The service was outstanding and we really enjoy the space especially following the renovations. We had a small concern with one of the dishes we ordered and between the wait staff and the manager it was immediately address and corrected. Outstanding service. We recommend the Diana American Grill.
Restaurant has evolved since its opening. Much better prices, better service and the menu is more
varied. The chips and dip placed on the table is a nice touch. The special was a shrimp etoufee with scallop herb rice. It really was a shrimp creole and not an etoufee so a little disappointing. However, the carrot ginger soup appetizer course was very nice!
All things considered, Diana American Grill is well worth repeated visits. The restaurant is well appointed, and the food is very good, as is the service and the view. The only negative is that the music is at too high a volume, which is not conducive to conversation.
It is very convenient for lunch before Broadway Across America shows.
Was a wonderful time. Great food, service, and atmosphere. Will be going back!
Excellent seating location in large booth. Food was very good and service was attentive and fast.
Loved the ambience and convenience to the theater. One suggestion, open earlier than 5pm after a matinee performance. The menu was just right and service great. The complimentary potato chips and dipping sauce a delicious beginning. I suggest trying the selection of desserts , yummy.
Would definitely go again!!
We had a great experience with our Server Steve we were upstairs and had a great meal. I highly recommend the pimento cheese appetizer as it was delicious with the home made crackers. We visited prior to the Aladdin show.
The meal was great and the service was friendly and efficient. Very convenient and pleasant for a meal before attending a show at the Hobby Center.
This place just keeps getting better and better. We had outstanding service today. Our waiter made sure we were ready before he served each course. We started with the cheese plate appetizer. The bread sticks were delicious. After that, we had the soup of the day. As always their soup is second to none. Last we had the filet mignon. Wow! It was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant.
