Diamond's Ratings and Reviews
The cuisine was outstanding with so many scrumptious items to tempt the palate. The holiday ambiance was quite festive. The service for the most part was thorough. However, I have a personal issue when I need to remind the wait staff to refill my water glass, which did happen more than once. One of the two wine glasses that were presented had a small remnant of what appeared to be lipstick, which was promptly remedied when it was pointed out. I enjoy an occasional dining experience at this establishment.
Our party enjoyed the food but the service was not enjoyable. The waitress barely payed any attention to us after taking orders. The food was almost thrown at us by a bunch of staff asking who had what. And we weren't even asked if we wanted coffee or tea when we ordered our desserts. We were disappointed and won't rush back.
We went to Diamonds on a Friday night and the place was busy! We had reservations so we were seated quickly. We both ordered cups of soup, one the soup of the day and one the special. My husbands soup (Lentil) was hot and very good. My 3 mushroom soup, the special, came out lukewarm, as if it had been sitting for awhile. It was tasty, but not hot enough. We each ordered a dinner. My husband had a chicken dish and I had the crab cake special with broccoli on the side. The chicken dish was good, but the side of pasta was watery and not tasty. The crab was nicely presented, tasty and large but again not hot! The broccoli was sauteed but actually cold although the server used a towel to carry the plate. Then the bill arrived -- how outlandish! My crab was $49.95 and my soup was $9 for a cup! Seriously? I know they were specials, but really? Way over priced! We then remembered we ate at Diamonds last winter and ordered a salad that was a special of the day and it was $16 for a regular starter salad, not even entree size. Disappointed again. Will not go back even though it once had a great food, at a fair price in Chambersburg!!
We visit Diamond's about every four / five weeks. Like previous visits; the food was very good but the service was slightly better than usual. The server was attentive but not intrusive. I noticed they have changed their music playlist....thank you; it was time.
We had a coupon so thought we'd give Diamonds another try. There seemed to be confusion when we got there on just where to put us. The service was just okay, considering the cost. That's seems to be their biggest problem... Service. And the meal was not nearly worth the cost.
Dinner was very good. I had the seafood over pasta and my husband had chicken osso boco. We also had stuffed mushrooms and an appetizer from the special menu, together with wine and desserts. We enjoye the evening very much. My one complaint is that none of these restaurants let you know the prices of their specials.
The place is well decorated and you would never know you are in a shopping mall in Pennington, NJ. The service was good and attentive. The food was very good and creative. The only "complaint" was the price of the special Cowboy Ribeye. The steak was wonderful however the price of $60 was way too steep compared to other steaks on the menu which were no more then $40. Otherwise everything was good and we will be back.
I have been dining at Diamond's for many, many years from their time on Kent Street in Chambersbug in Trenton to their current location. Many times for business dinners and celebrations, romantic dinner with my special someone and mostly now with my group of friends who i lunch with every week.
When I need a great and fantastic Italian meal, Diamond's is my place!!!!
Good crab cake; best ever had. Halibut dinner was good. Overall the restaurant is very good with typically fine wine, deserts and cordials. I liked the way the waitstaff left you alone but were there when you needed them. Compares favorably with a New York City restaurant experience.
This is my 3 or so visit to Pennington. Was a avid fan of operation in Trenton years ago. Wanted to go a few times to give it a chance-chance now over!
I will Not go back!
Water- awful taste- forced to get bottled
Salad- Cesar dressing poor -bottled taste-salad soggy
Main meal- pasta/snails/mushrooms - great
Service-awful to slow- unresponsive
Ownership-unresponsive to on site complaint from waitress.
$100 better spend somewhere else
Very disappointed with our dining experience tonight.
To start the water they served was undrinkable.
They changed the glasses and poured new water but it didn't help. They seemed not to be surprised so maybe you need to spring for bottled water for your patrons, especially at the prices you are charging.
Service was good.
Food is way over priced and not worth the money. Specials are ridiculously priced and they don't tell you the prices, and unfortunately we didn't ask and were floored when the bill came!
The appetizer special we ordered was supposed to be a hot seafood with shrimp, mussels, calamari and clams. 1 shrimp and a few calamari and a few clams... basically all mussels in a lot of sauce for a cost of 23.00 and it really had no taste.
The potato slices and broccoli that game with my dinner and my husband's had so much garlic on them they were inedible.
About 1/2 an hour after serving home my stomach started hurting and hasn't stopped.
We will not be coming back and I think people should think about coming here unless you like paying way to much for mediocre food
We were disappointed with our second visit to Diamond's. Our first experience was fine. Apparently there were no Saturday dinner specials (our server didn't mention any). My husband asked for a beer the server told us was on tap only to have her return and say it wasn't. Our calamari appetizer was good--thankfully, for it was the only food we had (along with bread)
for 45 minutes or so. A young lady came by and took our bread/appetizer plates (apparently one plate serves both purposes), my dinner knife and the bread basket. We retrieved the bread (we had been sitting there so long we surmised the young lady thought we must have already been served our entrees and the table needed to be cleared for dessert/coffee). Eventually, the food arrived. My husband enjoyed his tortellini; my chicken with mushrooms and artichokes over spinach was bland. After another lengthy period of time the server returned to ask if we wanted dessert and coffee. We asked for the check. A few dollars were added to the price of my meal (we wondered if we had accidentally been charged for veal instead of chicken). Our server wearily informed us it was because I chose the spinach instead of pasta or potato and vegetables--good to know--would have preferred to have known that when I ordered the meal. No presence (owner, host, even bartender) around on the way out. Really bad.
