Dia de Campo
Día de Campo owners Chef Tin Vuong and Jed Sanford’s vision for a Mexican and seafood restaurant set in the South Bay of Los Angeles. Located in Hermosa Beach, just a block off the sand and strand, Día de Campo is a modern surf lodge, of sorts, catering to those who want to disconnect, leave the day behind and gather with friends and strangers over flavorful food and drinks. The menu has Chef Tin paying homage to the array of Mexican and Latino food he’s enjoyed growing up in LA, mostly coming out of cocinas east of the LA River, while also taking inspiration from the fish houses, oyster bars and surf shacks along the coasts of California, Mexico, Hawaii and wherever the Pacific meets the sand.

The food was tasty there just wasn't enough of it, even for me who is a moderate eater at 120lbs. I had two jalapeno margaritas, sopes appetizer, and enchiladas as the main dish but I walked away unsatisfied. The energy is good, the service is good too. Just wouldn't go back again.
Food and drinks were great - better than we remembered. The thing we always forget is that it is really loud and not an easy place to have a conversation. We will definitely be back - just be prepared for the noise!
First time visiting. Jon was great! Food was delicious. We'll be back.
Came for a quick bite before going to the Comedy & Magic Club. Great service & you can order margaritas by the carafe!
Dia de Campo is our go to for friday night margaritas, Tanya always give us the best service .
Went here for Brunch for the first time! The food was delicious!
The food was tasty, margaritas were decent, BUT the service was awful. We've been to all thew great South Bay restaurants, and this place has the worst serve of them all.
We ordered the queso as an appetizer, my husband ordered tacos and I ordered the vegetarian fajitas. The tacos came first (almost 30 minutes after we ordered), the queso came out about 10 minutes later and my fajitas came out about 10 minutes after that. This isn't a 'sharing' restaurant, so it really doesn't make sense for food to come out as it's ready. In my opinion, it shouldn't matter if it's Cinco De Mayo or a Wednesday at 4pm. Your service needs to match the price tag. This wasn't the case with Dia de Campo. Our bill came out to over $100, for two people. And we only ordered 1 drink each.
Review of the food:
Queso - Not good. It was greasy and overcooked.
Tacos - My husband liked them
Vegetarian Fajitas - Delicious. I would order this again.
Love it here
I love this place more every time we go there. Lots of options, all well prepared.
Delicious food, our waiter Max was great, They had the guitarist playing during brunch which was a nice touch.
Delicious food & drinks and great service! Had a great time.
Chef Tin does it again! I first had his cooking at Sapphire in Laguna Beach and I am so glad he has made a home in the South Bay. Dia de Campo is my favorite spot in Hermosa Beach. Can’t wait to get back there for another meal.
Always a great experience!
Wonderful place! Perfect spot! Beautiful atmosphere! My second time there and I will def keep going back. The food was OUTSTANDING!
They would benefit from letting customers substitute pork for chicken.
Everything was good except for the waiter who was getting all mess up with our order. Still we tip, but it was not worthy to tip the waiter. No complains about the restaurant. Im thinking to go back.
The food was delicious, the bottomless mimosas were awesome and Angie was a great server - she had great recommendations!
Very trendy, loud. Good food but was disappointed that we had to pay for chips and salsa.
Great food, great drinks like always. I’ll definitely be back.
The restaurant was very loud this visit. It always has a lot of energy but on Wednesday’s the have live music. The space is small so music, no matter how good, requires patrons to talk louder and makes the issue worse. We will definitely return, just not on a night when there is live music (currently Wednesday’s). Food is excellent. Service is a little delayed getting attention but once the server came by it was very good.
Has long been a favorite of ours. Went Tuesday night and they were obviously understaffed in ALL areas. Service was horrendous. Party of 4 - One steak salad was 15 minutes later than the rest of the entrees and when delivered, steak was raw. Went back to the kitchen and was dumped off 20 minutes later - salad was wilted (ie, it was the same salad that was delivered before) and steak had been microwaved in a separate bowl and was still undercooked.
Food/service was so bad it will be a while before/if we go back.
Great food a little crowded but worth the price would definitely recommend.
I put my credit card down in advance for a 12 person reservation. When we arrived we only had 8 seats so people had to stand and eat. No employee seemed to care to help accommodate us. It was too late to try to leave and seat -2 people elsewhere. Also, we were charged for items that never arrived.
Restaurant way too loud for a pleasant dining conversation. Waiter inexperienced, didn’t know Mexican beer selection. At a Mexican restaurant. Wasn’t sure of the house tequila for the margarita, and all three that i ordered tasted differently. Good very very salty. And my giant burrito was stuffed with French Fries........huh???? Will go back for cocktail hour and appetizers, but never to dine.
Waitress handing too many tables, including bar crowd. Someone else - not sure if he was another server - brought one person in our party a wrong order of tacos. He returned several minutes later with the same tacos. It took a third try to get it right.
Noise level was unbearable. No table conversation possible. I’ve dined at the restaurant before and it was very pleasant. I realize it was a Saturday but the place now seems like more like a bar as opposed to a dining experience. Will not be returning for dinner.
Great food and the service was good.
Great great food and service. Drinks a little pricey
We split 5 items/tapas among 4 diners and each dish was unbelievably delicious and extremely flavorful!
Best little gem in Hermosa by far! I have nothing else to say but it required me to put in 50 characters
We came here for valentine’s weekend dinner. Food was outstanding! The margaritas were Okay and the music didn’t really fit with the Mexican theme, but overall we liked this place a lot and will come back! We had the guacamole and chips, shrimp and chorizo enchiladas and the al pastor. Portions are great for sharing and food is AMAZING!
I’ve been to this restaurant before and it’s beet great in the past. I was a little disappointed with this experience . Upon arrival we were seated promptly as we had a reservation which is good ! This place was extremely loud , the music and then the people trying to talk over the loud music . When we sat down it took about almost 10-15 minutes for a waiter to come by , we didn’t even get water to start with even though he said he was coming by with water ...we had to ask 3 times before we got any. He got our drink orders wrong the second time around . The food was good, there was a guy who wasn’t a waiter who was extremely helpful because we essentially were being ignored by our waiter and he knew that. It was all just disappointing because in the past it’s always been a pleasant experience , service is important to me ... and it just wasn’t there. Food is good though and I like decor , set up of the place ... it’s a cute place . I don’t think I’ll be going here as often though now , there are a lot of options out there with great service .
Our favorite spot in Hermosa Beach, CA. Great food, fair prices, amazing staff.
After making an advanced reservation and putting my credit card on file for a no-show penalty, we were seated at the community table with other families... what part of a “reservation” do they not understand?
We always love dining here. The place is nice, the food is great, and we love the area. The only thing is that the tables are crammed into each other. My husband had to like hop/skip/jump out of his seat to try and not knock over the next table once people were sitting down. Other than that, always enjoy our meals here.
Way too noisy.
They have the best Tanteo Spicy Margaritas I have ever had! We did multiple Spicy Margarita flights at the table and they did not disappoint!!!
Great Mexican food in a stylish environment with a wonderful cocktail selection!
Dia De Campo is a great spot. Loud and busy, but really good.
Took forever to get service and when finally we got someone’s attention they said “I’m not your server.” Like WTF?
