Dia de Campo
Día de Campo owners Chef Tin Vuong and Jed Sanford’s vision for a Mexican and seafood restaurant set in the South Bay of Los Angeles. Located in Hermosa Beach, just a block off the sand and strand, Día de Campo is a modern surf lodge, of sorts, catering to those who want to disconnect, leave the day behind and gather with friends and strangers over flavorful food and drinks. The menu has Chef Tin paying homage to the array of Mexican and Latino food he’s enjoyed growing up in LA, mostly coming out of cocinas east of the LA River, while also taking inspiration from the fish houses, oyster bars and surf shacks along the coasts of California, Mexico, Hawaii and wherever the Pacific meets the sand.
marinated onions, egg, cotija
add marinated Dungeness crab
crispy kale, guacamole, habanero aioli
Due to Covid the dinning is outside . Dia de Campo are fortunate to have a large parking lot that they have converted . The food was yummy !! Unfortunately, if we are paying high prices for the food, you need to come up with new decor outside . As I said, u are one of the fortunate ones that has space , take advantage of this. Add turf on the ground , get wood tables or put table cloths on tables, not gross plastic on top of tables. Add a wood lattice screen or something to cover up all the clutter in the back . Service was mediocre. Would love to come back ... I know you can improve your space .
Outside seating in the parking lot next door. Attentive service and good food.
They did a great job with the outdoor dining. Margaritas and street tacos were amazing. Super friendly staff.
They have transformed the parking lot next door into an outdoor cantina. Great ambiance, same great food and drinks and extra points for creative use of space! The shrimp and chorizo enchiladas were out of the world and the truffle quesadilla is a must. Enjoy!
fun atmosphere, good food and strong drinks! close to the pier. highly recommend!
Worst experience we waited for 1:30 min for our food everyone else who came after us got everything except us and charged us allot we got just 2 appetisers and paid $50 the manager told us he even did 20% off but that was a total lie
I love this place but the service was so bad. The food was cold, the margaritas came in different size glasses so some of us had small glasses, was very odd. And they brought out all of ours but one persons meals and brought theirs out 20 minutes later after the rest of us finished
Dia de campo did a fabulous job with moving its entire seating outside. The ambiance is festive and comfortable. Tables are distanced and all protocols are followed. The food and drinks are delicious as always. If you feel like venturing out, this is your place.
Loud table was disruptive.
Pork chili verde was not hot
Other than that it was great
Wow! Delicious food — try the specialties. Ample portions. Margarita flight was the bomb!
Our table was ready when we arrived for our reservation time. The food was excellent, as well as the service. We will definitely return.
So happy to be back. Love this place. We didn’t get the high top we reserved-instead was seated in the bar at a low table-which isn’t such an issue-just the metal chairs are horrible! The back rest is so far back between metal bars, it’s not really usable. Defiantly hampered our overall experience. Wait staff and food were excellent as always.
We have been enjoying brunch there quite often. We don't feel rushed and food and drinks are consistently quite good.
Overall good, service was extremely pleasant. Needed the food to be much better for its price
Food was good. Too loud for conversation.
Great drinks, great food, great service! (And coupons on travelzoo)
Worst $200 spent in a restaurant ever. Food was mediocre. It took them 30 mins to get the starters. Waiter “memorized” our order without taking notes and of course messed up everything from salads to desserts. I mean, it’s not rocket science.
And it was noisy and cold inside.
2/10, wouldn’t recommend.
Had to sit at a family style table with six other couples. My husband and I did not expect this as it was Valentine’s Day. Food was good. Service ok. Would go back but would only sit at our own table for two.
Went for an early dinner before checking out the comedy club down the street. Service was great and went above and beyond. Place is cute, but can be a little loud. The ceviche was fantastic!! I will be stopping by again!
We loved it. Will definitely go back for Sunday brunch.
Food was great- imaginative take on Mexican dishes
Noise level is very loud
Many large parties tonight so was seated at a high top - not the most comfortable seating...but our server made up. Sad that the corn wasn’t on the menu - but the cocktails were good and we enjoyed our tacos - shrimp were great...
Service was super slow. But when we finally received the food it was good.
We went to Dia de Campo for dinner during Dine LA. The offerings from the Dine LA menu were wide-ranging, which allowed us to taste a decent portion of the restaurant's regular menu. Most everything was delicious, especially the scallop ceviche, the short rib empanada, and the churros. Drinks were good but a bit overpriced. Also, it's a small place so it gets fairly loud.
Amazing deal and amazing dinner experience! Friendly staff helped make this dinner a great evening.
Always such a great experience at Dia! Our go-to brunch spot for sure 🥂
Very Spicy sauce that should’ve had warning. Good drinks for happy hour
I’ve always eaten here during brunch time so never notice the li
It was a nice experience and delicious meal with an amazing ambiance. The staff are friendly and accommodating too.
My friends ceviche was really mushy. One of my carne asado tacos was so spicy I could barely eat it. The guacamole is great tho. Awesome atmosphere but the food is mediocre.
Delicious and creative menu and drinks!
Excellent as always. Great food, great service, and great value. Thank you!!
Overpriced Mexican food and drinks!! Save your money
The ceviche was delicious but the happy hour tacos and enchiladas were not great. The server did not ask my grandmother if she wanted a drink when we ordered ours. We had to ask another server for more water when our glasses were empty. Seems like a good spot for date night but not for families. I recommend the passion over funktion cocktail.
I loved Dia de Campo both for brunch and dinner. For this most recent visit I came with a few friends from out of town for brunch. The food was good as always but the service was TERRIBLE. Our server was untimely with taking our orders (after 20 minutes we had to call him over in an EMPTY restaurant) and unfriendly throughout the entire dining experience. (Side note: the food runner who brought our food out was very friendly) The server really put a damper on our day.
Not sure if the service is the reason their discounting on Travelzoo but I will think twice about returning. I don't go out to brunch just for the food/drink I go out for the entire experience and this was a total bummer.
Too loud. Tables too small. Didnt even order because people next to us were loud - ended up walking out.
Always amazing! The whole team is outstanding. See you at the next brunch!
The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was delicious! I will be going back to this establishment very soon!!
