The staff was attentive and well meaning but didn't handle drinks very well. The food arrived quickly and was delicious.
Good idea the buffet for a quick and cheap lunch.
The heater was not working n it killed t entire experience for me in this freezing cold. You should not shut t restaurant till basic amenities are fixed.
While the food and service was above average, we went on a cold night and the place was freezing. It's a very busy restaurant and the front door(s) are often open. The crowd of people packed inside from the cold didn't help our experience, and I got bumped a few times while eating. Due to it's popularity, I can only imagine that the place has a much better feel in better weather. It's probably also very good for carry-out!
My family of 6 had a reservation for Christmas at 3PM at Dhaba. This reservation was confirmed twice by Open Table. When we arrived, we were told by the hostess that she had no record of our reservation and they had no room for us. When I explained the confirmation from Open Table she just shook her head. Then she went on to direct us to go with an individual who had a restaurant two doors down the street stating that it had the 'exact same food'. Since we had two children with us (age 6 and 4), we needed seating so we went to this alternative. This restaurant was virtually empty. We continued to persist on the fact that we had a confirmed reservation at Dhaba and and showed the second restaurant individual our confirmation. He went back to Dhaba and came back and again said they have no record of our reservation. By this time, we decided to leave this situation and concluded that that is the end of Dhaba for us.
I have never had a problem with the Open Table reservation service and have used it for many years. Needless to say, this was a very disappointing experience.
PS: The food/ambience ratings, etc are required for posting. As you read, we did not eat at Dhaba.
Our 3rd visit - always very good food - always a bit loud - always friendly service. The service however, is sometimes compromised by the server's inability to pay attention to what we say. Each time we've either had a dish we didn't order, or this time around, didn't get one of the appetizers we ordered. Place busy enough that we decided to let it go - it didn't get on the bill, so we know the server didn't pay attention. He just chatted away while we tried to order. The food you DO get - always excellent!
Great food and service, authentic curry and lovely garlic naan.
Food quality has really gone down hill. Our paneer was flavorless. Also, the wait staff are really unresponsive. We had to ask for items multiple times. Finally, really hard to have a conversation in this cramped space.
In terms of food, the best traditional Indian in Manhattan! Superior meat preparation techniques keep the tandoori chicken juicy, the goat meat in your korma falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. Rice however does not come with curry as they do in most establishments. Strangely, they do when you order for delivery. Something they'll need to fix unless they want people to stop coming in and instead order in instead.
