Best Indian restaurant in curry hill, been going for years and they recently had a nice spruce up of the interior decor
Excellent food and excellent service!
Would recommend to anyone!
Food delicious as usual. Bathroom needs complete overhaul.
Favorite Indian spot in the city. Been frequenting for ten plus years about
I have enjoyed many, many meals at Dhaba. The food is much better than neighboring restaurants. We always order Lasoni Gobi, which is a crispy, sweet and spicy cauliflower. We also love Malai Kofta which are vegetable and cheese balls in a tangy sauce. The tandooris are great, I love the biryani, it's just all good. The food has been consistently good since we first visited 10 years ago. Since then, the service has gone down a bit. My glass of prosecco sat bubbling on the bar for 5 minutes so that it was semi-flat by the time it arrived at my table. None of the servers smile anymore, nor do they look you in the eye or say hello. I am a New Yorker--I get brusque service--but this place used to employ energetic young people which added to the pleasure of the food. As for the decor: the door in the ladies room is filthy and could use a serious wipe down and a coat of paint. The wallpaper near the bar is peeling off and showing the crumbling plaster underneath. One of the hanging lamps is broken. The atmosphere really needs some TLC, as any restaurant would after 10 years, especially since the prices have gone up. The food is still delicious. I just wish I could give higher marks for service and atmosphere.
Awesome! Great food and service
Went here for lunch with my friends. Buffet choices and cocktails were amazing. I will definitely be back!
Great place to eat, never disappoints.
Highly recommend! Everyone in our party enjoyed the food...vegan options were wonderful and my husband said it was the best Tandoori Chicken ever!
Low key atmosphere with a luncheon buffet of all you can eat at a great price. What’s more this neighborhood place isn’t crowded at midday so my lunch companion and I got to stay and chat for quite some time. A lovely afternoon.
Service was terrible, food was below average, purani dilli ki papri chaat was horrible, too sour. Even after telling the staff how bad the chaat was they made no effort to replace it.
Great food but small place; ambience was okayish, and servers were very nice but very busy. Could have used some more time and attention.
A family get together at Christmas landed us in Dhaba. You need a large party to really experience this great Indian restaurant. We ordered half a dozen main courses, with a few appetizers to kick off a wonderful meal. The food is as spicy as you wish, with the option of vegan food for one of our group. Every single dish was superb.
I took an Indian friend to Dhaba for the first time, though I've been there maybe a dozen times. It's my favorite Indian restaurant in NYC. We ate 5 dhabas -- smallish plates of vegetarian street food and some bread and that was quite enough. I love the stuff, esp. eggplant drenched in tamarind sauce. The garlic nan is outstanding. We also had fried okra, lasoni gobi, and spicy cashews. I focused on the eggplant. My friend (who knows seriously from Indian food), said that he thought the food was "average" but the selections of street food were fantastic. As a non-Indian who''d go to Dhaba every week if I lived nearby, I took his critique with a grain of tamarind. I doubt you will be disappointed.
Best Indian we’ve ever had. Service was ok,
Could be friendlier, but was timely and attentive. Ambiance wasn’t special but was nice. But seriously, food was phenomenal. Will come back.
When we reached at our booked timing, on 7th Dec 19, 7.30 pm, we are denied our booking. The manager Mr. Jeevan (don’t know if its his genuine name), argues that there is no booking for us. Then we show the confirmation at Open Table app, wherein he realises that they have given our table to some other guests. We had to argue for 10 mins, but they still denied us saying that those other guests said my name as their’s, so they had to give them the table. But eventually, the truth was that those were regular customers, so they thought Open Table bookings are of no value, and they should allot the table to their regular customers first.
After 10 mins of argument, and shouting’s, they finally agreed to their mistake, but we had to wait for another 25 mins to get our table set.
Then we very politely request the manager to give us some discount or other incentives owing to their blunder mistake, but the manager acted and behaved in a very rude manner with us, and said that ‘Go write on Trip Advisor, I don’t care!’
I truly believe this was the worst ever restaurant experience I ever had in New York City. It was my first and last visit. We were a group of 14 people, I am certain none of us is even moderately satisfied with the kind of service and hospitality shown.
Their manager is super rude, their reservation system is totally broken, the food is very average, and expensive. This kind is service and behaviour can not be expected from a reputed restaurant in New York City. They need to understand that being rude to their genuine customers is the last thing they should wish for. I am highly disappointed with them, and so are by business guests from Vietnam. I highly regret my decision of inviting my guests here for dinner. Such mental agony and embarrassment.
I certainly NOT RECOMMEND it at all.
Felt like run of the mill typical Indian restaurant. We were greeted with “rest of the party need to hurry because we don’t have time because it’s a busy restaurant ”. Nonetheless, we were seated and I had to flag down a waiter who was walking around aimless with three others. We ended up ordered food and drinks. The food is below average that you can find any other Indian restaurant with 1/3 of the price you pay for. The weather was 29 degrees and win kept coming in from the door and it was rather not all comfortable. All the tables were placed so closely. It hard to walk between the tables and walk from one end of the restaurant to the others. The food is basically catered for non Indian taste buds and it’s far away from authentic. I can go on and on but I won’t go there next time.
The food here is pretty much basic. Fine if you are in a rush and there is nowhere else you could go, but food is just about edible and that’s it. I would not recommend going here for any more than that.
Every dish was outstanding. Wish they had more Indian beers, but that's a small criticism. Consistently good.
They didn’t recognize that we had a reservation
We love Dhaba. Food is great. Too noisy, but we'll come back.
The place is nothing special. The service was very good. The food was good except for the Chicken Tikka Marsala, which was terrible.
Authentic Indian food
Was excellent and the fully packed house lets you known you picked a good spot. On top of that there was as much take out going out the door as was being served inside. The locals obviously love this spot.
Great food at a reasonable price.
Buns r satisfactory
Good is always very very good! Get a giant beer too 😁
Amazing food, great service.
Amazing food! Was so happy with the quality and the preparation. Delicious!
Do not go during peak hours. Especially during weekend buffet hours. It is noisy and chaotic
A/C was not working. Water was not cold. Server had to remove the dishes while we are getting out. Food was acceptable but way below expectations.
No air conditioning on a super hot day did unfortunately impact our enjoyment of the wonderful food.
All the food we ordered was good except for the chicken biryani which is usually my favorite. The chicken was not well cooked at all and that was disappointing. It was like rubber and I had to throw it out.
Great authentic Punjabi Indian food! They easily accommodated our large party last minute and service was great.
Good food overall
Fabulous food! Dhaba has proven consistently good every time I've been there. Grab a booth if you can and just settle in for a meal that is outstanding. Everything is flavorful, large portions, well presented. Can't recommend more highly.
No spice. No flavor. Thats the least you expect form indian food
Da es sehr beliebt ist, ist eine Reservierung sinnvoll. Sehr leckeres Essen, aber die Toiletten war echt dreckig....
