   We arrived earlier than planned and ordered drinks at the bar and explained our situation. Bringing forward our booking by 30 minutes wasn’t a problem. We sat on the terrace outside to enjoy our drinks and went into the restaurant at the new time, all good. We were there for Sunday lunch and roasts are on the menu but the menu is far wider with a very good choice of dishes and specials. The dishes we chose were varied but included 3 roast beef and 1 chicken and 2 more from the wider menu. The food was served in an appropriate time and the portion sizes were good. Unfortunately the chicken roast was served on a much smaller plate and on enquiring why it turned out that it had been served as a child’s meal. The recipient didn’t want to make a fuss so just asked for the chicken portion to be added to. In reality the server should have taken the meal back to the kitchen and had it replaced. All in all the main courses we well presented and tasty. We ordered puddings and of the 5 ordered only 4 were served. One had been forgotten and it was after about 10 minutes we chased it up and the error was corrected. All the puddings were very tasty. The food and drinks prices are very reasonable and we all enjoyed our meals. Pity about the problems with the service and I’m sure it’s not typical of the standard they set themselves.and we let the 10% optional gratuity stand.

   Lacking in staff, resulting in slow service and overcooked food. The food was so hot my wife severely burnt the inside of her mouth.

   We tend to visit Devonshire Arms during our stay in Peak District every year. The service is always good, staff polite and helpful. My husband ordered chicken Sunday roast. The meat was very dry and not edible. My husband complained and it was handled very well by a waitress and a manager. They apologised and didn’t charge for a meal. They also offered a free dessert. Rest of us had very tasty and well cooked meals. Overall, it was a good experience for most of us. We will return next year.

   Lovely Sunday lunch , got there earlier than our table reservation and we were welcomed. Food was hot and service was prompt. Would recommend.

   An excellent location from Chatsworth House. The food was very good, portion sizes were good and everyone enjoyed the meal.

   We had booked based on the online menu and had hoped for the supper club menu (selected days). When in Baslow, we read on a board outside this was Wednesdays only. On arriving we were told there were two items not available - the restaurant was not busy. My friends chose... 1) the pie and pint option. On paying, it was revealed that the pint he had chosen was not oncluded in the deal so he was charged for it. However, on complaining, this was changed. 2)the sea trout and prawns. When this (finally) arrived, it was lukewarm and dried up. It had obviously been standing on the side. My husband and I both chose the Korean chicken burger and Asian slaw. What came was a pice of breadcrumbed chicken and four slices of raw pepper. Nothing whatever Korean and/or Asian.

In future if you are wanting a specific menu it might be best to contact the venue first to check what days it is served to avoid disappointment.     Lovely environment and dog friendly. Waiting staff were lovely but service was very slow presumably due to staffing. Food was excellent but desserts very overpriced.
