The service was very good. However I had a problem with .you salad as it was supposed to have dressing. It was duck, lettuce, watermelon and fried rice noodles. Without the dressing it was very dry and absolutely no flavour. The lady on the next table had the same meal and hers also had no dressing. When. We raised it the chef said they had put a little on, but there was definitely no dressing but they made us both feel like it was our fault and that we were lying. We live lically but probably wont be back. An apology would have been nice but not being made to feel awful. The plate was bone dry and we could eat the noodles as they were so dry.

Good welcome from staff who were friendly and attentive. The overall look of the restaurant is pleasant if a little dark. The menu is interesting but the food is distinctly average, poorly presented and bland tasting. It was hot where it should be though and the mini pudding crumble was hot and tasty. A bit overpriced considering.

Our server, a smiley helpful, attentive young person was brilliant. All 4 of us enjoyed all our courses and drinks. We will be back again without doubt Good value too

This is our 7th/8th time visiting the Devonshire Arms, meeting as a group of 3 couples, each travelling from approx. 1 1/2 hours away. We all enjoyed our Sunday Dinner choices (I would describe as good pub grub) and the staff were as always very friendly. The pub has a very warm and welcoming feel and is brilliantly situated for a post dinner walk through the grounds of Chatsworth. I’m sure we’ll be back.

The food was good but, unfortunately my soup was only lukewarm and the steak I ordered was full of fat. I did speak to the waitress and, to be fair, the bill was reduced. The menu was what I would call 'pub grub' and the choices reflected that. The staff were amazing and I would probably go back there again in the future.

We arrived earlier than planned and ordered drinks at the bar and explained our situation. Bringing forward our booking by 30 minutes wasn’t a problem. We sat on the terrace outside to enjoy our drinks and went into the restaurant at the new time, all good. We were there for Sunday lunch and roasts are on the menu but the menu is far wider with a very good choice of dishes and specials. The dishes we chose were varied but included 3 roast beef and 1 chicken and 2 more from the wider menu. The food was served in an appropriate time and the portion sizes were good. Unfortunately the chicken roast was served on a much smaller plate and on enquiring why it turned out that it had been served as a child’s meal. The recipient didn’t want to make a fuss so just asked for the chicken portion to be added to. In reality the server should have taken the meal back to the kitchen and had it replaced. All in all the main courses we well presented and tasty. We ordered puddings and of the 5 ordered only 4 were served. One had been forgotten and it was after about 10 minutes we chased it up and the error was corrected. All the puddings were very tasty. The food and drinks prices are very reasonable and we all enjoyed our meals. Pity about the problems with the service and I’m sure it’s not typical of the standard they set themselves.and we let the 10% optional gratuity stand.
