Deville Dinerbar Ratings and Reviews
Went for a girls night, a few of us are servers/bartenders so we were shocked up our server rolling his eyes at us being passive aggressive! My friend almost chocked on a bone in her burger patty... the severs response “it happens” and walked away before she could reply. Being a server I understand bad days so I still tipped 17% when I usually tip 20%. I had a bad experience before at Deville but was willing to try again. The vibe is cool, drinks are good, very cute spot. However after we left all of my friends who had a burger that night had bad gas... I was on the toilet all night! That’s not what you want out of what ended up being a 70$ meal!
Disappointed won’t be going back.
From the start we were made to feel rushed at all times. Being that we were visiting Montreal for the first time we needed some time to look at the menu and make our selections. Our waiter always seemed like he was in a rush and that we should decide faster. He also seemed annoyed that we didn’t want to order entrees and appetizers at the same time. The onion rings and matchstick fries were delicious though. My husband got the big Duke and was disappointed that much of the steak was tough and chewy. I got a burger and although it was pretty tasty, I would have actually preferred a burger of just ground beef instead of a combination of meats as it was not that appealing to me.
Dinner here never disappoints! They have one of the best Blackend Salmon dishes and the Benginets are amazing! I do feel that the desserts are too much... quantity wise. Dining alone if you order dessert, you are literally ordering enough for 4-5 people which I feel is wasteful. If there is one thing they could improve, offer smaller quantity desserts.
Deville is both a bar at the street level as well as a restaurant at the upper level, though food and drink is served at both. The burgers are huge and inventive, and the drinks menu is extensive. This is typically a hangout for young people with money, so leave your walkers at home. Service is attentive and polite.
I absolutely LOVE deville dinnerbar. From the food to the drinks to the service, everything is impeccable every time I come. Two of my girlfriends and I had gone on a Wednesday night for a little get together. We ordered 3 different types of salads. My Waldorf salad was delicious.
This restaurant had great food and super fast service, but if you’re looking for a restaurant where you can actually converse with your significant other, date or friends, I don’t suggest going here. It’s super loud and the seating is super close to others. Not much room and you have to raise your voices to be heard. That was the only downfall to this restaurant.
After reading that this place has good cocktails, I made a reservation. I ordered a margarita and requested Patron as the tequila brand. I travel often to Mexico, and have more than a little experience with margaritas and how they should taste. Not difficult to make a good one, as long as the ingredients are fresh.
The first margarita that the waitress brought was far too sweet - sugar was all I could taste; the waitress was very kind and insisted on having it remade. The 2nd try was better in terms of sweetness, but it was now evident that it had been made with a mix. Fresh lime juice does not taste like that!
I said nothing more, since it was now apparent that this bartender had no idea how to make a decent margarita. The fact that I was charged so much for the margarita ($27) was astounding.
This is our third time here. Every time we visit Montreal we have to stop by for dinner. The blue cheese wedge salad was phenomenal, burgers are a must and every time we order a new app it never fails to be exceptional. This time we had philly roles and Pork belly rolls. Anyone passing through needs to visit this place.
Cool place but quite expensive..not your typical diner prices : 30$ for a salad! Mind you it was huge ( you probably could share it with someone) and very tasty. The chicken in my salad was juicy and tender and i had 4 big chunks. It was a meal in itself The fried pickles were very good but the phyllie cheese steak egg roll just ok.
The decor is neat, altough the tables are not wide enough if you’re sitting 4 in a booth it’s a little cramped. Good selection of wine by the glass. Our waiter was very pleasant and professional.
