The food was good and the server was very friendly. However, they sat us in this small high top in the corner really close to two other tables. You could hear both tables conversations the entire time and could barely hear our own.
Kiki was amazing!
The food- the gumbo specifically- was good but the service was the worst we’ve had in NOLA yet. The staff was not prepared to handle the busyness of being right off of Bourbon.
Our service was fair and the food was serviceable and filling. May need a bit of a refresh- looking tired! The staff that was there was hustling despite being short!
Wanted to go out for a fine dining experience I always associated the Royal sonesta with quality. We had reservations that were honored but the service was awful. Wait staff seemed clueless. It is called the oyster bar so one would assume you could get oysters. We could see it was busy so to make it easier on the waitress we ordered our drinks, appetizers ( oysters) and entree as soon as waitress got to our table. Waitress disappeared for 30 minutes no water no bread no contact. Then our entrees arrive no drinks no oysters!!! WTH? We eventually got our drinks and cancelled the appetizer oysters. Suffered thru a lukewarm bowl of gumbo got our check and left. Very very disappointed. Would not recommend will not be likely to return with a staff as inattentive to service as was found. It was the low point of a great visit to New Orleans
Server was awesome service was a little slow but with being down with servers was not that bad. Food was amazing
Great service and the food was fabulous!
Unfortunate evening, Covid has obviously taken its toll. Even with a reservation, there was a line outside. We were treated with less than an enthusiastic response from the over-stretched wait staff. We then waited another 10 minutes for the sever to even come over. The oysters were very good but the jambalaya was nothing but dreadful. I hate to even write this because the staff was trying hard but it was truly an epic fail. Will not return.
Good food, everything as expected. Highly recommended.
The place was full and seemed to have only one server. He was relaxed yet efficient. The food was all so salty I only ate about a third of it. The cheese grits, apart from the brine, were flavorless. The greens would have been delicious if they had not salted it... greens are naturally salty and it had tasso in it! The blackened catfish was perfectly prepared, apart from the very excessive salt. Our drinks were good.
Delicious food, fast friendly service
Excellent recommendations from our server, Natalie (I think that’s her name)
The food and service were really good. Nice oysters and good gumbo.Unfortunately, the restaurant need a cleaning. The credit card terminal was disgustingly full of a mixture of old food and drinks. I was lucky it wasn't that crowded, otherwise I would have left. The acoustic is just simply too crabby.
Excellent oysters. Great service
I was sat at a dirty table. I had to request for a wipe down. Host & waitress did not make me feel welcome. Food was neither presentable nor appetizing.
Went for breakfast. Service was not very good and food was just ok.
Very good place to eat ; prime location make reservation
Times to reserve need to be changed
Great atmosphere, fun bartender and what we wanted for food- try the red beans and rice! We’d stop there again
Probably one if the worst meals and service ever. Even the Host was rude and clearly wished he had another job. My daughter’s pasta had something in it that got stuck in her throat. After many tears and digging- she pulled out what appeared to be a piece of wood. We will never go here again.
Nulla di speciale
Great dinner spot!!
The hostess ignored us who were waiting to be seated. Several empty tables and seats. One couple were seated 30 minutes after their reservation. When she did speak to any of us she never inquired about reservations she took first come. The bartender finally approached us and another couple and took us to the bar and put us there. Once there the service and food was very good. If they were short staffed communication would have been appreciated. It was the worst, most frustrating experience I’ve had .
Devi’s was such a kind and attentive server. The food was excellent and we’ll definitely be back!
Oysters were delicious
Amazing. This is definitely one of our favorite spots in New Orleans. The food is second to none! Charbroiled Oysters, Shrimp and Grits, amazing cocktails...you name it! Tried the blackened fish po-boy this last time, ant the fish was seasoned in every bite!
Food was perfect. We had the chargrilled oysters and the gumbo. My phone was dead from being on tours all day and the hostess gladly offered to let me use hers while we ate. The service was amazing!
Thank you for your review!
Amazing service, food was perfect. The char grilled oysters are 10/10.
Oysters were very good but the rest of food lacked flavor. Presentation was well done and the food came out quickly. Was looking for a little more spice - not hot, to keep things interesting.
Food was very poor! I would not recommend ! Food tasted sour and servers weren’t well educated on the menu
Good food and wonderful service. Just sad they were out of their bread pudding.
Desire Oyster bar was consistent with the past with great food and great service!
We made reservations ahead of time but when we arrived on time we were turned away by the host because they were full and they wouldn't have a table for us for 20-30 minutes. We ended up eating elsewhere.
Amazing oysters. Great service!
Thank you for your kind review!
Food was good but service was pretty difficult
We ordered and parts of our food came out
Then others were brought at the end (oysters)
The waitress never came back and we finally had to get up to ask for our bill after a significant amount of time and the place was empty
Food was great
A favorite stop when visiting NO. This time through the service was sketchy at best and the open table res did not/then did show up in their system. But, oysters and food were quite good, so we'll look forward to visiting again!
Decent food, great service, conveniently located. Would try again
Very disappointed. We ordered the oysters on 1/2 shell which were all right. We also ordered the fried oysters as the main entree. Terrible. moist, not crispy. Sauce was just ok.....barely. Overall place was messy, looked more like a cafe or "to-go" ambience. Made reservations, and they didn't have them thru Open Table and they said that website was not reliable for reservations even though Open Table confirms your table....?? Would absolutely NOT ever recommend this place. Out of all the great places to eat in NO, this was a great disappointment.
