I am always surprised that the overall rating others give Bento is not higher. The food is delicious, service good, and totally convenient. My seven years old granddaughter, who is a picky eater loves the salmon. Go figure.

The big problem they have is that the food is basically mediocre and needs to be really ramped up.
The pub worked fine and the menu covered a broad spectrum of customers but the new offer is much narrower in appeal and the food is just ….

Had a “fast food” vibe overall. The Miso soup had an odd aftertaste and broth was way to dark.

The space is quiet cold. The food is okay, not great. I miss The Grill.

I can't believe I'd ever be saying "meh" about one of Tom Douglas' restaurants. But that's what it was, just meh. Started out really well with sake slushies and shrimp egg rolls. Those were both really good. But the bento boxes and the bowls were just OK, not Douglas-worthy at all. And the portions were small for the price. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't what we've come to expect from Serious Pie, Dahlia, Lola, etc. It's the first foray to the eastside for this excellent restaurateur and hopefully not the last!
