Denino's Greenwich Village
We originally opened in 1937 as a full tavern on Richmond Avenue, Staten Island until Carlo Denino introduced Pizza in 1951. Since then, Denino’s Pizzeria and Tavern has been renowned for our pizza pie and Italian dinner platters, which we always prepare fresh daily. We use our family’s recipes for Chicken Parmigiana, Meatballs and Sausage and over the years we’ve added our own version of tavern favorites like Wings, Scungilli and Hero Sandwiches.
Everything is always made from scratch, never frozen, and cooked to order.
Whenever New Yorkers come home, they come home to Denino’s Pizzeria
for thin crust, crispy, Cheesy Pizza piping hot right out of the oven.
When you visit a Denino’s Restaurant you are sharing in a part of our
legacy and family tradition that started nearly 8 decades ago.
Denino’s is great! The crispy, thin crust pizza is exceptional. The Salute pie with Prosciutto is my personal favorite. Great food, great atmosphere, great service....what more could you ask for!?
Pizza was good, service was slow and seemed uninterested.
Best pizza and Caesar salad ever! Excellent service!
Awesome food and drinks. The service was great
Everything was delicious! It was our first time there and will definitely be coming back.
7 of us (5 adults, 2 teens) went out to celebrate birthdays. Denino's was great. In my reservation notes I indicated we were a group, celebrating birthdays, and asked for nice seating in a not-too-noisy spot. They accommodated my request and the food surpassed the expectations. The Margherita Pizza was awesome and cooked perfectly. So were the eggplant dishes, the calamari (not greasy), mozzarella sticks, garlic bread, pasta. A nice, reasonably priced organic wine. Matt, our waiter, took excellent care of us and I appreciated the call earlier in our day, from the restaurant (Tyler I think), confirming our reservation. The food was very good, reasonably priced, and very good service. If I could have one disappointment, it would have been nice if there was a simple acknowledgement of the birthdays indicated in the reservation notes (since they ask if it is a special occasion). Not an expectation but it would have been a nice "above and beyond" had they done something. That said, I would not hesitate going back for future dining and events. The restaurant was clean, nice looking, competent staff, and not too noisy. Oh, and the location cannot be beat!!
Great pizza. I was nervous since there were so many open spots. It was great! We had a party of 7, easily accommodated.
Great food and friendly atmosphere but the music was so loud it was difficult to hear people sitting next to you.
This place was under my radar, but no more. The pizza is awesome. The crust is thin but crispy. The ingredients are savory, and the place has style. The pizza's are 14', and are more than enough to share. Bring your appetite, and you won't be disappointed.
Food is nice. However, it was really cold, all the windows and door wide open in a not-so-warm night...
I went there on a Sunday evening with my girlfriend. The owners were very friendly and managed the place very well. The staff and everyone working there was also very attentive and patient.
We started off with meatballs and my God were those the best meatballs I've eaten.
Deninos is known for their pizza. Man was that pizza good! We ordered half buffalo chicken and half chicken bacon ranch. At first they forgot to put the buffalo sauce on the pizza. The owners apologized for the mistake and tried to make this right. It was very appreciated.
I really enjoyed my experience at this location and plan on coming back soon!
We were on a family holiday. My kids are 14 and 11. This is a great traditional and comfortable Italian family restaurant. Pizzas were good and very large. Good value and ambience
The experience was very enjoyable. We ordered a salad for an appetizer and a pizza for the main course. The salad and the pizza came to the table within 15 min of ordering. We felt this was way too fast to enjoy the full dining experience. All in all, the food, ambiance, and service was good, we just felt rushed.
Showed up after booking through the app to find the restaurant closed :(
Fantastic Pizza! Went here after comedy cellar and everybody loved it! Will definitely go back when in the area again
Great food, better staff. Waitress was knowledgeable about all the food options and had a great attitude.
Food was okay.
We were blown away by this pizza. “Anything is possible!” This is the answer we received when we wondered if we could combine a white lemony arugula pie with the vodka special. When it took longer than expected for the pizza to come out, the manager took it off our bill. He didn’t have to do that because we devoured it and could not have helped ourselves from coming back!
We were going to see a show at the Minetta Lane Theater and Denino's is right around the corner. Pizza and Italian menu but it is a nice bar/restaurant. Service was a little slow to first great us and get our drink order but after that improved. We got salads and pizza pies and all were very good. Food came out quickly and we had no problem making our show in time.
$25 for a pie with any toppings but it was very good and the atmosphere was nice so it was worth it. They could expand their beer menu especially today with all the craft beer out there. They did have a Brooklyn lager but not much more.
We love Deninos! We've gone to the Staten Island restaurant for years and the Greenwich Village location is excellent! The sausage pizza is a personal favorite!
Love this spot. Bring my family here for quality italian food with an awesome atmosphere.
Great service and good for a group of people. They do keep it a bit warm though. Great cheese pizza and apps
Fantastic food, great service. Will definitely be back!
Finally made it to the location in the city, great spot!
Loved it! Great service. Rice balls are to die for!
Crust is very crispy which I liked but the pizza was just ok.
So glad we lucked into going here--several of the more "written up" pizza joints in the neighborhood were an hour+ wait. Denino's seated us right away, and served up one of the BEST margherita pies I've had in a long time. Thin crust that was the right balance of crispy and chewy, tangy fresh tomato sauce, super fresh basil, and the meltingest cheese ever. The two of us killed an entire pie.
The restaurant tries hard and is good but security is completely mismanaged. Unfortunately, if you choose an outside table, there is a local narcotics user who not only bothers you with some bogus flyers but actually assaults you and your food with them while shouting at you out of nowhere. This happened multiple times with the same guy within a time span of 2 hrs. Naturally, the NYPD is useless. The owner should keep a door man or bouncer posted at all times or your experience may end you up in a hospital or a precinct. The owner did apologize profusely for the incidents and served free Prosecco. My appetite, however, was lost. They also placed a young lady as a lookout outside as the evening progressed. Nonetheless, I felt not only uncomfortable but actually physically threatened while at Denino's on MacDougal Street at 7PM on a Friday evening. This was clearly not an isolated incident. The owner is up against that every night.
This was our first time at this restaurant, the service was friendly, the garlic bread parmigiana was excellent, but the sauce on the eggplant parmigiana was out of this world, really delicious !!, will go back just to have this sauce.
Pizza (especially the crust) was very good. We had both the clam and margarita. Penne vodka was very good as was the fried calamari (which can often times be too fried without taste of the octopus). Really delicious and service was outstanding. We will be back soon!!
Clam pizza was delicious: perfect crust and very tasty.
We had a great time at Denino's! It was just the right amount of noise, fast but not rushed, delicious, and the service was perfect. We will be back!
Knockout Must orders....Clam Pie, Chicken Parm, Meatball & Ricotta Pie, Riceballs, Eggplant Tower, and Chicken Wings.
Great food and staff . Best pizza in NYC . Always a treat.
Fine but unremarkable pizza - needs the condiments on the table.
Great Cillage scene - all around great experience!
Pizza had no flavor- cardboard crust and flavorless sauce.
We sat right at the open window which was so nice. Our sever didn't pay much attention to us, but the hostess was very nice and our meal was enjoyable.
Outstanding service and the best pizza in town. Happy they made their way to Manhattan!
