Fresh basil and freshly squeezed lime transformed and sweetened into a refreshing vegan and gluten free treat.
3 smaller fried dumplings with a filling of minced prime beef, with Demera's Sambusa Mix. Sautéed onions, bell peppers and our special combination of Demera seasonings and a hint of spices.
An absolute favorite of mine in the whole city of Chicago. Some of the best food you will ever eat!!!
Everything is delicious. So good to be back! The split yellow peas are probably my favorite. Those and the sambussas.
A fantastic place with consistently delicious food. I’ve dined here over the years and will continue to bring friends and family here. Vibes are great, location is wonderful for people watching. Day or night, it has a wonderful ambiance
Outstanding food in a vibrant and energetic space.
This restaurant lives up to the hype! Delicious food, easy location, excellent service. Looking forward to dining there again
Food was great, honey wine was delicious, staff was very friendly. It was a little busier than expected and the tables were a bit closer than I would've liked since I'm still hesitant to dine in due to COVID, but the staff were all wearing masks and used gloves, of which I was very appreciative.
Excellent food and super friendly service. One of our favorites.
Best Ethiopian food I’ve ever eaten & best food in general I’ve eaten in a while. Amazing!
Delicious food and fantastic atmosphere! Definitely will be back
Brought in a friend for a first time experience. He really enjoyed it.
Food was outstanding. Fast service, excellent drink menu. Highly recommend.
My husband and I went for dinner on our anniversary. The food was delicious! Great flavors and spices. We had never had Ethiopian food before and were very happy with our meal. The manager had a tiramisu sent to our table which is made in house and it was perfect. It was like ice cream cake and not too sweet. The coffee was spiced also, very hot and strong like espresso. Highly recommended!
I love Demera! Most importantly, the food is outta sight delicious. The African beer goes well with it. It’s fun to gather up some food in the injera bread and and eat without utensils. I also like the art and took photos of it before we left. The host and waitpeople are gracious and efficient. What more can you ask? Eat there!
Wonderful wonderful meal!!!!
Wow this food was amazing. We had 4 guests with various diet restrictions and everyone left full. I'm going to take all my house guests here!
Never disappoints- great food and great service
Great staff and food was amazing. Can't wait to bring friends and family there
Delicious food and a hands on approach to sharing a meal!
Heaven on a plate, first Ethiopian place over ever eaten at and was blown away on how amazing the food tastes.
Great food! It’s always a good choice to go to Demera
This restaurant was definitely worth the wait. The food was delicious, the ambiance super romantic, and the service was friendly! Will definitely come back
Lovely spot with excellent service and well priced, delicious food. Spotless environment with interesting art work. Food is very varied and I highly recommend one of their items that allow choosing tastings of a # of vegan and meat choices, served with flat bread.
Delicious assortment tray of meats and vegetable dishes! Fun to eat, a variety of spice levels. Also nice cocktail selection!
Delicious vegetarian options! The portions were smaller than expected, but so yummy. The bread-cheese appetizer was good but not great; the cheese needed more salt and flavor, but the bread served was deliciously warm. The shah tea was also quite good.
Best Ethiopian in Chicago.
Great overall dining experience ! Food was excellent! Service was great! We did get seated by the kitchen which was a little annoying but even then the wait staff were very accommodating
The food was not very flavorful, overpriced, and very oily. We had the vegetarian combination for two, and all the dishes were sub par compared to many restaurants I have eaten in, in several smaller and big cities in the US. It was extremely overpriced ($43) for one meal for two, when usually that dish is around $27 at similar restaurants. Service was okay, nothing special. In fact we were ignored after we received the food. It feels like you pay for the ambience.
I don't think I will ever go there again. Ethiopian restaurants in Washington DC, NY city, St. Louis, Memphis, and Louisville have been so much better.
First time at Demera, tried the Bayanetu platter and would go back to try more! Great experience, friendly staff.
Excellent food. Bit pricey but not horrible. Just need to dim the lights for more ambiance and have table candles to improve the atmosphere. Didnt have their famous cocktail liquor which disappointed. Otherwise, very good!
We got lunch here on a Saturday. Shared the vegetarian platter with two friends. The food was very tasty and the service was great.
The food was amazing and our server was very sweet
Demera is such a great restaurant. Happy to get to come back for the whole experience!
First time there and didn't know what to expect. Food was delicious and the Honey Wine Sangria is a must try!
Exceptional food and one-of-a-kind experience eating with no silverware!
Awesome service and great food/experience.
Menu prices look a little on the high side for diners on a budget, but the food is so good and the portions are sufficiently generous that its worth it in this cheapskate's opinion.
Amazing food and service! Loved the experience.
My Ethiopian daughter always wants Demera, it’s like going home. The owner and staff are so kind and provide service that goes above and beyond. For delicious food and an authentic experience, I can’t recommend Demera enough.
