Delphi Greek Ratings and Reviews
Attentive service and excellent Greek food at this Westwood Blvd. restaurant. Very attractive restaurant, surprisingly quiet. One drawback is limited parking on the street. Recommend the traditional Greek chicken/rice/lemon soup, avgolemono, the moussaki, the souklavi and and excellent huge portion of grilled trout.
It´s your basic Greek restaurant. The meals we have eaten there have ranged from good to very good. That also applies to the service. If someone in that área wants some Greek food, we would recommend it, especially since there isn´t another one within 5 miles.
The owner was there and could not have been nicer, but our entrees were just okay. Two greek salads, one with falafel and one with chicken gyro. One falafel plate. One chicken skewers plate. The last one was pretty good, but the falafels were hard as a rock and not particularly well-flavored, not a great portion of gyro on the salad, and both salads were cut up in pieces too big with way too much oil. We did order an appetizer platter of Greek dips, which was delicious, especially their version of baba ganoush. My friend said it well, "there are just too many restaurants to get away with being mediocre." I hope with this review the owner checks in with his chef to make some improvements. He was so nice and we want his restaurant to do well!
I wanted a satisfying meal where I could conduct business maters that was convenient and not a grab-and-go spot. Delphi's full menu was a great surprise and my entree was delicious. Highly recommend the Flaming Cheese appetizer! Now that I know where it is, I will be back more often!
I have been to Delphi a few times because (1) I like Greek food and (2) it is convenient to Royce Hall UCLA, a popular venue for concerts. There are better Greek restaurants, but it is good and reliable and can be recommended to people in the Westwood area. Also, it doesn't hurt that there is a fantastic ice cream shop next door that specializes in the Persian version with many unusual (wonderful) flavors.
If you want succulent lamb - we had skewers - that is moist and bursting with taste AND you want to actually have a conversation, this is a good choice. We went early on a Saturday for dinner. We were the only people there. Clearly, not a 'scene'. The restaurant has been on Westwood Boulevard since 1985! Give it a try!
It was spooky because we were the ONLY ONES in the restaurant all night long. We went out to dinner to escape Halloween madness at home, but this was like being in the Twilight Zone. And because we were the only ones there, the service was overly attentive ( bordering on interruptive) and there wasn't enough time between courses. The food was fine. Between the 4 of us we shared a cold appetizer combo of various dips and pita bread that was tasty, then we had shrimp souvlaki, chicken souvlaki, and moussaka. All were seasoned and prepared well. The baklava for dessert was quite sweet though. I felt badly that we stayed and talked after dinner since it appeared that the staff had nothing to do after our plates were cleared and it looked like they wanted to leave, even though it was still early evening (9:00-ish) and we'd been there just over an hour. As we got up to leave the host rushed to the door to escort us out, so I got the impression they were glad they could close up shop. All in all, kind of a strange night, since I don't know why there weren't any other customers.
I had a party of 8 here on my birthday because I think this is such a great place. They surprised me with a beautiful flower arrangement especially for me!! SO sweet. The food was absolutely amazing. We ordered a few favorites, but left most of the ordering up to our waitress who did not disappoint. The whole group loved everything and the price was more than reasonable for the quality of food and service. I love this place!
I am not sure if this place is more of a lunch spot. I took my parents hoping for a nice evening...but we were all alone in the restaurant (felt a bit weird...i probably would have liked it if I need the space and the privacy). Restaurant manger super nice and very kind.
The food was good, but I would not return. Portions for wraps were fine, and my kids enjoyed them. I got a lamb kabob plate, and the meat portion was very small. I was most upset at extra costs. We ordered humus starter and were asked if we wanted pita with it. I figured of course, as I did not want to eat it with my hands. There was a$3 charge. My son ordered a wrap, and it came as a plate. He asked that they put the food in a pita wrap, which they did with an extra charge. The extra charges were not much, but they were annoying
You know how you forget that place you've driven by a million times? Delphi Greek is near my office and they have the easiest online ordering system for delivery, so I completely forgot about going there. Then I needed a close by location to take my daughter out for a "girls day" and remembered The Delphi Greek.
This turned out to be a wonderful solution, the food was fabulous - fresh, visually enticing and even had some vegetarian options. While I don't drink, I was aware that they have excellent (and affordable) wines which birthday girl enjoyed immensely.
I'm planning on returning this week!
Needed a place nearby a theater in UCLA and Greek sounded good. It's a small, quaint eatery, pretty blue lighting in the evening and the wait staff was friendly. The service was leisurely; had we not had extra time to kill, it might have been a problem. One of the best moussaka I've ever had and the rice that accompanied it was very flavorful. Generous portions, but still tried the chocolate raspberry cake which was moist and not overly sweet. Be prepared to walk from wherever you can find a parking space to the restaurant. We were lucky to get street parking on the next block. Overall, a pleasant evening.
Delphi is a simple Mom-and-Pop restaurant with low to moderate prices. The food runs from fair to very good. The Greek salad we started needed a little more punch. My lamb chops were excellent. The side dishes vegies were just ok except for the large pile of white something. Whatever it was tasted and looked like packing box filler. Should I return, I will certainly ask for rice or something else. Also, service is sub-par.
one of the few really good greek restaurants around - service is excellent and the food is great - the pita with a sampling of hummus, eggplant, and yogurt dips are a real treat - the menu is loaded with interesting choices - and try the greek coffee or other unique drinks -though it's a small place it is a surprisingly comfortable fun experience -
