Delmonico's began as the first restaurant in the United States and has had a profound impact on American dining tradition. Our setting is where nearly two centuries of notable poets, affluent socialites, celebrities and presidents have celebrated in the splendor that is Delmonico's. Delmonico's welcomes Executive Chef Bill Oliva our kitchen. While preserving the classic dishes such as Lobster Newburg, Delmonico's Steak and Baked Alaska, Bill brings a level of culinary sophistication to Delmonico's with his addition of creative seafood offerings and other inventive dishes. Delmonico's Ratings and Reviews
We dined in Delmonico’s with friends, after my husband heard about Delmonico’s. The restaurant is steeped in history and good old classic service takes centre stage in Delmonico’s.
I ordered lobster cocktail and t bone steak we shared side dishes of onion rings with blue cheese, turnip with asparagus, house potatoes and the best Brussel sprouts I have ever ever tasted. The food was amazing. Very filling and the service was outstanding.
This has been on my bucket list for many years and I was very excited to finally dine at Delmonico's. To my surprise It was good...not great...and way overpriced for the quality of the food. You will spend at least $175 for 2 people and at least double that if you have any wine at all. My steak was a bone-in 45 day aged prime cut. It was cooked as ordered but frankly...flavor was boring. We prepare better at home. There was a table of loud mouth Wall St. If you are looking for a great meal you won't find it here...but it will be good.
Came here for a classic NYC steakhouse dinner while vacationing in New York. When we arrived, there were some other patrons waiting for their table to be ready, and ended up leaving when they said they had been waiting over an hour. This wasn't a great note to start our experience off on, and we ended up waiting about 25 minutes prior to being seated and could tell that the front of the house staff seemed flustered. After being seated our experience went well. We ordered the Delmonico's Steak which was cooked to perfection with amazing flavor, as well as the greens salad and the scallop appetizer. The dining room was decorated very festively for the holidays and they had great Christmas music playing as well. Would recommend for date night!
A bit overrated. Nice food but loud and crowded. Tables were so crowded together that the waitstaff couldn't serve everyone around d the table. They had to reach across us to serve those on the other side of the table- and there were only four of us. The large party jammed up next to us was really loud and there was nothing in the decor to absorb sound except for the flooring. For the prices, we expected a more dignified experience.
I often don't eat at steakhouses, but a co-worker of mine suggested I give it a try. After doing some research and reading online reviews I decided to make a reservation.
I went with my mom and sister for a special occasion and right off the bat we were impressed with the ambiance of the venue. For food, we ordered the Delmonico greens and poke for the appetizers, New York strips and aged ribeye for the main course and sides of Delmonico potatoes, Brussel sprouts and french fries. For dessert we ordered the Baked Alaska.
Honestly, the steaks and sides were delicious. My steak came out medium-rare just as I requested and all three sides complemented the steak very well. My mom and sister also enjoyed their New York strips very much. The Baked Alaska topped things off perfectly and blew us away!
Given its rich history, we now understand why so many people hold Delmonico's in such high regard. Dinner here definitely exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be going back some time in the near future!
Came to Delmonico's on a whim- my boyfriend's t-bone steak was delicious, but my short ribs were all fat with very little meat (I've had short ribs with meat that were very soft before so these fell short). The burrata salad and delmonico potatoes were delicious. Overall, the food was great except for the short ribs! The atmosphere was cozy and the food was bright out fairly quickly
Delmonico’s is my favorite restaurant in NYC. Service and food are always excellent. Unfortunately, on this occasion, to entertain visiting family, I felt rushed through our meal, with appetizers arriving within minutes of ordering and main dishes served as the salad plates were taken off the table. We had to ask for a short break before dessert and coffee. I’ll be back, but if it happens again, I might not after that.
Our meal was OK, nothing special especially for the prices. One of my guests' steak was overcooked and he was disappointed but didn't want to send it back because he didn't want to delay our business lunch. All in all, it was nice to take someone a historic landmark but for my money, Capital Grill a few blocks away is a better place.
Took my girlfriend here for her suprise birthday dinner and she loved it! True steakhouse with phenomenal food. No wonder why this place has been running for over 100 years! Given its a bit pricey, but what Steakhouse isn’t? In my opinion, it was worth every penny. We had the filet minion, specialty burger (recommended to all my burger enthusiasts), mashed potatoes, hash browns, Brussel sprouts and topped all that deliciousness with the profiterol dessert. Everything was great!
Was my steak precooked? My strip was not hot was not even warm and came out of the kitchen way too fast. My side of spinach ordered with garlic and olive oil was steamed and was not drained, thus watery with no hint of garlic. We are going back to Smith and Wollensky for a better dining experience. Timefor a dessert and what do we get ?appears to be factory made and bland.
Their steaks used to be so good, but something went wrong last time when we went there. The Delmonico steaks all four of us ordered were terrible - lots of fats and the quality was not as good as they used to be. After this terrible experience, it is hard for me to consider going back there again. (their sister restaurant: Delmonico Kitchen in midtown is way better!)
As a Chef I can say that this was the worst food I had ever paid for, and couldn’t eat!
Salty salad! Salty steak!!! Wrong menus disciption!!! Don’t waste good money on horrible goods!
The cooks don’t know how to cook fillet mignon to right temp, I got Cold Meat instead of Medium rear,
The server asked how is the food, I replied; horrible! Salty, raw, and no sweet potato chipolini onions on my wife’s short ribs...
The server said: I see that you don’t like it!
And left the table!!!!
I and my wife did not eat nor enjoy our $170 steaks, paid and left very very upset!
No manager was available to speak to me!
Shame on you!!!!
I would like a refund and apologize!
Not sure which of 3-4 different waiters were ours, still had to grab a busser almost every time we needed something on a low key Thursday night. Drinks came well after the appetizer (martini & scotch in a glass, not that hard). No Sommelier anymore for the wine. Wine we ordered came 20 mins after we got the main course, which was overcooked. Baked Alaska left something to be desired. Haven't been here for 2-3 years. Always used to have a hreat experience. It will be a while before trying again.
The Lobster Newburg had a very generous portion of lobster, but the sauce was a bit off, more like Thermidor really. The baked Alaska was definitely not baked the day we were there, but the rest of the meal was outstanding. The foie gras was exceptional. We will visit next time for breakfast.
I wanted to try the NY classic Delmonico's, and order one of their famous steak. I took the signature one. It was awesome, with a perfect medium rare cooking, incredibly tender and tasty.
Overall very good service and expected ambiance for a Wall Street institution.
