It was our Anniversary and actually had planned to come last year but we had to change our plans. So this year we made it and we’re so glad that we did. Our reservation was for 8pm, we arrived 5 minutes early and we were seated almost immediately. My wife ordered the Filet and I went with the signature Delmonico. The flavor was amazing and they were cooked just as we had requested. Our server was very attentive as were all of the other staff that work hard to make the experience something special. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great steak house in lower Manhattan.
The food and service were exquisite! The ambiance is elegant.
Delmonico’s lives up to its reputation as a first class restaurant. From cocktails to wonderful crab bisque to an extensive wine list (pricey) the steaks that made it famous and BAKED ALASKA, a terrific anniversary celebration experience. Thanks to waiter Frank for everything.
Great birthday dinner spot and all occassion. Favorite steak house ever.
Birthday for my daughter. Service and food outstanding!!
Amazing place, the best stake in the city
Phenomenal food. Every bite was perfection. Service was impeccable and nonintrusive. It is excellent value for you money. Fantastic for a special occasion or celebration.
Poor service. Wait staff was rude. Our waiter was obviously making comments about our table, because I at several times saw other waiters looking over at us after our waiter quietly said something. We Had to send all steaks back because they were undercooked. The table next to us sent their steaks back as well and received a whole new meal; we received our same steaks back charred. Would not recommend this restaurant and definitely would not return.
This is an institution that lives up to its history. Excellent in every way. We had Delmonico ribeyes, Delmonico potatoes, mushrooms & onion, and asparagus accompanied by a phenomenal Caymus Cabernet. Outstanding. We couldn't finish - we had doggy bags for leftover lunches!
Great service and food!
We wanted to try the dry aged steaks. My son ordered the ribeye & it was fabulous. The flavor was great & prepared exactly how he wanted it. The service was amazing. Would definitely go back again.
Birthday, everything was good. I asked them to return the scotch, it was hurting my stomach. they took it away but kept it on my tab, which is why I tipped less. I even said to myself they will get a better tip if it was off
Enjoyed a wonderful Birthday dinner in this iconic steakhouse. Old world professional waiters and outstanding food would definitely recommend it
Excellent dinner, supreme stake!!!
Waiter were overwhelmed uninformed of the traditions of this landmark. Waiter was Not at all attentive and Lobster was over cooked. Busboy and girls were wonderful. Thank goodness the steak was perfect. Room is beautiful.
Excellent waiter Igor was on top of us, ready to go back soon
Great place...excellent food...limited lunch menu to only dinner items?
Outstanding, exceptional - THE original restaurant (literally:)
A hot button of mine is that very few restaurants' Maitre d' in the US does anything other than steer the front desk / arrivals process; the job (in France, it's a vocation) is to be the HEAD WAITER ensuring & monitoring EVERY table is being served with exception (e.g. wine served on-time with the courses; gauge the diners' experience and step in to elevate it whenever he/she can); other than Lincoln (at Lincoln Center) Delmonico's comes the closest to true high end service - and comparable food - in NYC.
Excellent wait staff, ambiance and food.
A MUST experience for every visitor to, and resident of, Manhattan!!!
Always wanted to go there and it didn't disappoint. The steaks were delicious.
Very poor service ! We were visiting from out of town and wanted to have a nice dinner. We made reservations at 9:30 pm and had no problem getting a table right away, however once we were seated our experience was ruined. Our waiter rushed us to order. He told us we could not order drinks or an appetizer until we were ready to order our main course. He was very rude and we felt rushed the entire time. We spoke with management and he did no better making us feel welcomed. He reiterated that the kitchen closed at 10pm and we needed to order before. I have never had this experience at a fine dinning establishment. I travel very frequently and eat at pleated like this one very often! We spent over $500 on our bill and it was ridiculous to be rushed! We will never come back here again.
The restaurant was absolutely phenomenal. The staff was extremely courteous and the food was delicious.
Excellent service from the waiters and the wine sommelier who were all from Croatia. They provided excellent customer service, were helpful with food selections, as well as the wine selection. We enjoyed a wonderful evening with friends with great good, wine and ambiance! Thank you!
Escargot was tasteless and Delmonico Steak was fatty and nothing special. Honestly, I was so eager to finally eat here after 20 years of living in lower Manhattan and I have to say this is one of the most over-rated steak places! Nothing special. Don't waste your money.
My daughter and I were visiting NY on vacation, and I thought eating at this iconic restaurant would be worth the money spent in memories alone. We were not disappointed. The steak and filet we ordered were impeccable. The service was fantastic...mind you, there was an unexpected blizzard that night and many empty tables, so we had a leisure 2 hour meal with plenty of attention paid to our table. I would definitely come back.
As always, I was welcomed at the door, the food, service and ambience were first rate
Phillip (our server) is AMAZING!!!! This was our second time in and he remembered us as well as what we ordered the first time and even how it was prepared!!!! He is knowledgeable and detail oriented. This was a special occasion for us celebrating our Son and he made sure this evening was EXCEPTIONAL!!! Food is incredible, atmosphere is classic yet not stuffy and as (previously mentioned) service is a 10! This place is not all Hype!!! If you love a good steak with excellent service it is a MUST!
We made the reservation weeks in advance because we knew it was a special room and traditional dining spot. We arrived a few minutes early only to find out there was no table available. Instead of a table in the beautifully glamorous main dining room, we were shown a table in a an empty back room with no table cloths and no ambience. It looked and felt like a snack bar at a golf club. We declined to eat there and was asked to wait in the bar. When I asked if they were offering us a drink while we waited, the hostess giggled. Fortunately a table became available after another ten minutes and from there it was clear sailing. The food and service were both good and it turned out to be a nice meal. It should be noted that the manager never appeared until we were finally seated.
Can’t wait to go back
So elegant, and rich with history. We knew that we were in for a wonderful evening upon stepping through the door. The wine list is extensive. We had beef entrees, of course. Since this is the home of the Delmonico cut, I didn't even struggle to make a decision. I am raised on grained beef from my farm and have never tasted a more flavorful, tender cut. The portions are ample. Our only complaint was the lag time for service. It seemed that the waiter was assigned to too many tables, and this left us unattended for long periods of time throughout the meal. Nonetheless, we will visit again when we return to NYC.
Great old style Steak House
Wonderful as always. A great place to introduce friends to a NY iconic restaurant
Thanks to the team at Delmonico's for making my last 2 dining experiences fantastic. From the warm welcome upon entering he dining room by the hostess to he exemplary service by Vibor and Albert accompanied by the scrumptious food including the Delmonico steak, the dry aged rib-eye, the lamb chops, scallops and fois gras appetizers, sides of wedge salad and bay turnips with asparagus the meal was outstanding. I had ordered baked Alaska for the person I was entertaining and it was well received. Additionally, the Maitre d, Corto (spelling?) made sure the entire evening was perfect.
All in all another outstanding night at the best restaurant in downtown Manhattan.
The place is just beautiful. The table we had was in the main dining room and perfect couldn’t ask for a better table. The food was great cooked perfect unfortunately we had to send it back and get another main course because it was hot enough. The Burrata was a excellent as well as the wedge salad for an appetizer. Overall the experience as excellent.
Great service and food, get the baked Alaska
We went for the Delmonicos signature steak , roasted cauliflower , onion rings and Brussels sprouts. All so flavourful, very large portion so don’t fill up on bread!
Nice but bring your AEX card
Beautiful, elegant setting, outstanding service and wonderful food!
Outstanding in all aspects. This was a return visit. Live in Long Island and the drive was over 90 minutes but totally worth it. Planning on another return with friends to introduce them to this gem.
I read so many books about this restaurant that I just had to experience it myself, It is great it is around since 1837 and still doing a great service. Looking forward to coming back... especially for the bakes Alaska, as well as the Delmonicos signature steak....
We were extremely disappointed in the service. Our waiter took forever just to get to the table and offer a drink menu. He didn’t offer any suggestions on the menu and was generally apathetic. Halfway through dinner says someone else will be taking over our table as his shift was about to end. We then see him enter the kitchen an hour or so later as we left the restaurant, so clearly he lied about that. Very disappointed given the amount of great Steakhouse options in NYC.
