Delmonico's Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
The sole was a special on the menu wasn't fresh.
Also , after ordering two good bottles of wine that they just happen to be out of. They try to substitute a lesser quality bottle. Then when we request the Mgr intervene , he insulted us with comments about how much rent he pays.
I ordered a white wine which smelled acidic, so I rejected it and ordered the house white wine. We ordered a porterhouse medium rare, but came back as medium well - too overcooked. The waiter offered to take it back, but we did not want to wait, so we just ate the overcooked steak. We were given a small table for four people.
The bill of course was expensive, but for that price the food and wine should have been much better.
Back in the day Delmonico's was an Italian restaurant known for its friendly service, good home style cooking and ample portions.
it was a great neighborhood place, and also convenient to the Garde.
since it became Delmonico's the focus has been shifted to the steak side of the menu, which i guess produces a higher profit margin. unfortunately, the last meal i had there (yesterday) was almost inedible.
the "authentic" Caesar salad was not at all authentic, but instead a drab pile of chopped up lettuce with what tasted like bottled dressing. the halibut was so overcooked i thought i'd choke. the chicken paillard was overly think and, again, overcooked.
i can't comment on the steaks, but i'm staying away from the place for the non-beef meals.
Considering the area - heart of midtown/garment district, it caters for a transient crowd. The menu is safe and reliable and so is the taste of the food and experience of service. Overall it's good but not exciting - you won't be disappointed but you won't be wowed by it either.
Food and service is consistently awesome. Our waiter Eloy is just wonderful and takes special care to make sure we are happy (and our Grandson loves going there )... and we were!! Shrimp cocktail was great with 4 huge shrimp!
NY strips were Delicious and cooked perfectly!
Thanks Joe... can't wait to come back.
We went to Delmonicos considering the excellent menu noted on Open Table only to realize the menu was an abridged version missing many of the items we were considering. After sharing one salad and one glass of wine and two entrees without dessert or coffee we had a 140 bill plus tip to come to 168. Now the steak was excellent as were the scallops. The risotto with the scallops and alacarte mashed with Trademark Ribeye were to die for but hardly a challenging meal to prepare and for the price not worth it. Consider many other options but if you need a great steak for 50 to 60 bucks you cant go wrong with prime aged. Service was mediocre and not very informative nor attentive and ambience was typical steak house dark with boring decor.
Bone in Rib Eye Steak ordered med well arrived med rare very under cooked in several areas, had a great night and wasn’t their fault I didn’t have time to send it back. We will definately be back.
The Staff was very welcoming Andrew environment warm and cozy.
Service was top notch.
Always wanted to try Delmonico's to order one of their name sake steaks. I had no plans for dinner our last night in the city and my wife suggested we give it a try. We understood it was Delmonico's Kitchen, but thought it was going to be the same product. We both ordered the Delmonico steak...first time and all. Unfortunately it came out pretty tough and without much flavor. The waiter noticed we were not really enjoying the experience and wanted us happy. He told us that some times this does happen, rarely, but it can be a cut of steak that just isn't up to their level of being on Par. Although it was eatable he insisted we try something different like the Filet or the NY Strip. We took him up on the offer and ordered one of each. It took a long time to get the new steaks out to the table, but he countered the wait with two glasses of wine on the house and a couple of desserts for the kids to keep them occupied. What came out of the kitchen was two of the best steaks we have ever seen. a buttery New York Strip and the most tender Fillet my wife had ever had. Every kitchen can have an off night, the way the restaurant handled it inspired me to actually write a review. Top notch service from the staff and management team with a brilliant finish in regards to the final product. Thank you again!
We've been to Delmonico's Kitchen a few times for Thanksgiving lunch and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is very inviting and comfortable, and the service is top notch with never a detail overlooked. The food - at least the holiday turkey special - is beautifully prepared and tastes just like mom used to make, (if mom was a chef at a five-star restaurant). Our only minor complaint was that even at midday the lighting was so low it was easy to imagine myself falling asleep after such a large meal. Perhaps some cots?
The atmosphere was very poor. Waiters started clearing tables away around us while we were still eating, clearing the room for another event and the manager didn't know how to use the Open Table voucher.
We were seated next to the waiters station that was noisy and had a waiter standing at the whole time when there were empty tables available elsewhere in the room. Was disappointed.
We were seated unfortunately at a table next to a main walkway between the bar and dining room, so there were many times that we had people standing near our table - so not very relaxing a location, and the dining room noise was deafening at times. My friend's Filet was excellent, however my Delmonico steak had a lot of tough fat in it (not what I would expect with that cut - the marbling/fat should be edible). Asparagus and spinach sides were not appealing - looked like they came out of a "rushed" kitchen, which it was....service was slow, including waiting 15 minutes for our drinks.....would not go back.
Wanted a great meal before a show at MSG and Delmonico's Kitchen delivered. The restaurant is within easy walking distance of MSG and it worked out perfectly. Went with a couple of signature Delmonico steaks and some sides and it was all delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. It was a little pricey, but what do you expect when you want a great steak in NYC? We would definitely go back again for a special occasion.
Delmonico's Kitchen was recommended by a friend and I had never been there. I took my 2 sales reps after working together during the day. Walking in, I immediately loved the ambience . Our waiter was amazing, attentive to everything we wanted as well as proactive in filling our wine, water, etc... My 2 reps had the Delmonico's special steak...One of them said it was the best steak he has ever eaten! I had the lamb chops which were absolutely delicious. All portions are very generous. The only little thing was my lobster bisque could have been hotter but I just ate it as it tasted delicious. We will definitely recommend this wonderful place to our friends and will be back.
The food was excellent and they even had a price fix for lunch...service was very good..did not rush us..we did go late lunch/early dinner so there was no crowd...we were suppose to get dessert with our meal but they never brought it so we had to ask...
The only big real negative I had was that a glass of wine was 17 dollars...I know its nyc , but thats rediculous for the average person...a bottle of wine was minimum 60 or more..they should have a bottle or two that is more resonable...
We used our groupon coupon and were very pleased. I had the boneless ribeye, medium rare, and my friend had the 8 oz filet mignon, medium. Both were cooked to perfection. To start, I had the scallops(2) with risotto which were excellent and my friend had a salad with blue cheese, bacon and tomatoes. For a side dish, we had cheesy potatoes. We will return again even without the groupon.
My fiancé and I came here with a Groupon, but they still serve us with their top notch services. I really like how attentive they were. The food is absolutely delicious. We ordered their Delmonico Steak and their NY strip, melts in your mouth. Definitely will go again.
Old school steak house with amazing food and impeccable service. Lump crabmeat cocktail was fresh and delicious . The veal chop was cooked to
perfection and was very tender. My husband devoured the swordfish special.
Our server Eloy was knowledgeable, very helpful with his ordering suggestions and truly charming, which all contributed to our amazing dining experience. We look forward to returning soon.
