In an attempt to honor the history of our beautiful building, the third Melon Bank ever built, we pay homage to its past! We chose period correct lighting and finishes from 1940 to bring it all together!

Della Terra which translates to “of the earth” transforms the essence of a small town eatery. Centrally located in historic downtown Zelienople, our goal is to capture the warmth and comfort of an Italian trattoria. Chefs reinterprets the bounty of the surrounding area, exploring an ingredient-driven cuisine that pulls inspiration from the Italian cooking tradition to create meaningful food, celebrating the restaurant’s ongoing relationship with its local family of farmers and suppliers.

The atmosphere was lively, however it was very difficult to hear in the upper seating area. Extremely noisy and loud causing people to talk much louder than normal, and was difficult to hear our server tell us about food selections and drinks. The lighting was very dim and all in our party, young and older needed to use our phones flashlight feature to read the menu. Our food and drinks were very tasty.

We are First time, excited to try Della Terra, diners with a reservation. Even though there were empty seats on main floor we were put upstairs stuffed into a zero view tiny corner. Awful!! Not only was this tiny corner confining, The acoustics up there are HORRIBLE!! Everyone has to shout over the noise from the entire restaurant. The Hostess and bartender were so rude to us when we asked to be moved to first floor. We were NOT MOVED Waitress was nice enough except we asked her to move us to table beside us that had a less confined feel, she said it was reserved… however it remained empty our entire time there. Food was NOTHING special for the prices. My husband’s simple pasta dish (noodles and sauce)was very undercooked. Drinks were small, pricey and not made well. Will not return to Della Terra

Overall our appetizers and entrees were delicious! We had the greens and beans and meatballs for apps. The greens and beans are phenomenal! I gave an overall rating of 4stars for two reasons. We requested Parmesan cheese for our entrees and was told it was a fifty cent charge for cheese because it was imported! Really ! Also, ordered a Tito’s and tonic for my cocktail and was charged $11 dollars for Tito’s and $1.50 for tonic, in all my 70 years I was never additionally charges for tonic! Let alone a little pricey $12.50 for a Tito’s and tonic. I don’t mind paying but please don’t nickel and dime me on a $200.00 dinner for 4 people.

This restaurant is AMAZING! The food is so authentic Italian, not like every other "Italian American " restaurant in Pittsburgh. The real deal! I'm a proud Italian who lives to cook and is very picky... This place is by far the most authentic Italian food outside of Italy. Great service as well. A must-see and go. Great shops around, too.
