Amazing food here! I'm not a vegan but enjoyed it thoroughly.
Unfortunately, no one in our party of four really enjoyed their meal. Ironically, I'm a carnivore and probably enjoyed the food more than my vegan companions. Service was fine, but there are much better options in the neighborhood.
So nice to have the opportunity to eat vegan french food! I've always had difficulty finding what to eat with regard to French cuisine, being both vegetarian and gluten-free. Delice & sarrasin has so many delicious options! I am so happy that I found this quaint an amazing little place! I will definitely return!
I would have never guessed vegan french existed. Was amazing.
The food was amazing! Service was wonderful! The outdoor seating was a bit hot on a hot day, but otherwise was fine! Outstanding and creative vegan dishes!
We loved the idea of high end, vegan cuisine and for the most part we’re not d
Recommended appetizer: Verrine de Saumon, Avocat & Boursin
Vegan cheese platter also outstanding!
This is our second visit, and I cannot say enough good things about the place. Vegan French is a tough niche, and they do it well. The crepes are great. The baked brie was outstanding. We will go again.
Great delicious vegan French food. Escargot and fois gras a favorite
Loved it. Not a vegan but the food is always incredible for all
Outstanding food and the cutest location. I can't wait to go back.
The food was fenomenal, large portions, delicious. But the waiter wasn't wearing a face mask, and seemed bothered. We got there at our 9pm resv but didn't know they closed at 9:30. He rushed my food out but I was worried we were being a disturbance to him. After a nicer table cleared, I asked him if we could move to that one, and he said no because he wouldnt have enough time cleaning it- then, proceded to sit down the rest of the evening, leaving that said table dirty. The food was nice, but if the service is like this all the time I won't be coming back.
I was very exited to try this place as I had never tried a French vegan restaurant, but got very little from the server when asked about the menu. When asked for suggestions, the only thing he said was “everything is good in the menu”. When other tables came after us he was being very particular and explaining dishes he preferred in particular. I ordered Cassoulet Toulousain and it was super salty. When told that to the server, his explanation was that it was because of the wine and the dish had no salt. Very creative explanation. We did not eat that but still got charged for that. Other dishes we tried were good and we loved the wine.
This is my first and last time coming to this restaurant. Upon arrival I felt very unwelcome from the minute I was seated. It took 20 minutes for the waiter to even take our drink orders. When asked for a non-alcoholic drink most options on the menu were unavailable. I settled for the French apple cider and cheese platter and those two things I'd highly recommend. Things seemed to be looking up despite a lackluster beginning to the meal. For my main meal I ordered the beef and after trying my first few bites I couldn't continue eating it. It had almost no flavor and the only thing I could taste was salt. The beef itself had no texture and was almost completely mush. I tried to send it back and it was taken back with seemingly no issue. However when I received my bill the beef was still there and rather than accommodate the waiter decided to argue with and yell at me telling me to "take responsibility for what you order" and "other people liked it your the only one with the issue". When I asked why the situation was so hostile and why yelling was happening I was told "this is just how I talk". If I had known that I would have been charged either way I would have exchanged for something else. This is unacceptable behavior for any restaurant especially over a sent back dish which at any other restaurant is without issue.
There were a few additional issues that also need mentioning. Our reservation was for 9 and despite that we were not informed that the kitchen closes at 9:30. We only found this out overhearing another table's discussion of the matter. Yet somehow at 9:40 after it was supposedly closed another table inside ordered dessert . Overall the worst restaurant experience I've ever had.
If you're black never come here
A cute little gem for vegans / vegetarians (or anyone)! It was refreshing to be able to order anything on the menu and the food was very good -- nothing ground-breaking for those already familiar with the "faux meat" world, but it was a nice change of pace to have things prepared in the style of dishes vegetarians ordinarily never get to order. The french onion soup was a real treat, the beef bourginon and cassoulet both very good and don't sleep on the sides -- the brussels sprouts were delicious and a good portion! And don't skip dessert! Fun location in the heart of the west village but on quiet street (w/ good outdoor seating). Definitely recommend!
Cute outdoor space and nice vibe.
Our waiter was great. Really nice wines and an amazing chocolate cake.
My cassoulet was ok. Mock meats were over cooked and tasted like bouillon cubes.
Such a cute place. The food was fantastic - thank you. The waiter was lovely and on top of his game.
Food was over priced ! Food is overrated! The service was weird.
Best vegan meat substitutes I’ve had
This was our first time trying this place out and we were not disappointed at all! It is not easy to find French vegan food at all and this place proves that delicious vegan French cuisine is possible and delicious. Definitely will come back again!
As always, D&S delivers a wonderful meal. Rich, tasty, satisfying. Very French and it's always amazing that it's vegan. Love this place. The service is impeccable, managing to be attentive and yet not overtly present. The escargot was delicious and the Cocque aux Vin divine. Couldn't think of a better place to spend my birthday.
Love this place! So creative and delicious! Get the escargot :)
Fantastic vegan food (and I’m a dairy lover and non-vegan who was dining with a vegan friend). Well marked menu made things easy to note gluten and soy. So delicious and special, will be back!
This place truly blows me away. It's not inexpensive but the food is truly on another level. It is my must stop in NYC when I visit.
We were eating French food for first time. Crepes were okay. Soup was average.
Delice has become almost a second home to us and it never disappoints. Between how personable and warm the staff is to the service, we will continue to travel all the way downtown and follow Delice wherever they are. ❤️
Food was mediocre. Ratatouille was too salty and crepes were good but the garnish was poor quality avocado dip. I guess some hardcore vegans love this but I was disappointed as a regular foodie and don’t plan to come back
The Brie was outstanding! Can’t wait to go back!!
I love the place and the food is incredible they should be world famous! Now I know where to go when I am missing Paris too much ❤️ eating my childhood dishes but in a vegan version is priceless!
So exciting to finally be able to try French food! The French onion soup and the beef bourguignon were out of this world.
We celebrated our 22 year anniversary dinner at Delice the blue cheese was a standout. The sauce in the beef bourguignon was classic French flavor and it was hard to tell it wasn't real beef. The lemon sorbet was excellent, super tart, and tasted like fresh lemon! We would definitely come back in our next visit to NYC.
Love this restaurant! Amazing flavors and food. Would highly recommend!
As always, Delice & Sarrasin never disappoints and is always the most welcoming restaurant in nyc. We make the trek there often because we absolutely love it and Christophe is the BEST.
First time we’ve eaten out in over a year snd it was lovely! All vegan with many gluten free options, prepared and served well. Great outdoor space that’s socially distanced and blocks the street noise. Loved the Brie, the crab cake, the cassoulet and the buckwheat crepes. Will go back again.
Very interesting vegan food, wonderful flavors, fast service
Good versions of all the classic French dishes. We ate so many interesting things and we didn't even have a chance to try the Crepes, which looked amazing. Next time!!
Vegan French food!!! Seriously the best meal I’ve ever had! As a vegan of 6 years I am grateful to have the opportunity to enjoy French food. I had the coq au vin and OMG petit mort in my mouth
On the recommendation of my vegan daughter, we dined at Delice & Sarrasin. We started with a cheese plate with four selections, all made (I was told) onsite with cashew milk, served with slices of bread and all outstanding. Our three entrees were, ratatouille, coq au vin, and a beef bourguignon. I can only speak for the 'beef', which was nicely done - plenty of carrots and potatoes in a rich wine sauce. I am an omnivore, so even for a vegetal protein meat substitute, it was quite delectable. Texturally, it's not a cube of beef, I get that, but your senses could almost be fooled into thinking otherwise. Interestingly, my wife enjoyed her dinner, but stated afterward that she'd rather go to a vegan place that highlighted the vegetables rather than one trying to make you think you were eating meat. To each his own, I guess. The wine by-the-glass was a bit pricey, which drove up the overall cost of dinner, but a good dining experience nonetheless. The space (inside) is tight fit, but the staff managed admirably.
It was okay food overall, one very annoying thing was that we could not get a meal taken off that one bite was taken out of and wasn’t enjoyed. So we still paid for something that we didn’t like? Appetizers are the best things on the menus.
Omg EVERYTHING was delicious!! Can’t wait to go back!
