Delice & Sarrasin
Delicious crepes, quiet and intimate atmosphere. Will definitely be returning!
I love this place! The food is always amazingly prepared and the staff is simply wonderful!
Very attentive staff and good food. A family member has several dietary restrictions and they could accommodate.
I come to New York regularly on business and due to multiple food allergies, have found this place to be my safe haven in the city. They go the extra mile for vegans with high standards, who who want healthy and beautiful options everyone else can enjoy all the time. To have creative fare like waffles, macaroons, croissants and balanced filling entrees that are also safe, is a rare treat for those of us with allergies. I’ve been vegan for eight years, and this is my first experience getting to enjoy a vegan croissant, ever! Life is complete now. I love that they’ve balanced out their menu with plenty of green vegetable and fresh salad options, as well as mushroom burgers and creative protein replacements, ensuring nutritional diversity. I love supporting a small family run business who are providing long over due culinary equality and care for the allergy and vegan communities. Added bonus; the ambience transports you right to France. Finding French Vegan food is like finding a Unicorn. This is my happiest food find in NYC and one of my top 3 favorites globally. Well done and so much gratitude🙏🏻♥️💙
The service was excellent and we were seated right away. All of the meals my family and I shared were good, but I agree with other reviews that they were heavy on fat and salt. I had a wonderful time there, but left feeling very thirsty and like I wished I’d eaten a few fresh vegetables.
Great vegan food. Very small space only about 20 seats. There was 1 waiter doing everything serving, pouring drinks, answering the phone, ect., so everything took more time than it should have. They need to put a busser or runner on to help the server.
Small locale but clientele leans towards companionable and staff is great. Every time we have gone all of us had great meals and desserts. Sensible portion sizes. As the after lunch period was slow we were welcomed to sit and chat for a couple of hours. Very European! Lovely
Delice & Sarrasin is our new favorite restaurant! As longtime vegans, we have not enjoyed French food for more than 20 years. Imagine our delight to see French onion soup au gratin on the menu, along with the savory crepes we remember!! The service was delightful, the food exquisite, and the atmosphere charming!
Always amazing every time!
Always delightful! Truly love coming here - the food and atmosphere are always wonderful!
My second time here and it did not disappoint. We had the cheese plate to start which is amazing, hard to believe it is vegan!
Normally I love this place, but this time this place wasn’t so great. The food was too salty. We had a reservation for 8:45pm but we had to wait outside and were actually seated at 9:20pm. That’s the longest I’ve ever had to wait to be seated. It was ridiculous. We debated going somewhere else, but I really missed the food here. To be frank, if this was in the middle of winter, we would’ve just went somewhere else.
I hope they improve the experience.
Absolutely loved it! Can’t wait to come back. For the food, the vibe and the service!
We enjoyed food wine and environment. Really suggested for intimate lunch or dinner.
French vegan is a strange sounding combination but do not be fooled, this is delicious food well cooked and presented. The dishes are innovative and very tasty and although they have 'meat-related' names, they are not identical to the meat equivalent but they are excellent in their own right. The descriptions of 'pate' etc, are just descriptions so the diner knows the sort of food that is coming but they are not meant to replicate the same dish containing meat. Go ahead and try some of these and you will be surprised, we were. The place is small and cozy, not too noisy and the service is very good.
Excellent flavors, friendly staff, very reasonable prices. Definitely recommend!
Food wasn’t anything special. Asparagus was boiled and overcooked. Things didn’t not come out timed (while all appetizers were ordered at the same time didn’t come out at same time) well. Also coffee took forever despite not a lot of people. Entrees were overpriced for what was presented. Unless you have some severe food allergies or hold tight to being vegan, wouldn’t return.
The creativity that has gone into the menu is phenomenal. I can barely imagine the difficulty in trying to recreate vegan versions of authentic French dishes, and the food was fantastic. I wish I’d been able to sample more of the menu, but that will have to wait for the next time I’m in the city.
The server was great..friendly, helpful and not hanging over us for a small place. The appetizers were good. The food which should be hot was at room temperature and too salty. Also the wine is served in a carafe and over priced. I did like the decor and the feel of the restaurant.
Second time there. Still amazing! I’m gonna have to come back until I’ve tried everything on the menu. The ‘foie grad’ was incredible!!
If you're vegan and you miss cheese, this is your version of heaven. If you're not vegan and love cheese or just love food, I would highly recommend dining here. Unfortunately I was only in the city for the weekend, but luckily we were able to get in a Sunday brunch at Delice & Sarrasin before departing (Next time I'll make sure to visit for lunch and/or dinner.) The La Bill was so incredibly creamy and amazing! It'll be difficult not to order that next time so I can try something new. The Tartine Club Sandwich was equally as incredible. We ate every bit of both! The staff was welcoming and accommodating and the atmosphere was charming. Can't wait to return!! For now, I'll have to suffice with my memories. (Oh! - I would recommend making reservations as it is cozy and the seating is limited.)
The staff is friendly and courteous and the food is delicious. Really glad that French Onion soup became a permanent item on the menu. Always love the French fries in truffle oil. The new seafood menu item was good too. My favorite French vegan restaurant. I will always recommend it!
Very tiny and friendly spot for a date night or special occasion dinner. The food was incredible and flavorful! I’d love to try out their brunch next time around. I highly recommend! Reservations are a must as well 😊
In addition to these, my party also ordered steak tartare and the crab cakes, both were wonderful especially the tartare!
I am not vegan but wanted to try out plant based food. I can honestly say I won’t be eating vegan in the near future. I am not saying that the restaurant food wasn’t good, it’s just not for me. Very cute place, the tables are pretty small but I loved the ambiance. I can’t comment on the food since I can’t compare it to anything else I’ve eaten vegan.
Food was extremely salty. Total overuse of Daiya cheese, which was disappointing since we were expecting something more sophisticated or a homemade vegan cheese, not your typical grocery store vegan cheese.
We were celebrating a birthday, which we mentioned when making the reservation and such detail was not acknowledged by the restaurant.
Soooooo tasty!! The toasted nut Brie starter blew my friend as i away with its creaminess! I had the ‘coq’ au vin and the sauce was phenomenal! And I had my first vegan Creme brûlée and it did not disappoint!! I will have to come back multiple times just so I can try everything on the menu.
Food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely, I can't wait to return. Thanks!
The vegan cheese plate was delicious, but the “steak” frites had no taste
Got attitude when we asked to switch tables, small wine pours in even smaller glasses, hot NYC day with no AC in the restaurant one
The place is small, quiet, intimate, very delicious but very expensive. Would recommend the pea protein chicken leg.
Wonderful overall experience in this quaint Greenwich Village French Vegan restaurant. Small space, maybe 16-20 seats, so best for small parties.
Food is excellent. Crepes were tasty and filled with delicious non dairy cheese. Good glass of Cabernet as well. Worth a try if you enjoy French food.
My boyfriend and I have been to Delice & Sarrasin twice and it’s quickly become our favorite restaurant. As a veteran vegan, I get the chance to try foods I otherwise never would be able to and as a new-ish vegan, my boyfriend gets to enjoy old favorites. He claims not only does the Soup a L’oignon (french onion soup) taste like the real deal, it’s the best french onion he’s ever had! Our other favorites are the escargot and beef bourguignon, although everything has been top notch. And filling too! Looking forward to checking off each item from the menu, as we will definitely be returning.
We came to Delice & Sarrasin for the first time on Sunday for brunch. We were craving crêpes and finding a place that has good crêpes has always been difficult. Delice & Sarrasin was awesome! It is a beautiful place. The staff was awesome and the food was delicious. We ordered waffles and French toast as well as crêpes to share. I especially liked the French toast. But the crêpes were the best I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to come back again !!
Food was amazing!
Best food in town; vegan or non vegan
We had a great time! Food was really good and innovative. Atmosphere was nice.
My new favorite place to eat in NYC. Staff was incredible and food was amazing! Came back for brunch on Sunday. Already planning another trip to visit again!!!
A lovely little spot with delicious vegan versions of French bistro classics. The French onion soup was delicious!
Love this place. A must visit in New York. Has such a pleasant atmosphere for real, great conversation.
Absolutely fantastic! Totally satisfied my desire for fine French food while maintaining the vegan integrity -- a new favorite for me and it passed muster with my omnivore friends as well. I cannot wait to come back and try more dishes!
