Del Posto Ratings and Reviews
Del Posto delivered an exquisite holiday experience, with a sophisticated menu and the service you would expect from such a top notch restaurant. The food was a wonderful melange of ingredients and tastes. We had the wine pairing which was good but perhaps lacking a little compared to the quality of the food.
The service was quick and efficient but, at times, a bit confusing due to the constant stream of different people attending to your table. A special note of recognition is due to Yelena, table steward with passion and fire for the food and the experience she wants to deliver to her diners.
Del Posto is, overall, an exquisite experience of fine dining. As posh as it may be, it still delivered an experience of warmth and appreciation for its clientele which can sometimes be missing in establishments with such a pre-eminent reputation. It’s well worth the opportunity to enjoy a moment of fine Italian dining at its best.
We booked this at the last minute for our final night in NYC. Somehow we got extremely lucky and were able to get a reservation the day before - probably due to someone else’s last minute cancellation. The down side was that neither myself nor my friend had packed dinner jackets for this trip so we were going in a little underdressed with slacks and sweaters - business casual, as their site advises. This led to the only negative inference I could give about the service as we definitely felt that we were treated a bit differently due to the lack of a jacket on a Saturday night.
The menu was very diverse and, even though my wife and I are well-travelled foodies, we had to repeatedly ask questions about menu items we have never before encountered. The sommelier was excellent and paired us up with a couple of wonderful wines in our desired price range. The actual food was interesting but, honestly, we were not blown away. No one dish soared or fell flat but, after a previous lunch at the Modern Cafe, we were expecting much, much more from a restaurant at this price point and this reputation.
All of us that this was a place to go to once. If we are spending this sum of money, I will be looking elsewhere for dinner or revisit Del Posto during lunch hours when I understand they have a revised prix fixe menu.
Went a year ago and everything was spectacular. Last week we had the eight course tasting menu and wine flight, and though it was delicious and interesting -closing in on $900 for two people was unexciting. Service was not as fantastic as previously, we were there for 40 minutes before receiving any food and my wife was hungry. Atmosphere was great, food was great and delicious and interesting my only negative was service was below expectation as was value. A good deal was our fault as we were blowout celebrating and could have ordered a more value conscious menu.
One of the most memorable and delightful dining experiences of all time. Took my fiancé their for his birthday. He has always raved to everyone he knows how much he loves this place and yet has been in years. Made it a point to try get resos for his birthday. I completely understand the hype. As expensive as it was, and it was, it worth every penny. I called ahead and they were able to take down the cc info so he didn’t notice the bill or attempt to pay. This was a very special birthday and he is one of the most generous selfless people I know so I had no issue with the bill, but could understand not spending it on a casual romantic evening out. The pre-fix was well worth it. We did the 5 course because we typically can’t get through the 8 courses and glad we went with the 5 - we were absolutely stuffed!!!! The wine pairing was perfection. Highly recommend to do the wine pairing. The staff was incredibly thorough in each description of each course in addition they were polite and professional. Hands down an experience I will never forget and will be coming back.
My boyfriend and I have been going to Del Posto for years. Each time we are in Manhattan, we make a point to dine there, and it was always the highlight of our trips to New York. This was our first visit since Chef Ladner left Del Posto, and I am sad to say that it just was not the same. Not only were our favorite dishes gone from the menu, but the new ones that we tried were just missing that something special that always put Del Posto over the top. The food was very good by any means, but not what we had come to expect from Del Posto. The host staff was gracious and welcoming, as always. As was the staff at the bar. And the holiday decor was stunning. The serving staff was terrific too, but for our table captain. She was quite cold and did not seem to want to be bothered to walk through the new menu with us, which was a bit surprising. For Del Posto veterans looking to return, expect some changes.
We have dinner here every year we visit NYC for Thanksgiving week. It has always been amazing but this time we were a little disappointed with some of the food. The service was amazing as always. Not sure if we will return next year when we visit. We always eat our way through NYC for a week while we are there and this was always my favorite.
We were sitting on the second floor and every time a waiter/waitress was passing the floor was shaking as if there’s an earthquake, besides that THE FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE! We had the captain’s menu and each course was better than the previous one! Great fine dining experience, def recommend it! Hope they’ll get their second michelin star soon!
I love great food and I find tasting menus fascinating. Unfortunately, for the price paid, I was not impressed by several dishes I was served. The service was outstanding and the place is fabulous in general. I just expected more from the food. I have been to other MB restaurants in the past and usually, everything is perfect!
This was our first time at Del Posto - had not chosen it before as had the impression of it as a business lunch venue - but it won’t be our last. The food was exceptionally good supported by a super service ethic that was both professional and friendly. The whole set up allowed for an intimate and romantic evening which we really enjoyed.
I was very excited to take a group for a business dinner as I had been to Del Posto several years ago and had the best pasta dish I had ever had. Unfortunately I was very disappointed in the food this time. We were required to have a five course meal due to our size which was fine but I felt that our selections were limited, especially related to pasta choices and the food was not very tasty, it was salty, not served hot and very underwhelming.
