What Insiders Are Saying
Del Posto is one of the best special occasion restaurants in New York City. Think of it like a more upscale Babbo, or Daniel with pasta.
We’ve been a couple of times before to Del Posto, but it seems that they’ve upped their game. It was a bit expensive but every bite was richly deserved. Outstanding food and wonderful service! We will certainly be returning!
We have been fortunate to dine at some of the nicest restaurants around the world and Del Posto is in the top three. Hard to describe how spectacular the whole experience is. This restaurant is expensive but the quality of service, the absolutely delicious food and the gorgeous setting is EXCEPTIONAL.
Del Posto is perfect for a special evening.
This is our special place to go to. I absolutely love the food and drinks. Everything is amazing. Highly recommend the bar seating too. Its alot of fun.
Great Experience. I will be back soon.
Too pretentious - too many servers running around. Veal in vitello tonato was tough.
Thoroughly enjoyed the ambience, but a loud party of 5-6 business guys were given a table next to my wife and I. We asked to move to a quieter table and were grudgingly accommodated. We were given a small table in the corner. There were many tables equivalent to our first table that remained unoccupied during the entire time we were there.
The meal was generally excellent, but the 2 pasta entree option in the 5 course meal is disappointing. One pasta is enough. The larger course option is just too much food for us. For this reason I hesitate to recommend Del Posto.
The service was good, but perhaps somewhat intrusive, by the numerous white jacketed personnel hovering about.
It was a last minute arranged special event. The service staff made the evenly so warm and memorable.
My girlfriend and I had a reservation for 10:30pm on Saturday night because we went to see a Broadway musical. From the minute we arrived at Del Posto, the staff was friendly and super attentive. The ambiance of the restaurant was amazing and the service was first class. I strongly suggest ordering the 8-course Captain’s menu with the wine pairing. Because of the late reservation, we were the last table to leave at 2am and not once did I feel like they were trying to get rid of us.
Was not worth the price. Everyone was very welcoming in exception to the host, who was dissmisive and did not show us to our table for several minutes even though no other parties were waiting. This was a weird interaction because the rest of the staff was very accommodating. Although this restaurant has an excellent wine selection, I was not blown away by the food. I expected to be wowed by the food a Michelin star restaurant. I have had better pasta dishes in the city. If you want a “fine dining” experience I would recommend, but be aware that the food does not quite live up to its price.
To preface the review we are from North Carolina and we have nothing like this type of restaurant in Raleigh.
The food and service was top notch. We received this recommendation from a friend who used to live in NYC as we are in from out of town on our first getaway weekend alone after having our three kids (7, 3, 1). It is definitely a special occasion place as it is a multiple course meal. We opted to do the captain’s choice which was a meal prepared and chosen by the Chef. It was all things we may have never picked on our own but every course was amazing. It is pricey, but the service and the food is certainly worth it. We had such a lovely time.
Best restaurant in NYC hands down! professional wait staff. precision deliver and presentation of the food
Fantastic food and service (as always)
Enjoyed dining here on several occasions but will probably not visit again. The quality of our meals was disappointing and most items were served cold. I expect more from a restaurant where lunch for 4 (including wine) is well over $800.
Really looked forward to the Del Posto experience. My wife got sick after the second course and like a trooper tried to hang in, because there is no going back... she skipped the last three courses, i the last two ....leaving 20% plus of the tasting menu plus wine pairing for the staff. Except for the exceptional bolognese the food was ok. The disappointing part was never a call, email or text from Del Posto to see how my wife was doing , why we left before finishing; not much to ask.
We did three other Michelin Star restaurants that long weekend, much different experience.
Del Posto has consistently well trained, gracious and appropriately informative staff who have perfected their tableside manner. I am always impressed with their knowlege of the foods on the menu as well as the beverages. And the extra added “surprises” that come before and between courses are amazing. It is perfection with the ambiance, as well as the food and wine!
The place is amazing literally the best service we have ever had! The food is not even close to was I was expecting. Wine list is fabulous.
Absolutely worth every penny!! Best birthday dinner with my family. The food, its presentation, ambiance, and service was truly an exquisite, beautiful and professional experience.
Amazing. Once in a lifetime for most special occasion.
Start to finish just a tremendous experience
Food = Meh.
The food service and drinks were amazing! My experiences at Del Posto are always great.
This is our third time here in a year. A couple of the dishes like dessert were outstanding. We ordered gnocchi and for an additional $30 per person they added truffle oil. The sauce was awful which made the dish unappetizing. Not worth the $120 we paid. Dover sole was our main dish. Two of us ordered this. Extremely dry and tasteless. Hard pressed to come back for this price. Will not recommend to friends
Not Cheap but Expensive Place
Excellent. Balance of fine dining and homely opulence. Great for intimate family occasions.
Everything was wonderful. Portions were not at all large ( could say small), but the amuse la bouche were great small supplements. I was disappointed in the bar’s lacking some basic high quality bourbons and vodkas. We had to settle for lesser known brands,, which were not the highest quality. For the very, very high cost of this experience, I was surprised. However, the taste and quality of the food were exceptional, as was the service, and the price reflected that.
Great meal for a birthday celebration. The pasta and dessert courses were particularly amazing.
always a great experience at Del Post. very special. Highly recommend.
Astonishingly good food. Excellent, thoughtful service. We sat and ate and talked for 4 hours, and no one made us feel rushed. It was an exceptional experience on every level.
Just a wonderful restaurant. Terrific food, service and ambiance.
The meal and the experience/service surrounding the meal was fantastic. The one big disappointment was at the beginning. We were a group of five and arrived at different times in advance of a 6:30 reservation. Problem is, the bar area is given up to more diners and so there were only three available tables and all were taken up. They even had place settings on the bar that left no room to even stand at the bar. And so, for a bit, we had to stand awkwardly in the middle of the bar area, but then just agreed to get seated and wait to order at the table until everyone arrived. From that point forward it was a phenomenal experience, but the start was very disappointing. I understand the need to monitize space, but this pushed things a little too far.
It was the best meal i ever had! Amazing!!
Great food and service, however, the 4 of us asked for the wine pairing ($95) and whenever we wanted some more wine, they said you´d had to buy a full glass... I mean, after paying $380 for wine pairing, I´m sure an extra glass for each one wouldn´t be too much and that´s the kind of little details that spoil a great experience.
Our head server, Cory, was truly outstanding!
Always 5 stars and never disappointed
The entire DelPosto staff is always courteous and the chef always brings it to a new level.
After one of the best dining experiences at Del Posto for a November birthday four years ago, we wanted to go again for a very special occasion. It seemed a completely different place. Bar was empty and took forever to get drinks. Our table was in the back stuck next to a wall of wine glasses, so servers interrupted us taking them off the shelves.
Server had a very loud voice which hurt our ears. Service in general lacked sophistication and pacing. Lots of pretentious details that didn't work. The somm was full of rote stories and was excited about the huge bottles of wine they now sell. Tacky. As was the clientele this time.
Bottom line. Food just okay. Baby Octopus & Cacciucco particularly sub-par. Service dull and unsophisticated. Seems like it has turned into a tourist trap rather than what was a top New York restaurant. Disappointed.
So amazing and unique.
Some of the best service I’ve ever received. Treated with ultimate silver service. Food dishes were very good but not the best I’ve ever had.
There are not enough stars to give. Cory and our server ensured we had a memorable experience so much we are going back for dinner this trip. We did the lunch tasting menu and it was exquisite. The attention to detail was second to none and the care they took providing gluten free options for me was incredible. They even had made fresh bread for me! I have not had gluten free pasta this amazing in so long. BRAVO!
