PARKING IS A NIGHTMARE. Spent 40
Minutes in gridlock at Wharf and then told that the garage is full and the valet will not accept any cars. Drove around for 30 minutes and found a place on the street but had to walk a mile to the restaurant. Manager apologized and would “look into this” but already ruined the evening.
Food and service were excellent. However will not return unless they have guaranteed parking spaces for customers as there are many choices in DC and a restaurant like this should have made arrangements for parking. Unacceptable. We were there to celebrate a birthday and the night started terribly wrong.
The restaurant gave us some glasses of champagne and a dessert for our troubles but be wary of you go here as I would recommend not driving here ever.
The food and service was amazing. Great location with a great vibe. Would highly recommend.
Great tapas, great service, and elegant decor in this lovely wharfside restaurant! One of the most fun locations in DC. The only problem is parking as the garage is always full on weekends, so allow extra time to locate the valet parking in front of Intercontinental Hotel.
Absolutely impeccable! We love this place on every dimension, but Stefania pushes it over the top. What a wonderful place.
The best tapas I’ve ever had and one of the best waitresses I’ve ever had - can’t wait to go back
Had my first bad experience at Del Mar. The food is delicious as always, but its Saturday brunch menu offers little by way of a traditional brunch and is very expensive for very small portions. Most disappointing was the rude way in which a manager asked me (57 year old woman) to remove a beautiful and expensive straw hat that I was wearing with a summery dress and heels -- as if I were wearing a baseball cap.
The restaurant was amazing, food was delicious, great presentation and atmosphere. I would say the service as good but our waiter was a bit strange and not very responsive when we spoke to him.
Great location. Good food, nice atmosphere ok service.
Such a special place. Worthy of a special occasion dinner or just a lazy afternoon lunch. Wonderful food, excellent service. Sangria is fabulous. Ibiza seafood tower is a fabulous appetizer for 2 (or more). You really can't go wrong with anything here.
Anniversary was great. A small cake and sparkling wine gratis made it special!
Our waitstaff tried really hard but it was difficult to get them to stop long enough to listen to our orders before sprinting off to the kitchen.
WE had a pleasant anniversary evening and will likely come again. The bartender was especially good in recommending and explaining the drink options.
Fantastic food... wish I could eat here for lunch and dinner every day. We love sitting at the bar as it is on the center of everything ...very cool design let’s you admire the entire restaurant. Definitely a top restaurant in the DC area.
Had a reservation but was early, so we started with some drinks at the bar; their specialty cocktails were real unique. Tried the cheese plate, tomato salad, and stuffed peppers for small plates, and then shared the Paella de Pescado y Mariscos for the three of us. Server gave us an excellent wine pairing and was prompt and wonderful to chat with. Finished with the tarte de Santiago for dessert. Everything about our night out was phenomenal, from the drinks to the service and the food.
Thank you so much for a great birthday experience for my girlfriend. We were so happy. The food and service was amazing. Will be back soon.
With so many new restaurants vying for our attention in the DC area, you have to distinguish yourself to attract and more importantly keep patrons. The Wharf location is a plus for Del Mar and their décor is beautiful. Their elevated tapas and Galician dishes were delectable and the Iberico ham presentation was notable. The $80 pitcher of Sangria was not. The service was polite/knowledgeable but not memorable. It was a bit over $100 per person for 5 for a Sunday lunch. They have a dress code, which we respectfully honored, but the front of the house seemed happy to dismiss it to get tourist with shorts and flip flops in and seated. I would go again with friends or with out of towners. As I undertand tapas, they are small bites, often free of charge in Spain, that are to accompany drinks. Much like true Izakayas in Japan, social houses where small plates are partner with the main course of drinking . If you elevate these dishes beyond the reach of most diners, I worry how they will keep long term patrons who help to sustain any establishment.
Such a great meal! A really special experience we will treasure
The service was excellent, staff was attentive and courteous.food was amazing. May be smaller portions but it's so rich and filling that it doesnt matter. Definitely worth its value!!
Great July 4th food and you could clearly see the fireworks from the restaurant!
The sommelier helped us find a wonderful bottle of wine. We shared the hand carved ham (must order) and chose 3 cheeses. Then had the shrimp (amazing), the croquettes (YUM), and the grilled romaine salad, and a lobster dish that was wrapped in squash blossom and lightly fried. We were stuffed but wish we saved room for churros!
Our dinner was fabulous, the food perfectly prepared and delicious. The service was stellar. We were on the balcony with a wonderful view. Our only negative comment is that it is very expensive.
We live in New York and have been to many nice restaurants, but the beautiful decor at Del Mar offers a luscious Mediterranean vibe, and the warmth and friendliness of the staff while maintaining professional standards, is really special, too. Then, of course, our dinner was fabulous. Especially loved Raquel's recommendations of a couple of tapas items....Croquetas de Jamón y Trufa and the Andalusian Gambas al Ajillo... scrumptious! Oh, and fabulous cocktails too!
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience of dining at Del Mar. I definitely will be recommending it to friends who will be visiting the DC area. Brittany was our server and she was excellent! Can't wait to return!
Very nice. Great food. Excellent service
Cocktails and dessert were great. Spreadable sausage appetizer and service was good too. Unfortunately seafood entrees which we expected to be great were only so-so. You’d expect a place called Del Mar would have excellent seafood, but they didn’t.
An amazing dining experience! Perfect for any foodie!!!
Exceptional food, drinks, and service. For the birthday girl, my new wife, it was an exceptional end to our wedding weekend and her birthday. The pace at which all the different dishes came out was incredible, and certainly made our experience extraordinary. Thank you very much!
Great birthday meal!
Overall good experience. My wife and I were celebrating our 25h wedding anniversary and while the food overall was amazing, I was disappointed the restaurant charged us for a dish we returned to the waiter after only taking one bite as the taste was not pleasing. This action taken by the restaurant left a negative feel to a special night for my wife and I.
Beautiful venue. Table was fine at first but then tables filled and it got way too noisy. We found it a bit difficult to put together our orders so as to have enough to eat but not too much. The food was good but overpriced. Service was pleasant but not speedy. We didn’t feel we would go back, though it was nice to see the wharf area.
High expectations weren’t met re view. I was disappointed, booked Del Mar specifically for the upper balcony view of the water. The balcony was closed, the outdoor seating didn’t have a view. The brunch menu was limited, with few seafood options, less the crudos (raw). What we had was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented.
The service and the food were phenomenal. Will definitely be back. The paella was definitely the star of the show but everything we ordered was five stars.
Our experience at Del Mar was great! The staff was extremely professional, knowledgeable and the food was great. They allowed plenty of time for ordering and did a great job explaining the menu and providing recommendations. Throughout the dinner the management visited the table and made sure everything was alright. They allowed us to take our time and even provided a free dessert since we were visiting from out of town. Overall, everyone had a memorable experience. Highly recommended!!
Went for a Birthday celebration and the Staff and the food were amazing. The setting and atmosphere are beautiful. Highly recommend!
Cocktails were great!
Nice place for dinner or just drinks on the Wharf. Always crowded, so make a reservation days in advance or hope for space at the bar. Have had the seafood paella every time. Usually great, this time not so much.
Not quite warm, not quite enough rice. We didn’t complain and still ate all. Tasted great, just not as good as the last few times.
We will still come back.
Cocktails were delicious. Food was excellent. Ambiance was lovely.
Expensive but worth it. Every dish was perfect from appetizer to dessert. Chocolate mousse with rock salt and thyme was a treat.
Three ladies for Lunch! We tried five or six tapas dishes and enjoyed them all! From heirloom tomatoes salads, shrimp dish, green salad with strawberries, classic egg dish and even a chocolate dessert were delicious . These are small plates but it gave us a nice variety to try a lot of things at one sitting. The service was perfect and very helpful in describing the dishes for us to choose what to try. Nice afternoon not being rushed.
