Amazing service and experience. Perfect spot for celebrations.
Have been to Del Mar several times now and everything is delicious. The food is thoughtfully done with simplicity but bursting with flavor. Highly recommended.
We had to wait about an hour and 15 minutes for our reservation (we chose outdoor seating) so that wasn’t fun at all BUT the service, comp champagne, and comp dessert more than made up for it. Not to mention, that was the best meal I’d had in quite a long time. Compliments to the chef.
I’ve been here multiple times but i made it a point to come once they opened back up to show my support for one of my favorite restaurants. I specifically come for the seafood paella and I’m always satisfied with the quality and the service.
Great spot for good paella
Sangria was ok, nothing special.
The food was excellent we will go back
The food was great, the tapas were smaller but still a good portion. We got to try several different amazing dishes, definitely a great experience. The staff was very nice and friendly.
I'm not sure if they were understaffed,
but service was very slow. It took 20 minutes to get our sangria. Our server suggested some bread while we waited for our paella, which would take 30 minutes, but the bread came a minute before the paella. We knew the restaurant was pricey but didnt expect the portions to be so small. Our paella for two had 2 prawns, maybe 6 mussels, and a few pieces of seafood. The rice was stuck to the skillet it was served in. After $200 we left hungry.
The open air dining area, under a big tent, is in an unfortunate location, in the middle of a u-turn for traffic coming off the street. It all made for a not-so-pleasant dining experience. On the plus-side the hostesses were very charming and pleasant.
Horrible experience with the food and service.
Another fantastic brunch at Del Mar. great spot in the dining area to the side. Delicious food and great service. Very enjoyable.
Phenomenal service, phenomenal food. Our server went above and beyond with his recommendations for our drinks and meals.
Amazing brunch to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary! Weekend brunch special is perfect with 2 tapas and a dessert per person. We got the eggplant, creamy fritters, calamari, and branzino. Loved each dish!
the food and drinks were absolutely delicious! we received amazing suggestions from the bartender for our first round of cocktails. I did find that there was quite a lag in our service, after being seated, we waited about 20 minutes to order, and waited again for quite a while at the end for the check. everything in between was absolutely amazing
Thank you so much to everyone at this restaurant for doing such an amazing job from start to finish. The hostesses were super friendly and offered hand sanitizer before we entered. Thank you so much to our server, Benjamin, for being so friendly and helpful with my friend who has celiac disease. The following dishes were great as gluten-free options for anyone who has dietary restrictions! To start, we had three cheeses (the blue cheese was my favorite) and Jamón Ibérico - the best cured ham I’ve had in DC. Next, their patatas bravas were fried to a perfect golden brown, and had an absolutely delicious garlic aioli on the side. The red pepper and eggplant was light and had really nice flavors throughout as well. The txongurro was one of my favorites, I could bathe in that sea urchin sauce that was under the crab stuffed piquillo peppers, it was the perfect balance of light and savory. Nothing can stand up to their paella though, which had the most perfect crust underneath. The paella was our final course, and even though I was stuffed, we still made a significant dent in it before packing the remainder to go. We ended the meal with a gluten-free peach flan, and a non gluten-free dessert for me, the pastelitos (so so good!). All of the courses were timed to hit the table perfectly without any lag between, which I know is really hard to do! Kudos to Benjamin for going the extra mile. Everything was just exquisite. You can tell this is a restaurant that takes pride in their food and hospitality. We will be back soon!
Highly recommend the paella and pairing it with 2-3 tapas dishes. Highly recommend the churros and soft serve ice cream---delicious!! Service was great. Decor is beautiful. We sat outside on the upstairs terrace until the lightning/thunderstorm forced everyone inside. Staff was quick to re-seat us and were very attentive and apologized for the weather--which obviously they cannot control. They went as far as not charging us for our desserts and after dinner port; which came as a pleasant surprise to us and, as much as we appreciated the gesture, was not necessary.
We ate outside and was very nice. Fast service and good food. Perfect spot on the waterfront
Lovely restaurant. Delicious foods. Beautifully decorated restaurant.
Service was on point.
However, i will mention when we were seated at a booth I was informed I was not allowed to seat on the cushion/booth side.
I had to sit in the chair looking towards the kitchen. I thought that was interesting as others were sitting on the booth side.
Didn't matter highly recommend this restaurant.
Even with COVID restrictions the dinner was a great experience. The customer service was excellent, the food was phenomenal, and the atmosphere was everything we expected.
Del Mar is my favorite restaurant at the wharf. I’ve gone a couple times by myself and with a friend or two but this time I brought a bigger group of 5 of us. We all had an incredible time and they agree that this is the best restaurant on the wharf. We came for the espresso martini’s and the food blew us away. Thanks so much as always!
Food and Service was amazing. I will definitely go back. We celebrated my husband's birthday and he throughly enjoyed himself from the cocktails to the food. We had a great culinary experience.
First time dining here. Really great service and very good food.
Del Mar was simply outstanding! My husband and I came here to celebrate our wedding and marriage as newlyweds. The moment we arrived every person we came into contact with was welcoming, polite, accommodating, and honestly just went over the top for us. We were given two glasses of champagne and a dessert for our special event. On top of that, the food itself was absolutely amazing! The decor and style of the restaurant was so beautiful and trendy! We had an amazing time and would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone for any occasion, big or small!
Perfect outdoor seating on patio overlooking the water, wonderful food and spectacular service -- they even threw in the churros for free when we couldn't decide between those and the cheesecake for dessert (both were delicious). Really a perfect special-occasion experience.
Food and service was excellent and I would come back again
Great food, sat outside, the staff was super nice and helpful
Waited an hour to be seated indoors even though we made a reservation for patio seating. Checked in numerous times with the hostess to confirm our reservation and seating preference only to be met with attitude. Ruined our evening
overpriced for what you get. NO thanks waited too long to get served.
Superb presentations, thoughtful (read safety-conscious) service, reminiscent of Spanish or Italian al fresco, unhurried, delightful dining
Perfect place to celebrate! Ask for Benjamin as your waiter. He made our anniversary so lovely.
The wait staff was amazing but the head hostess was quite rude.
Best dinner I have had in a long time. Great service and fantastic drinks.
Food is not kid friendly. Service was slow. Waiter seamed inconvenienced at any request. The ice cream was not good.
Everything was perfect!
Our service was amazing and the food was delicious. We were also given a complimentary cheesecake which was delicious.
Was excited to go to Del Mar based on photos on Instagram. I came with the intention to spend lots of money. Made a reservation and got sat at a small table. When I asked for a booth they told me those table were for reservations. Even though I had a reservation they still sat me at the other table. There was no room for my purse and barely room for the food. I ordered several Tapas and drinks. They were delicious. I then ordered the Seafood Paella for 2 and we got 1 (ONE) Shrimp, 4 mussels, 1 oz of fish and 1/2 of a lobster tail for $68. Not to mention, some couple came in and the entire service staff waited on them hand and foot where as we got mediocre service. Maybe it was because we were not dressed up. I wasn't even interested in dessert or ordering anything else. we paid the $157 bill, left a $30 tip, left hungry and went to get ice cream at cold stone. Will not be back.
It was a great experience. This is my second time to Del Mar and it was awesome. This time it was not as busy due to the restaurant restrictions. My first time I was not pleased but Del Mar invited me back and I was not disappointed. The staff were extremely attentive, friendly, and professional. All the dishes I had including patatas bravas, jamon, garlic shrimp, and paella were delicious and of the highest quality in flavor and preparation. Del Mar is now on my list of DC’s best.
Meh. That’s kinda how I’d describe the food and the outside situation. The inside might be better. Possibly the worst patatas bravas I’ve ever had...
great outdoor seating. felt safe with the covid precautions taken
My first experience was much better than my most recent one unfortunately. Though I know we are in much different times being COVID and all, a few things remain 1) listen more than talk if you’re a server - our server talked so much he screwed up 2 dishes we ordered. He corrected the order after being called out but STILL charged us for everything, 2) don’t let the main course look like it’s leftovers from the day before - unfortunately the Paella looked like it was cooked 3 times before it got to us. The taste was ok, but it 100% was not fresh at all 3) if you’re going to charge almost $500 for a meal where 2 of the customers are 7 year old children, the food better be worth it. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case this time for us at Del Mar. The ambiance there is still stellar though.
Perfect service, beautiful ambiance at the terrace upstairs. Not enough time to enjoy such meal with the new restrictions (reservation limited to 90 minutes).
