Very expensive but if you're going to drop a lot of money on a meal this is the place to do it. Great service, food and ambiance.

We had a pre-theater tapas dinner that was delicious & lovely. The restaurant itself is stunning, the service was very attentive & helpful, and the food was very tasty. We’ll have to return when we can stay longer.

Without reservation, this was the best dining experience I've had in DC. It was a very special occasion for me and the future in-laws and all three of us found ourselves, too often, distracted from our own engaging conversation by how amazing the entire experience was.

Food - Beautifully plated with high-quality ingredients. We ate delicious works of art. Pro-tip: The churros are the best in the city (that I've found anyway). We each ordered their version of the gin & tonic. If I had to pick on anything, it would be this drink. It was a bit too sweet and the Tangeray glass that it was served in seemed a little tacky -- Especially, compared to the rest of the silverware and plates which were lovely. A minor detail really.

Atmosphere - Everything seemed thoughtfully picked out. There were even throw blankets in our section of booths. We didn't need it but how many times have you wished you had one? The pictures online don't do the decor any justice. My favorite part was probably the bar area with its modern theme with a retro twist (or is it the other way around?). It was a little loud for an intimate conversation but that's b/c the scene was lively and fun - A healthy buzz if you will.

Despite great food and beautiful decor/setup, we were most impressed by the service. It seemed like all staff (not just servers) knew the menu inside an out. Our server was beyond patient with us and had great recommendations. I will no doubt be back and hope to have him help us again.

If you are looking to impress your date or the in-laws, make a reservation here!

Food excellent. Staff friendly and attentive. Interesting location. Would have preferred less noise, but this is an age thing. It seems young people like buzz - I like conversation! Yes, would return.

Booked for a special meal, most disappointing food I have ever had. I hate complaining, but everything was coming out cold/lukewarm. The waiter took food off the bill and tried their hardest to compensate, but if you dont get the food you expect its too late by this point really. Very very disappointed and hungry by the end of the night. But thank you to Richard, the waiter, for trying to make it less disappointing.

Despite I reserved two weeks ago noting that this is my husband’s birthday. I had to call them to get their attention. Also I specifically requested a window seat (water front), they first took us to some other part. Also after they checked us in, they forgot about us and We waited untilI I reminded the receptionists that we have not been seated. This was not a good welcome!

I would recommend Del Mar for a special occasion. The noise level was a little to loud for a conversation across the 4 top tables.

My fiancée took me there to celebrate my birthday and we split a paella dish that had lobster, shrimp, calamari, and mussels. It was delicious!

Our drinks were very good; I had a couple Ilusion cocktails because the bourbon they used was great.

We also split a flan dessert with vanilla custard that was amazing.

Service was excellent and hospitality was very good. We will be back.

Del Mar is a delightful restaurant. We enjoyed our evening thoroughly. Prior to dinner a walk along the water sets the mood. We started with oysters on the half shell. They were good but extremely tiny and the sauce served with them was really too strongly flavored for the delicate oysters. We had a three cheese plate. The cheeses were just the right amount. The accompanying olive cracker was just crisp enough and did not fight the cheese. We ordered a side of the bread and I strongly recommend that. Crusty on the outside but airy on the inside. The seafood paella was very good, but the rice was a bit mushy. The sopapilla stuffed with chocolate for dessert are the absolute best and worth every calorie in them.
There is a moderately good selection of bourbon choices.

The food and service was amazing! We went for my birthday and everyone from the door greeter to the waiter to the fellow who poured the water recognized my birthday--a nice touch. The food is different, fresh and delicious. We went kind of early (5:45pm) and as the evening went on it got louder and louder, almost too loud to carry on a conversation. This was my second visit to Del Mar and I would go again.

Incomparable experience at trendy DC Wharf. With a Spanish influence it is among the best seafood I’ve had in years at the east coast. Instant catch for foodies! Thanks chef. The place is exquisitely decorated. Staff is serviceable and very efficient. Special applause for Israel (attendant) and Monica (host and PR). Can easy understand why Del Mar by Fabio Trabucchi is becoming one of DC’s favorites.

This is a beautiful restaurant. My husband is a carnivore and I'm a pescatarian, so the menu options made it a challenge for us to order, because a good number of the menu items served two or more. He ended up with a $68.00 steak (sides priced separately) that wasn't on the menu. I had seafood dish that's served 2 so I had to get take most of it home, but that option is not condusive to going anywhere else but home so you can refrigerate immediately, which we didn't plan to do.

This was a fabulous dinner. As usual, the entire staff are experts. the tapas were great and perfectly prepared and our main course...fish was outstanding. I normally let the restaurant select a wine for me. The only stipulation i placed was that it be a wine from Galicia. They picked a lovely white wine for our meal. I love my meals at Del Mar.
