Del Mar Rendezvous Ratings and Reviews
I came here for a date with my girlfriend who is a vegetarian and it was fantastic! There is a separate menu section with vegetarian options and the vegetarian miso soup was delicious for both of us. Definitely a must try. I'll be back for more date nights because she loved it too!
The atmosphere was low key, had a table outside right next to a heater, so I was comfortable the entire evening. The food was amazing! The best chinese cuisine I have EVER had. Presentation was beautiful and the food was DELICIOUS. I would DEFINITELY recommend this restaurant!!
The service is excellent and the food is very tasty.
The primary issue I had is with the portion size. I ordered a special Kung Pao shrimp dish during lunch and it came with very little shrimp and lots of rice.
I don't feel this is acceptable for a fairly costly restaurant.
I enjoyed the San Diego Restaurant Week specials. Throughout dinner, we were astonished about how the food was prepared...how did they make the Firecracker Calamari so light and crispy in a sweet chili drizzle that tasted like a candy treat, the Five-spice Braised Beef with a deep brown sauce of subtle flavors of Chinese herbs, cinnamon, and star anise that made white rice a perfect palette, Beef that yields to chopsticks with a special tenderness of 4 hours in the pot. I topped it off with a cake that had multiple layers of chocolate flavors and textures. My wife's meal started with Ahi that had a delicate toasted crunchy sesame crust on a perfect sear. Her Kung Pao was different that usual because of the tenderest pieces of Filet Mignon that balanced well with a scallions and peanuts. And the finishing course of Carrot Cake was light, fluffy and not too sweet, which emphasized our impression of dinner that had the most subtle flavors mixed with equally awesome preparation of familiar Chinese dishes.
We had a fabulous lunch and their wine list is very extensive and reasonably priced. We would come weekly if we lived in the area! We were going to have lunch again the next day but our driver called and due to traffic we had to leave for airport earlier. Bummer, we will be back!
