Del Frisco's Grille - NYC Ratings and Reviews
There were initial problems with two of the four meals ordered. One salmon entree was cold when served and a steak salad was served with bacon when the order requested no bacon. Additionally two patrons ordered salmon cooked at different degrees of wellness. They were served to the wrong diners.
These errors were corrected, waitstaff and management were very accommodating, and we were given complimentary drinks. Errors happen, the way they are handled are an important factor in the judgment of the quality of the restaurant.
Del Frisco’s in my view is very high quality restaurant.
If not for our wonderful server, this experience would have been a total disaster. The filet mignon was rare although we requested medium so it was returned. In addition, it was so salty and on the fatty side which I have never experienced before with Filet Mignon. The worse part of the evening was sitting directly next to the restrooms which had long lines all night long which meant we had visitors by our table most of the evening. The staff kept trying to herd the crowd away from us. Thanks for trying. I did request a candle to be lit when dessert arrived and this did happen which was nice. We were all very disappointed in this experience with the v exception of our server.
I had set up a reservation for my parents to have dinner prior to a show at Radio City and wanted them to be cozy, and have a delicious meal. They loved it and told me all about it the next day. It was great to hear they had fun, the food was excellent and the setting was nice without being stuffy. I hope to set up a family dinner there in the future!
In town for New Years Eve and selected based on proximity to Rockefeller Center since we wanted to squeeze in seeing the tree, skating rink, etc before heading off to 8:00 Broadway show. It was an excellent choice! Restaraunt was understandably crowded and we waited a few minutes to be seated, but service was friendly and quick, and everyone was pleased with the food—steaks cooked perfectly, and don’t miss the artichoke heart beignets for appetizer!
My wife's steak arrived overly seasoned with too much pepper, making it inedible for her. We asked the waitress to have a new one made without seasoning and they were very accommodating. The manager came to apologize and checked back, along with the waitress, to make sure the new steak was acceptable. They even brought out some fresh sides with the new steak since the original ones were now cooled after waiting for the new steak. Excellent service!
Unfortunately not a great night for the Del Frisco crew. Our table was in direct traffic by kitchen and cashier. Food took over 40 minutes to be delivered. One entree was cold Service was sub par and overall experience for a party of 3 and $185.00 was not good. Maybe they had an off night. Really expected better.
As a couple, last year we began a new tradition of visiting the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, Saks Fifth Avenue and St Patrick's Cathedral during the week between Christmas and New Year's. In addition to visiting these locations, we were looking for a restaurant in the area to also have dinner. A family member recommended Del Frisco's Grille on Rockefeller Plaza. We made reservations, not knowing what to expect since the restaurant was right smack in the middle of the Holiday hustle of Rockefeller Center. Although a bit noisy (which should be expected during this time of year) our experience was so wonderful we made reservations again this year. From the front door host, to the managerial staff, to our server to the bus staff, all treated us professionally. Our server greeted us by name and although busy, she took the time to update us on new menu items we might be unfamiliar with from our last visit, helped us choose a a special cocktail and discussed ideas for appetizers and our main course. And of course all of our choices were delicious. Her bubbly attitude, knowledge of everything and personal touch made our visit a memorable one. When returning to Rockefeller Center to make more memories, Del Frisco's Grille will again be on our list. Thank you.
We were really looking forward to the steak experience at Del Frisco's because my daughter raved about it from the restaurant in Boston. The steak was overly seasoned and very peppery. It was a bit of a disappointment as it was not described as seasoned, let alone heavily seasoned, on the menu. With steak that good (and at that price), you expect it to speak for itself and be serve just beautifully grilled but not drowning in seasoning. The scallops, on the other hand, were done to perfection. And the desserts, outstanding!
We enjoyed celebrating my spouse's birthday for a lunch with family and young children (5&7). The grille was conveniently located at Rockefeller center near all the great shopping and amenities. Our hostess seated us promptly with our reservation but first at a drafty table near the front door with frosty 17deg winds swirling around us. She did pleasantly reseat us at our request and the service was prompt and cheerful. Our lunch of prime rib sandwiches had more fat and gristle than expected. In fact, my wife picked out about half the contents of her sandwich because of this! In any case, we enjoyed the company and the nice atmosphere of the restaurant. The children behaved and a good time was had by all!
Very polite staff, great food. Steaks where perfectly seasoned and cooked, also very tender. It is not the cheapest steak in town but was the best steak I had in a long time and believe that it will be hard to get a better one. Location is also a plus, very convenient after a tour at Rockfeller Center or Radio City Hall
