Del Frisco's Grille - NYC Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was cold. We asked for the heat to be turned up and the waiter said he would contact the building. Contact the building????? I sat next to the vent. The little air coming out was cool air. I had to dine with my coat over my legs and then over my shoulders. On my way to the ladies room I noticed that the rest of the restaurant was cool too. The service was mediocre, as was the food. I was disappointed in the meal. Especially being Del Frisco’s. I expect more.
I was welcomed and seated immediately. My server was attentive and friendly. I ordered the Brick Chicken and it was delicious. It was tastefully seasoned, well cooked and tender. The sauce was very nice. The potatoes were like home cooking. The asparagus was a large portion. Al though the restaurant was busy, having a reservation was important, but I was not rushed and treated well although I was dining alone. I will return.
Reservation was made 6 plus weeks in advance. Had show/theatre tickets the same evening as part of an early Christmas outing w/ my bride. After 35 minutes of waiting in a crowded/loud/confined area, we told the Mgr and slew of hostesses that we were extremely disappointed w/ the bar crowd that took priority over patrons that actually tried to plan ahead for a great dining experience. We had to leave or we would have missed our ticketed Broadway show. Additionally, this is an extremely poor place to have an intimate dinner due to the loudness all throughout the property. Will never recommend or frequent this establishment again. Cannot even put into words the disappointment we felt.
Del Frisco’s Grille never disappoints! We arrived early and found a seat at the bar. The bar tender made us feel welcome and we decided to forego our table and enjoy lunch at the bar! The deviled eggs were scrumptious and the pizza was perfect. Of course, the highlight was the luscious lemon cake for dessert!
Understandably busy due to Christmas time in Rockefeller Center. We were sat on time for our reservation and our waiter was great! Friendly and knowledgeable. The steak and the wine were outstanding! The Caesar salad was standard and had too much dressing on it. Our drink and appetizer at the bar while waiting for the table were great as well. The bartender could have been nicer and more hospitable. Instead he seemed annoyed by how busy the restaurant and bar was, which is odd since bartenders earn a living from tips. We will go back for the fantastic rib eye!
We waited over half an hour for our reservation. We were seated in front of a door that kept swinging open and blowing a gale force wind at us at a table that was still stuffy. We asked to be moved which we were but we weren’t brought water without asking and I had to ask for bread to which the waitress begrudgingly brought it to me. The food was ok. Not nearly as good as the steakhouse. The service was terrible. I shouldn’t have to make 30 minutes for a reservation to get a dirty table. I won’t be back.
We had a 7:45 reservation on Tuesday, December 5th, 2017. We arrived almost an hour early and were told it would be very quick since some people canceled due to rain/weather.
After 45 minutes, our table still wasn't ready. We didn't go to the bar for a drink thinking it would be quick, but it was not.
I had been to this establishment many times before and never experienced this kind of chaos. I had also been during the height of the holidays. In retrospect, I would choose the alternate location and take a taxi to see the tree at Rockefeller Plaza.
I know this is a busy time, but to be told we didn't have to wait (an hour early) for our table and it was going to be ready within 15 minutes, they missed out on us having a drink or two at the bar, as well as having us waiting for our name to come up. Please do not tell your customers they will be seated right away an hour earlier and have it over an hour and a half later to be seated.
Big Fan in Past
We come here fairly often when in that part of the city.
The food never disappoints and the service is great.
My only negative is that they never seem prepared for the holiday season even though they are situated right in Rockefeller Plaza.
There is always a 30 minute wait even with a reservation.
Unfortunately for us, this time that 30 minutes was the difference between drizzling rain and pouring rain, so we weren't able to enjoy the sights after dinner.
I commend the young ladies working the frenetic reservation stand for their patience and tolerance of irate tourists and inebriated business people. :-)
Overall, I would absolutely recommend and we will be back again and again.
It was crazy busy, which was expected....even though we got seated 30 minutes after our original reservation time, all was good. The Hostesses were extremely professional and friendly despite the insane frontdoor rush and activity...p.s-the sweet potato fries were terrific.....the regular fries were cooked with no thought or regard to quality or presentation, and simply served as a soggy mess and sadly non edible .... P
Daughter and I both had filet mignon with sides of veggies. Both steaks ordered medium, yet mine was much rarer than hers. She complained that steak was overly seasoned with pepper, even with the bairnaise sauce on it. Broccolini was good and asparagus was tasteless, and even though we both like crisp veggies, both under-cooked.
We have both been to the Del Frisco Grill in TX. We think the standards lower at this location perhaps because it is in middle of tourist area...There are other steakhouses in NY to spend your money at.
Went for lunch before the rockettes, quiet when we arrived, super busy when we left. Food and service were excellent. My only complaint was the cutting board like platter they served my burger on. It was messy, and a normal plate would have been preferred. The ahi tuna tacos were AMAZING.
We had an absolutely fabulous meal, service and overall experience at Del Frisco’s tonight! Our party increased by 2 making us a party of 10. The host Michelle and her colleagues were amazing in accommodating this huge party that included 5 kids. Michelle went out of her way to make us feel welcome and we so appreciate it! Jimmy was our server, he was fast, informative and accommodating. Jasmine, we had the pleasure of interacting with a few times during our meal and she was wonderful and SO funny! We hAve a large family that is sometimes met with rolling eyes when we try and eat out in the city, this restaurant not only accommodated us warmly but they all went out of their way to make us feel welcome. AND OMG best burger I have ever had and the calamari was to die for. Thanks guys you made our night great!
The prime rib is spectacular. Creative cocktails. Scallops on a delicious lemony polenta were perfectly cooked. Very good desserts. The one disappointment was calamari which was too spicy and what was mostly on the plate was the batter and jalapeno slices-- very little actual calamari.
Had a reservation for Saturday evening. We were seated on time. Great views of tree in Rockafellar Center from patio and bar. The atmosphere was extremely loud. Our server was prompt however they forgot to bring our food up. It was cold on arrival but the management quickly remade the food. Overall the food was very good but just a difficult place to have a conversation for a Saturday evening dinner. Location was exception for an evening near Rockafellar Center.
Would consider returning for a lunch or later afternoon meal
we have been to the Del Friscos before, near the Rockerfellar Tree, NYC. and have been satisfied. However this visit, not so good. While the 5 of us still at the hostess station waiting to be seated, a very drunk patron at the bar stumbled over to us and fell into myself and 2 kids. Very unnerving, unexpected for 6pm on a Saturday night in this caliber restaurant. ordered 2 filets med/well because waitstaff said they would still be pink in the middle. They were well done. Didn't see any staff in a timely enough fashion to send back. Others needed to start eating so we didn't send them back. Should have.
This was our first time at Del Frisco’s Grill and enjoyed ourselves immensely. I had the stroganoff and my wife had the rock chicken and both were delicious. They were quite busy on a Friday, but everything was brought to us quickly, everyone was hustling. We will definitely visit again the next time we are in NYC.
