Del Frisco's Grille - Chestnut Hill Ratings and Reviews
The food was excellent, but expensive. The cost makes this a special occasion venue. The seating by the bar was not optimal, however the bar server was quite accommodating with changing television channel when requested.
Overall, the quality of the food makes this a place to return to, but only on special occasions when it is justified to "splurge" a bit on cost.
It continues to amaze me that a server doesn’t know anything about wine etiquette, ie: holding the bottle with hand over label when pouring (to keep label clean), correct pour level in glass (if a customer buys an entire bottle of wine, there is no need to fill the glasses to the rim!) and after the wine taster assents to the bottle, his/her glass is filled last after their dinner companions.
The host was fabulous, the food was fantastic, but our waitress was rude and obviously not in a good mood. She was never pleasant throughout the whole meal, then when I left the table for literally two minutes the waitress asked my fiancé if she was finished eating.I expect more from a restaurant like this, and to treat my fiancé like that on Valentine’s Day is unforgivable!
Food was delicious. Service was mediocre. Had to ask for water and bread. Waited awhile to clear the table. Not up to par service wise for a high end restaurant.
Staff at front desk also mediorcre for this type of restaurant. No valet parking and it was hard to find a space. No hp parking even close to the entrance. Would not be in a rush to return even though the food was very good.
My girlfriend And I have been To Del Frisco's many times, for lunch, brunch, and dinner. We always have a fun positive experience. The staff are very polite and professional, and the food is always excellent. The specialty drinks are very good too, as well as the wine selection. We do recommend Del Frisco's to everyone we know.
First, my salad was missing tomatoes. Next , my wife's steak was undercooked and had to go back to get warmed up. Then she could't even eat it because it was overpowered with Salt to the point it would leave an awful aftertaste. My wife is definitely not picky and has never had a bad filet mignon until this one. In my honest opinion , not worth the money , I have gone to much cheaper Steakhouses and got much better food and value.
Dinner was really delicious, booth was gorgeous, had a great time. Service was not awesome, but was fine. Was a bit disappointed to have kids seated right next to our obvious business dinner, but we survived. Beef short ribs were incredible and cocktails delish. Will try this place again for a better outcome!
i've been to other locations and enjoyed my food and experience.
Everyone had a steak and everyone's steak was over-seasoned and over cooked.
sides were very small portions and very pricey
service was not very attentive.
when i asked for a spoon for desert, i was handed a serving spoon and was told that it was all she could find.....seriously, the only spoon in the restaurant????
Service was slow - 10 min to get a drink order in. 10 more get the drinks. 10plus more to give our dinner order. A casual night out ended up being a 2.5 hour affair and we only ordered one drink and no wine. Not that I don’t mind a leisurely dinner.
I ordered prime rib bone in. Sorry we sold out. What? It’s only 830 Saturday and the place is packed. Ok. But we have a bone rib-eye, medium rare. Great I’ll have that. My wife order salmon.
30+min later - the ribeye arrives well done and with scallops. No mention of scallops when we place the order. The French fries are bottom of the barrel 1” Long and nit crisp .
Sent the steak and the side fries back. 25min later a huge ribeye arrives very rare and presented by the chef with apologies. The fries r only slightly longer and still soft. Oh well.
The roasted asparagus was only have editable with ultra thick at the bottom. The grilled broccolini was the same.
Four bites of the steak was all I could do. Pack it up for stake and eggs in the morning?
The waitress comped is dessert which was appreciated. Our interaction with us was considerate and friendly. Just not present enough to see what was happening.
The bill came and the ribeye was $50 including an up-charge for the surprise scallops. The steak was $8 more than the prime rib that I initially ordered. It would have been appropriate to have been informed of that at the time of ordering; and that scallops were more. Btw the scallops were perfect. Salmon was excellent.
We paid the bill and left. By then it was 1030pm.
Del Frisco is coming to Boylston just around the corner from where we live. Not likely we will venture in. Too big too chaotic to have proper care given to food and clientele.
Made reservations 2 weeks before my husbands birthday for a Saturday night at 8:30. Waited a 1/2 hour to be seated and arrived on time with entire party. Restaurant is very crowed and loud. Food is ok, but had better steaks at less well known restaurants. Majority of steaks were ordered medium and came out looking like sushi. I ordered mine Well done, and it was very pink, but the dog enjoyed it. Steaks were very salty. Nothing was spectacular. They ran out of wine glasses and our table had to wait an extra 20 minutes while they cleaned some to pour us our wine. Bizarre. Meal was $540 with one alcohol drink per person. Complete waste of money! Waiter was very nice, but the place is not well run. Very disappointing!
We had a reservation and told them it was a birthday celebration but were given a small noisy table in the front. Check in staff was rude and unwelcoming. Food was nothing special and overpriced for the value. We were considering having a special event for 20 people there in February but eliminated them as an option. Only positive was the waitress who was helpful and friendly.
My first experience at DF will have me return, quite possibly for my birthday next month! My friend and I had a workout on MLK day at LifeTime Fitness, and decided to take full advantage of our day off with a lunch here. While we did not have a full experience in terms of time of day, the 2 sides I had were pretty exceptional for ordinary choices. Mashed potatoes and broccolini are not exciting, but at DF it was a gourmet meal, from the creamy potatoes to the zest of the lemon broccolini. And then as if Christmas/Hanukkah was extended, our desserts came. The Nutella bread pudding my friend ordered was delicious but my Coconut Cream pie can only be described as a cathartic moment in time. Again, we were the first guests there for lunch and it was about 20-30 minutes before people began arriving, so ambiance was difficult to assess, but it is a large lovely space without being pretentious. $30 for two sides and dessert /coffee may seem exorbitant, but the sides were worth it and the desserts FYI are of sharing size. I did not see a note about the portions on the menu, but after my friend & I had several bites, I still have enough for a serving tonight and a serving for tomorrow! Also, the employees were great! I will definitely have to work several monthly visits to DF into my 2018 budget!
We went there for the second time on New Year’s Eve. Last year was perfect prompting us to go back this year. The food was just we remembered. We had the artichoke beignets and a flatbread for starters. Two of us had New York Strip steaks one had brick chicken and one had ribs. All excellent. Unlike last year the service was atrocious. First the waiter asked for drinks. Two of us ordered drinks and then he walked away. When he returned the next person ordered their drink. Later he came back to take our order and had completely forgotten about the third drink, didn’t apologize and took the order as if she never ordered it before. That same person ordered her dinner with French fries instead of mashed potatoes. The dinner came with mashed potatoes and we told the person who brought it that it was supposed to come with French fries. They said they would go get them. A few minutes later our waiter came by and we relayed that we are missing the French fries. He also said he would go get them. It is now a day later and have seen our French fries because we haven’t. A bit later the waiter came back to see how things were and we reminded him about the fries. Still no fries. When he came to give us the bill, no apology, no nothing and especially still no fries. This could be this one waiter and this one anomaly but for a nice restaurant like this, this is unacceptable.
Food is good! Some things are fabulous, others good. Bring back the roasted artichoke!!!
Artichoke beignets are good, but the whole roasted artichoke is the best! Desserts are great! Salted caramel pudding is outstanding as is the lemon cake!
Service is always excellent there! Very personable staff!
Drinks are great & bartenders are terrific! We go often & introduce our friends to Del Frisco!
