Del Frisco's Grille - Chestnut Hill Ratings and Reviews
My first experience at DF will have me return, quite possibly for my birthday next month! My friend and I had a workout on MLK day at LifeTime Fitness, and decided to take full advantage of our day off with a lunch here. While we did not have a full experience in terms of time of day, the 2 sides I had were pretty exceptional for ordinary choices. Mashed potatoes and broccolini are not exciting, but at DF it was a gourmet meal, from the creamy potatoes to the zest of the lemon broccolini. And then as if Christmas/Hanukkah was extended, our desserts came. The Nutella bread pudding my friend ordered was delicious but my Coconut Cream pie can only be described as a cathartic moment in time. Again, we were the first guests there for lunch and it was about 20-30 minutes before people began arriving, so ambiance was difficult to assess, but it is a large lovely space without being pretentious. $30 for two sides and dessert /coffee may seem exorbitant, but the sides were worth it and the desserts FYI are of sharing size. I did not see a note about the portions on the menu, but after my friend & I had several bites, I still have enough for a serving tonight and a serving for tomorrow! Also, the employees were great! I will definitely have to work several monthly visits to DF into my 2018 budget!
We went there for the second time on New Year’s Eve. Last year was perfect prompting us to go back this year. The food was just we remembered. We had the artichoke beignets and a flatbread for starters. Two of us had New York Strip steaks one had brick chicken and one had ribs. All excellent. Unlike last year the service was atrocious. First the waiter asked for drinks. Two of us ordered drinks and then he walked away. When he returned the next person ordered their drink. Later he came back to take our order and had completely forgotten about the third drink, didn’t apologize and took the order as if she never ordered it before. That same person ordered her dinner with French fries instead of mashed potatoes. The dinner came with mashed potatoes and we told the person who brought it that it was supposed to come with French fries. They said they would go get them. A few minutes later our waiter came by and we relayed that we are missing the French fries. He also said he would go get them. It is now a day later and have seen our French fries because we haven’t. A bit later the waiter came back to see how things were and we reminded him about the fries. Still no fries. When he came to give us the bill, no apology, no nothing and especially still no fries. This could be this one waiter and this one anomaly but for a nice restaurant like this, this is unacceptable.
Food is good! Some things are fabulous, others good. Bring back the roasted artichoke!!!
Artichoke beignets are good, but the whole roasted artichoke is the best! Desserts are great! Salted caramel pudding is outstanding as is the lemon cake!
Service is always excellent there! Very personable staff!
Drinks are great & bartenders are terrific! We go often & introduce our friends to Del Frisco!
We’ve been to Del Frisco’s in Chestnut Hill quite a few times, and as with most of the other times, we overall had a positive experience. Most of the people in our party ordered burgers, and I ordered the Asian tuna salad, which had to be sent back to the kitchen due to a mistake in preparation to accommodate an allergy, but was quickly re-prepared once pointed out to the waitstaff. We love that the restaurant is very kid-friendly, and will go back.
Pleasant, middle of the road place, with nice servers, interesting wines by the glass. At an earlier stage the menu was more eclectic, so that, if one diner wanted meatloaf, one something more elaborate everyone could be happy. Fewer selections these days, pretty standard steakhouse choices.
Service was great, a bit slow but it was busy, and they honored request for booth. Unfortunately steaks not cooked correctly and were vastly different in size and quality, and fries were hard, mashed potato yummy but slightly cold.... by the time they redelivered one meal everyone else done eating. They comped one steak and one dessert which was appreciated but, our special night out was ruined.
We were seated right away (table for 4) table was not located in a good area, middle of the aisle with booths on either side, the table next to us had restaurant guests right on top of us we asked to be moved with reluctance the hostess put us at the table next to our original table where there was door open leading to another room, the restaurant team had to keep moving the door to get to the other room which made all of us uncomfortable and annoyed. We ordered appetizers, when we were through the dishes were not removed until the main meal came out, the food servers did not know which meal belonged to who once we worked that out we were asked to make sure our steaks were they way we liked it then the team realized we had no knives plus our other untensils were cleared with appetizer dishes and it took a few minutes before all the sides came out, we had to ask for them. I did not expect this kind of service at high end restaurant and it spoiled a birthday celebration. Although the food was excellent very well prepared it appears there were an inexperienced group of people outside the kitchen working at this restaurant.
Made reservations for family of four for Friday night. On arrival, we were sat quickly at a nice booth toward the back if the restaurant. Our waiter stopped by shortly to take drink orders - she was very nice, and gave us just the right amount of attention. During our email, a person I assumed to be a manager, stopped by to ask us how our meal was. This was a nice touch especially considering how busy the restaurant was. Our food came quickly: bone-in prime rib, ahi tuna salad, ribs and bacon burger. It was nice that they were able to do a half-rib plate for my daughter; it was the perfect amount for her. My prime rib was a lot bigger than I thought, and perfectly cooked. My son devoured his bacon burger, which was a good sign, and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her tuna, which was also cooked perfectly rare. Great restaurant in the neighborhood and will definitely be going back.
First visit and was very impressed. Great setting, food was outstanding, and our server was top shelf, always there when needed, but not overbearing. In addition pricing is very reasonable for quality and portions we received. Will be a definite repeat visit in the near future.
They had no lemonade or gluten free pizza dough. The pizza there is good and there are few places with gluten free pizza. Their choices for gluten free dishes was extremely limited. They changed the menu and omitted many items that were available before. The chicken which was one of the only GF options was undercooked and raw inside. This was a very disappointing visit. We went there for a birthday dinner. Not rushing back there anytime soon
