Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House - Houston Ratings and Reviews
Overall, the experience was acceptable. However, the service could be more polished for an exceptional dining experience. There was no one at the reception desk and we waited for several minutes. The receptionist was gracious but was much involved with paper work and jostling of menus. Our cocktail orders were very good all round. The bread seemed to lack a distinctive caliber of quality and was inconveniently presented as a whole loaf. The appetizers were beautifully prepared and delicious. At one point, we had to flag down the waiter from another table to request that ours please come to the table for a cocktail order. Fortunately, we had a leisurely linger over cocktails and appetizers without feeling rushed. The salads, particularly the lettuce wedges, were outstanding. The filets were good and one diner in particular found theirs to be quite good. The sides were generous but the portioning out by the waiters was a little awkward and one side was just left on the table. As to the service: it lacked snap, focus, and crispness. Though perhaps efficient, the sight of a waiter juggling three full salad plates and with the pepper mill under his arm pit doesn’t make for an appetizing optic. The waiter struggled a little inelegantly with the opening of the wine. Too, when a request for missing or additional flatware is made, personally I don’t like seeing it scavenged from an adjoining table. It’s a small matter but is reflective of perhaps a lack of attention to detail that can make for a notable dining experience and especially at a restaurant which overtly states its excellence and charges accordingly. Again, these are not major failings nor did they by any means ruin our evening but they do diminish one’s expectation for a memorable evening and dining experience.
Dined here to treat friends visiting from out of state. Upon check in, the host never looked up or provided a welcoming greeting. There were no other guest around so not sure what kept her attention. Did notice she had a select or frequent guests that got a smile or welcome. Restaurant mentions a dress code of business casual; however, there were diners in gym shorts and flip flops inside not at the bar perhaps because they were GUCCI brand flips allowed a pass.
Now on to seating, after sitting for 15-20minutes our server Ryan showed up for our drink orders, gave us what appeared like a 30minute overview of the menu. Took two separate requests for lemons and order of 2nd or 3rd cocktails. On one ocassion, another server asked if we needed refill or another cocktail. We all had steaks with pairings, the Akaushi was out of this world paired with king crab. We all purchased dessert to go. Our meal made up for the lacking customer service.
Our server was excellent (sorry forgot his name)!
My boyfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary and picking Del Frisco’s was the perfect choice!
We loved everything from the Charred Octupus, Steaks and Whiskey Sours!
Feel so bad that we left our Card that Del Frisco’s staff signed congratulating us for our anniversary!
By far, my favorite steak house in Houston. Its hard for me to get away from their tender filets, and thats what I got again! Cooked perfectly and simply well seasoned. And the best start is their signature VIP pineapple and mandarin martini. They tend to go down so smoothly, that I have to watch it!!
I expected the food to be delicious, and the appetizer, entree and side didn't disappoint. Unfortunately, the creme brulee was over-caramelized, leaving us with a burnt taste in our mouths. Our waitress did comp them, which I appreciated. Service was a bit lacking, though. Every course took too long to receive, with long gaps between staff visiting the table. Waited at least 15 minutes to place our dessert order and another 15 for the check. They were crowded because of the holiday, but when the tab is pushing $200, I would hope to get top-notch service, regardless.
We had lunch on Thanksgiving day and everything was perfect. The waiters were very attentive and made sure that the water was refilled on a consistent basis. The food was hot when served and it was arranged on the plate artistically. The waiter was able to provide guidance through the extensive 1300 wine choice list. We will return.
I was at lunch with 3 other family members for a celebration at the one in Houston. Everyone had steak and we ordered a few side orders. They were very happy with the quality of their food. Unfortunately, my steak (Strip) was just full of gristle. Almost uneatable. I ate what I could and left the rest. It was a nice celebration we were having and I didn't want to ruin any part of it by complaining. I covered their asking about it by saying I was stuffed. I was embarrassed for the place. I could have gotten a better steak than that at Chili's for 1/3 the price. Chili's doesn't specialize in Steaks!
