Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
I’ve been to Del Frisco twice now, and the food is exceptional. The Shanghai Calamari is not to be missed! The service was great the first time but everyone was exceptionally attentive on our second visit. It’s a bit on the pricey side but overall worth what you spend. We will definitely be back!
Our sever was very attentive. He noticed that I was not drinking my drink so he took it back to the bartender and had him add a little more pear puree and it was perfect! He recommended items on the menu like the bone in steak that looked like something out of Bedrock and my husband enjoyed every bit. My husband and I were gifted with a certificate from our daughter to enjoy and we were happy with her selection!
I moved away from my favorite place in the country. DF CHICAGO. I.eat in great places. I can afford to eat in the best places on earth but time and time again I keep telling people about del frisco in Chicago. They opened when I moved there and since then the staff and management has treated me like gold.
Shout outs to the best crew in the business. Charley Ryan is an asset to the company. I’ve been requesting him as my server the last 5-6 times I’ve been here. Great sever. Very astute. Please request him.
Nicholas Phelps introduced himself as the manager. Very pleasant guy. Very knowledge about food and wine. Great small talk. Great overall guy. Makes things better.
Special shout to Amy and Mandy. Both super outgoing and knowledgeable about wine. Have met them both several times and they definitely offer up the best suggestions.
I would give this 10 stars of I could! Amazing, top shelf service from the time we entered until the time we left, from the hostess, bartender, server, Sommelier, manager and assistant manager. Food, drinks and dessert were awesome, the Carpacio was mouth watering. It was expensive but well worth it!
Have been waiting to use a gift certificate for this restaurant and we were so excited to finally do it. Unfortunately Del Frisco’s was a disappointment. Upon ordering our appetizer, we were told that all of their entrees took about 35 min to prepare, so we needed to know what we were going to order. We were then asked again after ordering our salads. We finally decided after the third request, but then 3 dishes that we ordered out of 5 came to the table barely warm, And the flavors were unimpressive for the hefty price tag. We had expected to be wowed and were not at all. Just glad it wasn’t our money we spent, but sad to have wanted our gift certificate here. Will not return.
This was a fantastic experience. Taylor was phenomenal and made this special occasion an absolute treat! We loved every minute of it. We don’t live far from this spot and will return again soon. Probably a top 5 dining experience for us. Thanks for making this a “Dream” Taylor!
My family and I live in Del Frisco’s neighborhood and we have been dining there for years. We were incredibly disappointed this past saturday at our dinner. We waited almost an hour and a half for our entrees. The server totally forgot the 8 ounce lobster tail so my sister is ended up with a wedge salad as her entire dinner. My Dad and I ordered fish which arrived cold. It was really disappointing. The manager came over to apologize for forgetting the lobster tail but clearly did not have any idea we had been waiting as long as we did. The price of dinner certainly does not reflect the service or food we received.
I had been wanting to get back to DF’s since I first tried it in 2013...I was impressed with the service on my 1st visit, the waiter asked about any dietary restrictions and even asked if there were any time constraints they needed to be aware of...which was nice becz we did have plans for the theater after dinner. However this time service was less impressive. First, we arrived about 30 mins ahead of our reservation and asked if we might be able to be seated earlier since it was not at all full in the dining room. The hostess said it wouldn’t be possible and asked that we have a seat at the bar. We then were seated at the time of our reservation and the 1st waiter was cool but our main waiter was just ok. He didn’t ask about any dietary restrictions nor time constraints. The music was loud and boisterous, very annoying and not what I remembered about dining there last. And although I was dressed in jeans too, other diners came very dressed down as well (T-shirt’s, shorts). It seems it’s become a pretty casual dining restaurant vs fine dining as I’d felt it was on my first visit. There were people there who were dressed up but looks like it’s definitely “come as you are”. The food was good..the tuna tartare was tasty but the tortilla chips were fried so hard and the oil in the chips was so saturated, it left a oily film feeling in my mouth, so gross! Our entrees were good too but I don’t think I’ll be back very soon, or ever.
We booked a milestone anniversary dinner here and said so on our reservation. When we arrived, the host wished us a happy anniversary, which was very nice; but then she took us to a terrible table in center of the room near a path to the kitchen. The restaurant was nowhere near full (a red flag for a Friday night), so I asked if we could have one of the nicer booths by the window. But I would expect to be offered it without having to ask when celebrating a special occasion.
Our server was very friendly, so that was a plus.
But our steaks were just not very good. They really pushed extras when we ordered, so my husband ordered truffle butter for his and I ordered peppercorn sauce for mine. He couldn't taste the truffle butter, just overwhelming saltiness (and both of us like aggressively seasoned steak). Luckily my sauce came on the side because it was gross. It was congealed and sweet and didn't add anything positive so I didn't even put it on my steak after tasting it. The steaks themselves didn't seem like the same quality we've had at other steakhouses in the city, and were more expensive than many we've had before.
The sides we ordered were meh, at best. Not terrible but not worth the price.
We didn't order dessert, but they didn't even bring out a little something for our anniversary. The meal just ended as if we'd just stopped in on a random weeknight. Overall, a giant bust for almost $300.
Favorite restaurant in the city. Great ambiance for sure. Food is outstanding, highly recommend seafood tower and Tomahawk steak. Charlie our waiter was awesome, very knowledgable about the menu and so much fun. It was our second time dining here and definitely will return.
With so many steakhouses to choose from in downtown Chicago I always thought Mastros was my favorite. That all changed on Saturday when we came to eat at Del Frisco’s. We have been to the Del Frisco’s NYC location, but this experience was different. The service was top notch (Nathan was our server) and the food was unbelievable. The general manager (Don) was going around to tables making sure everyone was having a great experience. The VIP is the best drink around, and when you pair that with amazing food there isn’t much more you could ask for. I would highly suggest this as the #1 steakhouse in Chicago.
Ordered the shellfish plateau for table. Crab claws were actually rancid. They were brown in color instead of the usual reddish and the smell was beyond belief. How it made it to the table is beyond shocking. Upon my complaint, received an apology and they deducted half the cost of the plateau. Really? I prayed all night that no one from my party would get sick. Not a good experience and handled poorly by the restaurant. This is usually a good place but not this week.
My wife and I were in Chicago for the Chicago Marathon and we went to Del Frisco's for our post-race dinner. When they found out that I had completed the marathon earlier that day, they made a big fuss over me, congratulating me. The general manager even came to our table to congratulate me on my achievement. They also gave us free dessert. The service was outstanding and the food was just as good. Well done, Del Frisco's, we will be back the next time we are in Chicago!
My wife and I celebrated our Anniversary with a couple of very good friends (the husband's bday as well!). We had great service from Lilly, she was an outstanding server. Very attentive and made outstanding recommendations regarding food and drinks.
The highlight of our evening was the experience with our sommelier; Mandy, who was not only knowledgeable about wines, but also so friendly and nice. She took the time to honor our celebration by taking us on a tour of the wine cellar/tower! Probably spent more time with us than she needed to, but we appreciated every minute of it!
Thank you Del Frisco's!
