Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House - Boston Ratings and Reviews
We had been to Del Frisco's in Texas and expected the same, high end food and service. Not so.
It's trendy, it's busy, it's expensive food and service are ok. View of Boston Harbor is excellent. Go if you want to impress someone or if someone else is paying.
This has become our go-to steakhouse. Have dined at all the major steakhouses in boston, but this is our favorite and supplanted Smith & Wollensky where we sufered from poor service. The food and service is outstanding. Specialty cocktails - great variety. Appetizers - all great, but try the cheesesteak egg rolls. We have had steak, lobster, lobster tail, and duck entrees and all have been wonderful. Try the au gratin potatos and brussel sprouts. Wait staff consistently excellent - go out of their way to make the dining experience pleasant. Only issue is with the noise level-would recommend one of the booths as this seems to help. Great ambience with views of the harbor. Not cheap, but well worth the price - we have never been disappointed.
Went to Boston with my wife for our 5 year anniversary. Made reservation on line, which was very easy. Arrived on time and little wait for table. Great, attentive server. Food was delicious. Only drawback was it took well over 1 hr to get food, but it was worth the wait. My wife and I enjoyed our experience and would come back again.
Went to Del Frisco's for my 30th wedding anniversary on a Tuesday evening. When I arrived, the noise level from the bar and the dining room was so incredibly loud that I could hardly hear what the hostess was saying. The bar is immediately behind the hostess, but the dining area was equally as loud. Fortunately, we were seated outside on the patio overlooking the harbor with the airport in the distance. It was a gorgeous evening and it was calm and relatively quiet outside on the patio. The hostess did mention that they were having an "event," but if I go back, I'll be sure to sit on the patio where I can carry on a conversation. Food was done perfectly. Lemon cake was yummy! Wait staff excellent.
Business visitor asked to meet for dinner to discuss critical financial opportunity. Made reservation on Open Table. Was provided a 4 person table (no problem) in the bar area (problem). Do you need to request dining room for dinner? Nice view but the bar area was loud with patrons and especially with rediculously loud music. At times bar patrons were leaning on a chair at my table. Table was wedged near the servers' station which was a continuous distraction. Ordered steak trio special medium. No pink at all, it was overcooked. Why so much salt/seasoning on steak? Chugged water to recover. Visitor didn't like his meal either. Visitor also picked up the overpriced bill and asked if we could walk and talk outside instead.
Del Frisco's went above and beyond for the special day. Celebrating a graduation was made so special by the staff. Amazing table with water views, staff were so attentive and informative, food sensational and cocktails/wines were paired perfectly. Look forward to returning again!
This was our family's first time at this highly rated restaurant. Our $17 crab cake (yes, that is singular) was not nearly as good as the waiter said it was. It was nothing special. The steaks were good but the side dishes were flavorless and the lobster mac and cheese and crab gnocchi had very little fish in them and plenty of shell fragments. I also didn't care for the desserts. So, in a nutshell, next time i'm looking for a great steak in Boston, i'll stick to Grill 23.
I sugest when you order your steak to order a little less cooked than usual. We all cut our steaks in the center when they arrived and they looked great, but within minutes the pink was gone. They may have kept cooking on the extremly hot plate they where served on. Everything else was AWESOME !!!
Beautiful dining room, fantastic service, and great, well prepared food. Priciing a bit higher than advertised, much closer to Morton's in pricing that I thought. Overall, excellent dinner, waitstaff, view and atmosphere. Highly recommend, just plan to spend.
The food is simple--but exceptionally well-prepared, especially the crab cakes and of course, the steaks. Salads are awesome--try the avocado dressing for something completety different. The service is always friendly--never fussy or ostentatious, and the staff seems devoted to making sure you enjoy your dining experience. The view is among the best in Boston and it's a great place to celebrate a special occasion--or just a romantic tete a tete. It's a bit pricey--but well worth it. If you like the Capital Grille or Morton's, DelFrisco's is, in my opinion, a major cut above both of them.
Wow! Del Frisco's does it right. An expensive night out for sure, but for that amazing night out this certainly does the trick. We were quickly seated for our 8pm reservation. We were seated facing the floor to ceiling windows on the harbor, looking right at the airport, a great view only improved by the lightning show going on. Our server, Jason has friendly and helpful with his suggestions. The crab cake app was outstanding. Our steaks were, of course, unbelievable. Porterhouse for me, ribeye for her. fork tender and seasoned beautifully. The most pleasant surprise was the amazing dessert. The hand-whipped cheesecake was perfectly light and sweet. Her chocolate mousse was also amazing. Couldn't have been happier!
The steaks are not on par with other prime steakhouses. My steak was tough and very fatty. The sides were just okay. The deserts seemed frozen and then thawed out. Nothing seemed like it was made in house, it seemed like a " heat n eat" restaurant. There's so many other better options for this type of restaurant, don't waste your money here. The service was great and the view was great! There you go, I said something positive.
My husband and I had an outstanding experience at our recent visit to Del Frisco's. Our server, David, was perfect! We were celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary so it was important to us that we have a perfect dinner! Everything was perfect! We loved the food, the water view, and the excellent service we received! We will be back for the next big occasion!!
Same great food at lunch as in the evening. Smaller portions, actually suit me better. We were there on Memorial Day, so hard to determine what the normal lunch crowd is like. Too cold to sit outside, but still had nice window table with view. Had great waiter Derrik.
I had a wonderful birthday lunch yesterday - the service was spectacular the food was great. The location of the table was perfect.
I had a perfect birthday lunch with my family!
Our waiter was great in taking care of all our needs and the manager was great about ensuring the steaks were perfect for my guests .I really enjoyed my day and the Del Frisco's staff's great service was a big part of it
The food and service at the table (I believe her name was Sara, a definite asset to your business) was great. We were disappointed with the hostess staff though as I had requested a window table the week before and we showed up early prior to our reservation again requesting a table by the window which was available but another party showed up and because they were considered "VIP" the window table was given to them. I honestly don't feel this was fair or acceptable. Although I understand requests for window tables aren't guaranteed, the table was avaialble for us to seat at and we were pushed aside for another party.
First time at Del Frisco's. Food was excellent. My husband and I both had steak. It was cooked to perfection. The side dishes were delicious. I don't usually like the the sautéed spinach side dish but Del Frisco has a spinach supreme that was very tasty. They have bacon in their spinach. Also had the king crab gnocchi side, very delicious. We sat at a table on the bar side. It was a window seat but the hustle of the bar and the sports on the tv's took away from the feeling of a romantic dinner. The food was worth it. Next time I make a reservation I'll ask for seats in dining area.
When in Boston I usually go to Abe and Louie's or the Capital Grill. An acquaintance recommend Del FrIsco's. My recent visit was perhaps the best dining experience I've had in Boston. The food and service were second to none. I'm looking forward to a return visit. Michael
The whole experience was great. The only one negative would be that the waiter recommended a lobster tail special without ever mentioning the hefty price tag. Being out with good friends that we hadn't seen in over a year we didn't even bother to ask. So maybe we should be partly responsible. Otherwise we had a great time with great food.
I took my gentleman friend to Del Frisco's for his birthday on Saturday. Our reservation was for 6PM. The waitstaff was attentive to the point that I felt a little bit rushed. Saturday is a busy night, however, given the prices that they charge, I would have liked to savor the experience a little bit longer. We were home by 7:30!!!! That should give you an idea of how fast we were rushed out of there. The food was good. The waiter suggested that we put all of our order in at once, appetizers and main course, and explained that if we ordered steak it needed to "sit" for awhile after it was cooked, and we would have to wait 45minutes to eat if we didn't. This is definitely for a special occaision, but try to go a little later than 6PM!
As a regular here, this experience was disappointing. I like to bring out of towners here for business and pleasure. I had requested a round table for 6 near the windows. When I arrived, we were put in a booth and told there were no tables in the restaurant for six closer to the windows (not true). We were rushed for service while being "pushed" with constant upsells (no means no, people). Also, while enjoying 2 very nice bottles of wine, the waiters consistently kept pouring in the glasses of those who kept telling them they were not drinking wine.
Felt much more like a commodity - wait staff pushy and not adding value or ambiance. Disappointing and will re-think coming here for a place with more genuine interaction with their customers.
I was part of a group of five for dinner. We met a few minutes early for a drink at the bar. It was a great after work scene. Lots of professionals but still easy to order a drink. The host staff was a lovely. We were suspect of the booth seating for our group. However, in the end we loved the intimate booth seating. The entire table was able to engage in the conversation. The service was spectacular. Our server was well educated on both food & drinks. She gave wonderful recommendations and had a great eye for detail. Del Frisco's is one of the top on the list for future for group dining experiences!
