We booked a table on Open Table and drove to the restaurant only to be told they were closed for a private function. They blamed Open Table.
How hard would it have been for them to double check that the ability to book a table for that night was disabled?
I had no expectations going in to Deer and Duck as my friend had surprised me with a dinner there. I was, however, completely in love with the night there, and have already begun setting expectations for my friends. The food itself was great, with a great deal of care placed into each dish. The service was perfect too, with friendly, knowledgeable staff members always there to tend to your experience.
If you have thought of taking on a degustation experience, rather than your average ala carte menu grab then this is for you. It's a perfect date: it's fun, dimly lit, not too loud, and the wine list is great too.
The service was below the standard you expected after entering the restaurant.
They did not know where to locate my reservation, after 5 minutes of looking another waiter pointed out that it had already been crossed off by another.
The wine I ordered never made it to my table and we were charged for an extra bottle of water which we never had.
This may have been because we were served by three different staff members.
They were polite and carried themselves well, but most patrons would like casual staff with great service.
We had a lovely evening at Deer Duck and all 4 of us enjoyed ourselves very much.
Our waiter was really helpful and attentive and the ambience was wonderful, cosy and quiet with a luxury old world feel
We had the 7 course tasting degustation and loved all the flavours and the sauces were amazing.
All 4 of us thought the portion sizes could have been double the size in most cases, or else alternate larger and smaller sizing. The dishes were so wonderful that we needed more to enjoy!!
The wine selection was great, we enjoyed a lovely wine from Orange and we also had a wonderful French champagne!
Food was amazing, wine was amazing and the service was amazing.. We will definitely be back. We had the 7 Course Chefs Menu and definitely recommend paying extra for the matching wines, it really added to the whole amazing experience!
Great food and great service which you would only expect from a city restaurant. Very unique decor. Perfect portion sizes.
Beautiful setting, great food and fantastic service. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Perfect for a special occasion.

We had the 7 course degustation. The dishes were interesting, with some more tasty than others. The chicken dish, the beef and the desert were our favourites. I had the matching wines, which I enjoyed thoroughly. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but is lovely and cosy inside. The wait staff was very attentive. All in all I enjoyed the experience very much.
The degustation menu was amazing. I took my boyfriend here to celebrate his 30th Birthday. We felt very well looked after by the charming waitress who explained every course in detail. The food was exquisite and the cosy atmosphere was a delight. Definitely coming back!
It was nice atmosphere and service. The food was pretty good but they have changed a few of their dishes and I think the previous dishes were better (on their 7 course degustation).
The ambience, food experience, service and charm of Deer Duck Bistro was exceptional.
We had the 7 course chefs degustation and it did not disappoint. Its byo so you can elect to bring your wine or choose matching wines for each course. The food was fabulous, service was attentive and the restaurant had a beautiful serene feeling about it. Will be going back again soon! Thank you Deer Duck Bistro for a great birthday dinner!
