Declaration – Nats Park
caramelized onions, lemon rosemary
thinly sliced prime rib, cheese fondue, sweet onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo
strawberries, honey vinaigrette, black pepper ricotta, almond praline
Moses our server was very attentive and enjoyable without being over bearing. Alan provided great support as well. They appreciated our patronage but also seem to enjoy serving the public. Food was good but you can get good food in lots of places. More difficult for good food AND pleasant service
Food quality has gone down hill since the last time I had been. Basically it sucked. And the menu selection wasn’t as good as before. Seems they have cut back
Food was not hot.
Our evening started out without a reservation despite the Open Table confirmation; the waiter forgot to give us the hors dourves we had ordered; we got half our entries 25 minutes after the first entries. Food was okay, but you’d expect better given the DC prices. And whatever you do DO NOT get a GF pizza; it was disgusting and had no toppings. This will definitely be a one and done restaurant.
We all agreed food was mediocre. Nothing special. Waitress never brought napkins. I ordered a shrimp pea risotto that had no peas. When I asked about it, waitress said she would ask chef, but never reported back. All in all, nothing special, just ho hum food. Won’t be going back.
Overall good however services was fair. Person seemed overwhelmed by her tables.
Waited 3 minutes for the host to see me to seat me.
Waited 7 minutes for a waiter to bring water.
Three different waiters were taking orders.
Being there for 90min, and beside the 3 waiters, we were not checked on again...not how is the food, not to refill water, no to refill soda. We had to run them down as they walked by, not making eye contact.
The place was 1/3 full on a Wednesday night.
Very quick to run my card for the bill.
The restaurant was severely understaffed for a busy evening (pre-holidays/Enchant at Nats Park). There was no designated host and no one busing tables. When we arrived with a reservation, we had to wait 15 minutes with other reserved groups to even be sat. They were out of many of the menu items. Our server was misinformed about what drinks she could offer and told us that tea and juice were not available. I went to the bar and talked to the bartender and there were multiple choices for both tea and juices. I also brought back my party's full order of drinks as the wait was very long. Food was pretty good in the end but the entire experience was not pleasant. For the price ($19 for individual pizzas), the service should have been MUCH better.
They seemed very overwhelmed. To the point of chaos. Service was extremely slow.
Restaurant seemed to be short staffed. Took about 35 - 40 minutes for our food and drinks to arrive and the pizza was cold and bland.
Sat at the bar and shared in the Christmas spirit. The food was great, conversation was lively and the libations were flowing. Service is fun and we had a great time.
The restaurant was cute, and the location was central to the nationals stadium which was great. However we had to wait about half an hour for a table even though we had a reservation. Our server was not the best, several times we made requests, such as for water refills, which were never fulfilled. The restaurant was pretty crowded, but it seems they may need more staff to adequately allow all the table to be seated and served on a Saturday night. I had the brussels sprouts and I thought they were okay, not quite sweet or flavorful enough in my opinion. The drinks we ordered were good, and the half caesar salad was good, although there was an unidentified brown substance in the bottom of the bowl which did not appear to belong with the salad, and thus about a quarter of the salad couldn't be eaten.
First time visit recommended by a friend. The restaurant was understaffed. Once seated for our dinner reservation waited 15 mins before any staff visited our table. I went back to the bar to get drinks for our table. After we ordered when our food arrived two of our entrees had not been prepared and two of us had to wait for our order to be prepared while the other two finished their dinner. We ordered dessert and when it came out we did not get forks until we requested them. But the food and drinks were good and vale was good.
Horrible service and food was overpriced.
Great food! Excellent waitress! Would definitely go back!
This review is mostly of the GLUTEN FREE PIZZA.
I love that they have gluten free pizza, but the gluten free pizza itself wasn't great. I think it was homemade (not frozen), which was a plus, but it was unevenly rolled out, so that some parts of the crust were really thick and gummy, while others were hard and cracker-like. And the toppings that sounded so good on the menu were disappointingly bland. Overall I felt like I overpaid for a pizza that wasn't better than a frozen gf pizza.
We also got the Brussels spouts, which were good, but cut a bit big, so they weren't as crispy as they could've been. The service was great and the atmosphere was nice but noisy.
This was the absolute worst pizza I’ve had in DC and I’ve been here ten years. The dough was completely bland, the meat had no flavor and the cheese was nothing to write home about. I will give them credit as the fried mozzarella was good and the Caesar salad was adequate. It was during the Nats playoff game, so maybe try it at your peril. Oh, and I’m usually very forgiving and I’ll typically eat whatever but for 120 dollars this was absolutely not worth it! I’d rather have had Pizza Hut and beers at home. We won’t be back.
We had a reservation for Game 3 of the World Series. The place was packed. The hostess was slammed, with both walk ins and reservations. She got us a table about 30 minutes late. Most people were camped on their tables, not much she could do. The food was just okay, the staff tried really hard, not sure this is a go to spot when I come down for events. I understand, I took care of the staff... but 3 stars is the beat I can do
Showed up one minute after reservation (5:46) and they were giving the table away. Got seated and waited 25 minutes to get water - just water. Ordered and the food came out one thing at a time as it was ready - table wasn’t served together. Wanted to order a second round of drinks, but nobody ever came back to the table except the bus boy who kept interrupting the meal to remove plates that weren’t even finished. I will never go back and I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I know it’s the World Series, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t strive to deliver even passable service.
Service at the bar and when we sat down to eat was very slow. Wasn’t even crowded at the time. Pizza was great. Should offer more sauce choices for wings
We were so disappointed. We have been to declaration a few times for their gluten free pizza and loved it. We went for an early dinner for my daughter's birthday and the gluten free pizza (gluten allergy). The waitress was great, but informed us that the chef just told her they were out of the gluten free crust. We explained we only came because of that crust for my daughter's birthday. She left and came back, saying the chef will make some gluten free crust but it would take an extra 15 minutes. We told her that was completely fine and happy to wait for the crust. Unfortunately, one we got the pizza the crust wasn't cooked inside. It made it very chewy and not tasty at all. We were tired of messing with the issue and it was getting late for the toddler so we ate a little bit of it. The restaurant was not busy at all either.
Declaration is a great place to stop in before a Nats game or anytime! The mixed drinks were devine. We had the Dev Eggs (a little bland) Chicken wings were just right for horderves. For the main course we had the Thomas Heyward pizza; excellent. The Philly Cheesesteak is made with cheese wiz! and the Risotto just like you expect amazing.
What made the evening the most special was our waiter Kis. He was amazing. Kis offered ideas for drinks and food which were right on target. He also was very attentive to our needs. Kis was also quite chatty and engaging. He also was very attentive to our needs. We got to the 2nd game of the World Series (watch party) with plenty of time.
Really bad. They gave my reservation to someone else and made me wait 45 mins for another table. Service was very slow. No compensation for any of this.
This was our first visit and we will definitely be back!!! Great food and people
Bar Staff were overwhelmed by the large Nats crowd. Kitchen did a great job keeping up.
It was very warm in the restaurant and very busy after the game. Its an easy and good place to stop before or after a game or for a neighborhood bite.
We ate here before a Nationals game. It’s so convenient to the stadium. We enjoyed a pizza and the gemelli pasta with pomodoro sauce and meatballs. Food was excellent. They had run out of a few of the beers on the menu but we were still able to find one we liked. Service was very good but could have been a little faster but it was crowded before a baseball game so that’s probably why it was slower.
Warm beer. Half assed service. Completely different than an experimence I had there last year. Need some new management.
Had to wait 2 mins in a deserted restaurant for someone to notice we had walked in for our reservation. The pizza we ordered was supposed to have meatballs on it. It had one meatball chopped up and dispersed sparsely on the pizza. The waiter never refilled our water. There are always flies everywhere. They increased their prices too. I’ve been here a couple times and never had a good experience. Won’t be back.
Good place. We pre-gamed here before a DC united match and would do so again. The food was fine - nothing spectacular but perfectly fine. Wait staff was friendly and prompt. No complaints at all. And as I said, I would not heistate to go back again.
Highly recommend for casual dining experience! Food and drinks were very good with service to match! This was my first time dining at Declaration-NATs Park, and noise level was high. I imagine this was due to large party in reserved room, and Nationals and DC United game on the same day and time.
For being known as a pizza place their pizza was mediocre at best. Service was good and server was attentive. But everything else was lacking.
Service was spotty. Need more waiters. Food tasted good; menu (brunch) did not described dishes accurately.
Pizza was delicious with original toppings. I ordered the American mule as well and I would say that was the best mule ever. Really refreshing for a hot day! Also, we had great service. I would definitely come back. :)
The food was okay. I got a chopped salad and could barely taste the dressing. It was all very bland. We got the Brooklyn pizza which was just a cheese pizza. The crust was undercooked and there was too much cheese. Service was okay as well. I’m not picky and don’t normally comment but I felt that it was too expensive and not worth the money so I had to comment.
Visiting from out of town. This restaurant was next to my hotel. Walked in and got a table. Wait staff was attentive, food was homemade and delicious!
Pre-Nats game. Food was good, service was okay. We were there early pre-Nats game on Memorial Day Monday so they seemed a bit surprised by us. :-). Overall a decent menu and decent good but nothing was superior.
