Great service, food was very good. Very convenient location in a fun area.
It was right before the Home Run Derby held at Nationals Park and the place was absolutely packed. Sat in bar area but still had some trouble getting consistent service. Prices were great and food was amazing. Even other people’s plates looked great.
I understand the extra noise and excitement was due to the Home Run Derby crowd, but our service was poor from the beginning of the meal to the end. The food was mediocre at best, to include barely being warm by the time it reached our table. I might tell a friend to try Declaration but I wouldn't recommend it as a regular stop. It left me disappointed and hungry for something more.
Went with a group of 6. Server was not attentive. Entres came out at all different times. Also my fiancé’s salad had missing ingredients and the chicken was not cooked fully.
Food was awesome. Our food came out about 35 minutes after the order and the server gave us a free pizza because the wait was long :)
Typical food close to the ballpark. Unfortunately, fries over cooked and cold, calamari had enough oil on the plate to fry a whole chicken. Disgusting!!! Service was fine!!
Dinner before Nats game.
Really fun and great food. Went for lunch before the Nats game. Perfect spot.
I think they salted the calamari after it was fried, I put one in my mouth and almost gagged from salt. Pizza is good, but not the best you’ve ever had. Service is relaxed and on point. It’s a good spot for a get together with friends, nothing serious.
This place is near a ballpark and should know how to manage patrons on time to get to game. We booked for 5:45, and told them we had the game at 7 when we arrived. the had us wait for 15 minutes for a table, though there were several open. The table service was just as unhelpful. We wanted to order drinks and food together, but no luck. The food (pasta and salad) was quite fine, but that doesn’t mean we wanted to linger. At 6:45 I had to get up to ask for check, and before bringing ours, she brought 2 other tables their checks. We got out of there at 7:05, missed first inning. This restaurant was hardly worth that.
The food was delicious and the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.
Yesterday's National baseball game (May 23rd) was at 4:00 pm so a friend and I opted to try a new area restaurant. Checking for reservations at a late date left few neighborhood choices. Declaration only two blocks from the stadium was available and I made a 2:45 reservation.
Upon being seated the waiter greeted us by saying the kitchen was closing in a few minutes. I suggested he better put our order in right away. The feeling I got was that lunch was over for him and he wanted to go home.
The restaurant only had a few customers. Most tables we vacant. That should have been a clue in the vicinity where most places were booked solid.
My friend and I ordered a pizza and as an appetizer, Arancini (a deep fried Italian treat). The pizza came first, a 14” $20.00 one followed a few minutes afterwards by the Arancini. It was easy to tell the kitchen began with good ingredients. It was a shame they spoiled them. The pizza crust was burned on the bottom. The Arancini were as hard as golf balls having been left in the deep fryer for too long.
Declaration is an attractive restaurant in a great and growing area with literally dozens of new restaurants to choose from. Next time I will choose one of those and make my reservation early.
Grace was the most attentive and sweet server I've had in some time! She let us take our time, kept the alcohol coming, and was cheerful throughout. The pizza, pasta, and bruschetta were amazing. The Fries were soggy, underfried, and came in a bag that seemed to exacerbate the problem - simple enough fix though. Fantastic and welcome addition to Navy Yard
Located a block from Nats Park one can eat an hour ahead of a game. Pizza was unremarkable. Appatizers looked better than the pizzas. Friendly service and moderate noise level. Modest prices.
Service was really slow, inattentive, and borderline rude. It took about 20 minutes to even get our check processed. When my father finally just walked over to the bar to try to pay, the server was extraordinarily unapologetic. It wasn't just the check, but the whole meal and the server made it very clear we weren't a priority.
Adam did a wonderful job of welcoming us, explaining the menu and serving both beverage and food. Glad to see this addition to the area. My only constructive comment is that I do not use salt, and I found the chicken in the Cobb salad very salty. Next time I request no salt.
Declaration was excellent for a first time experience. The service, ambiance and food were excellent. The pizzas are a good size - if a couple and not that hungry, one pizza will be more than enough to share.
I brought my family here for Mother's Day and the brunch food was so unbearably salty we couldn't eat the bacon nor potatoes.
Lovely brunch on Mother’s Day. Look forward to making this part of our regular dining rotation!
Food was fine but service was terrible. It took 40 minutes to receive our drinks. Waitress claimed the delay was caused by dishwasher taking too long on glasses....but burger, cheese steak, and appetizers were great. Pizza was okay.
Pizza was very good, but the crust was very soggy in the middle. Had to eat with a knife and fork. Not a real
Had a last minute brunch here before a Nats game. Convenient; plenty of space; great service and solid portions and food. Would definitely go back.
The food is great. Service is horrible if they are packed. Most service anywhere is degraded if the restaurant is packed but service was absolutely non-existent the day we went. We tried to get service at the bar and in the main dining room. At the bar, the bartender focused solely on people who sat at the bar and not the high tops. In the dining room, waiters and waitresses buzzed around us but no one took our order. Recommend staying away from this place if they are packed or allow for extra time to get food/customer service.
This place was a hidden gem. Surprisingly roomy on the inside with plenty of tables and some bar seating available. Food was delicious! Love that it was withing walking distance from several hotels, Nats baseball park, the Yard, and the RiverFront!
Fit the bill, food was great, service was great, close to my hotel, just a bit noisy. That seems to be more the norm these days. Menu item that might go overlooked most times was the fried mozzarella, this one will knock your socks off. I will be back to dive into the rest of the menu.
Took way too long to be seated in a mostly empty dining area with a reservation. No place for jackets or umbrellas. Server was menu knowledgeable but not efficient. We sat unattended to for a long time between appetizer, main entrée, dessert and bill pay. Calamari was overly deep fried - was like eating sticks without flavor. Fried mozzarella was also overly deep fried with the cheese barely melted inside - twice! Pizza was bland. The ambiance was okay. Bar was very loud and made for difficult dining table conversation. The bathroom needed attention. Manager comped appetizers.
Brunch was unvelievable...from the presentation to the mix of flavors to the service!!! We will definitely be back!!!!
Pizzas seemed thrown together and not very well done for a place that specializes in pizza
For a pizza place, it sure does have terrible pizza ... Atmosphere is very cool and the drinks & apps were OK but would never recommend for actual pizza. Many better options (even within walking distance!)
Excellent food (even for picky eaters) and great cocktails! Also convenient location near the Metro and baseball field.
service and food were subpar, I will not be returning.
Nice spot. Went with my wife for lunch and we both had a good time. Shared the beef carpaccio up front, which was really nice and fresh. I ordered the Hopkinson pizza and it was AWESOME. Wife ordered the entree burrata salad, and while I was annoyed that she ordered a salad at a pizza place and we ended up going half-and-half, the salad was actually really good. The things you do for love... Anyway, good food; good, casual ambiance; good value; friendly staff - checks all my boxes and would definitely recommend to a friend (even the ones that order entree salads at a pizza place).
Terrible pizza, good service, cool ambiance
