Food was okay.
Service was bad. Food was quite average for the price .
Open table reservation was missing from their systems even though we were on time. Please check your integrations with their systems.
But they still tried their best to match the timing.
We are a party of 2 for casual business lunch and everything was fantastic. Right from service to food to decor.
It was girls night out. We enjoyed the ambience and the food was delicious!!
Poorly managed and bad service. The food is good but a very inefficiently run place which spoils the dinning experience. Not worth the money
Horrible food, even worse service. Please don’t waste your $$$ here. Cold food with zero quality. At this price point it’s completely unacceptable. When you bring it to their attention, staff does not seem to be trained enough to address those issues.
Hi all, I am not the one who usually will write a review unless my experience was truly horrible or truly amazing. I went to Deccan spice to celebrate my fathers and brothers birthday on a Saturday evening. I was extremely disappointed with the service. We were seated for almost 15 min and no server came to ask us for water or drink or anything. After that long wait we were finally able to get attention from one of the server. Going to a restaurant where I am going to spend $$$ the least I can expect is a greet hi how are you, a small intro like any other upscale restaurant. Disregarding this we ordered drinks and food. Our appetizers came out before our drinks!!! They charged us $8 per bottle of water. I have never been to a restaurant that charges for water not even Michelin star restaurants, and I have been to many even out of country. We started off with soup which was runny like water and had no flavor. Next Our appetizers were not fresh the paneer was very hard like any store bought paneer and the kebabs like any other restaurant. We then ordered our main course which was not extravagant, simple food that you can expect at any other Indian restaurant if not even better at other places. With all the food we ordered our check was almost close to $400 including service charge. I honestly feel it was a rip off since the experience and food was both very disappointing. For a place that will charge me a decent price for an entree I expect something more in flavor, presentation and service. Overall it was a horrible dinner and wasted money. I will definitely not be going back and would advice you all to not go either.
Service was slow. Drinks were not good. Chicken lollipop and somosas were oily. Lamb chops were ok. Butter chicken was good. Biryani was not that great. Not worth the price. Nothing special.
The restaurant and the ambiance are really nice. The services is however lacking and very slow. Food was okay not worth the price.
One of the worst experiences.
Worst service and management from hosts Rashmi Patel & Govardhan. They brought the food 1hr30 min after the order was given, they don’t even apologize when we reminded twice, instead they disrespect you by saying it’s not “fast food”. Also, the order was taken 15-20 min after we were seated. In the beginning, the host was advising that we could remove the mask by saying everyone is vaccinated. When questioned if they were checking vaccination cards, she said no and that she just assumes everyone is vaccinated. By the way, the hosts here don’t were masks unlike most other places. Beware, with the delta variant around, if you are a cautious person. I hope the host focused on bringing the food in a timely and orderly manner rather that advising about how the mask is not needed. Would not recommend this place.
A new bartender perfected a Sapphire cocktail with honey & spice. Full bar service with a healthy scotch and fine spirit line.
Professional staff, professional management -
Garlic nab - thin, tender, flavorful without being bitting.
An appetizer of filled chili pepper with toasted peanuts and onions ... memory making.
As was a chef’s specialty salmon dish.
Biryani selections... so many worthy of return trips-
House infused spices, mint, chilies - flaming trio of shrimp, lamb and paneer...
Their service needs some serious training. The waiters are not very familiar with their own menu items. The service is slow and prices are very expensive. Their robotic server is honestly useless if the waiter/waitress just follow it to the table. It would make more sense if that robot was used for self serve.
First time going and it was amazing. Great for family style dining and every single thing we had was incredible. Incredible wine list as well.
We’re a group of six people and enjoyed the entire time at the table. They had a huge wine list, from which we choose couple of wine bottles. Food and service are amazing. Decor is perfect.
Very bad first time experience.very poor service. They charge u $8 for water bottle and it is madotory. This is ridiculous. Just they are claiming high end indian restaurant but service horrible.😡
Birthday. It was good
Most recommended dessert was a big disappointment
Great food and amazing ambience/decor. Menu has plenty of variety with Indian veg, non veg, and IndoChinese options as well
Great service provided by a very attentive staff. Hostess was also very helpful and accomodating.
In Edison, I would say this is a top upscale restaurant for Indian cuisine. Food preparation, presentation and taste all met our very high expectations.
Govardhan, thank you for paying personal attention to our requests.
Absolutely amazing dinner and service. Highly recommend and will be coming back soon. What a wonderful meal.
We were a group of 6 adults celebrating a birthday. The food, quality and service was excellent. The portions were good and pricing was slightly on the higher side but worth it.
The service, the ambience & the food were all amazing! Great evening.
Pleasant staff but likely overwhelmed waited close to 30 mins before even seeing an employee who could bring us a menu.
The presentation of the food is nice but the biryani lacked any taste at all. The remaining items we had were okay.
Service was excellent! Food was good. I brought a cake to celebrate my friend’s birthday and they were very accommodating. Made her feel special. We were welcomed with a drink and all recommendations were great. Definitely try the Angarey Paneer appetizer.
Great restaurant would def recommend for the experience.
Had a great time. Service and hospitality was great. Food was awesome. The presentation was amazing. Would highly recommend this place
Finally a great food place for all foodies out there. Our experience at Deccan Spice Edison was nothing less than spectacular. The place is huge which allowed for ample social distancing and the decor is awesome and creates a great ambiance. Finally “The Food” outstanding, some of our favorites, Deccan Special Chicken Biryani, Chicken pepper, Chicken lollypop and Kadai Chicken. We tried couple of items every time we visited and the mouth watering taste keeps us going back to the place again and again. Very friendly and especially professional staff, the ambience, the food and the nice bar.. at last we have a great place to hang out in New Jersey!!
Mediocre food for the price they charge .. the ambiance was the best part. The restaurant pretends to be a high end joint but lacks the sophistication.
Mother’s Day Prix Fixe Menu is extraordinary.
Amazing Service and Food. Starters and main course was Fabulous.. Will be coming back soon for special occasions and definitely recommend to My friends. Nice ambiance too.
The food here was good, but not great. The service was extremely uncomfortable; our server kept forcing us to order more and kept stopping by to ask my sister and I about our ethnicities (typical where are you two from but mean cultural wise) and told us we don't look what we are. We all felt super uncomfortable with his questioning and constant pestering. We are also unable to order tap water as they only serve $8 Voss water....I understand it's a higher scale Indian restaurant, but I've been to better places and even they serve tap water. Rice was also not served with any of the dishes and we had to request it, with the server questioning why we wanted rice. The combined experiences will not make us return.
Food was top notch and the ambiance is fancy-modern. The food took an unreasonably long time to come out . However, the servers were attentive and continually refilled our water so that helped. Will go again. Ask about the flaming paneer/chicken/lamb-goat appetizer.
Great ambiance and even better food. The Flaming lamb chops are a must order. Servers were knowledgeable and their service was swift. It gets pretty busy on the weekends so I would definitely recommend reservations.
Upscale ambience, a diverse and traditional menu representing India's culinary diversity, and polite service. A great Indian fine dining experience in NYC.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Edison. High food quality, top notch service, super clean!
Upscale Indian restaurant serving yum food and cocktails.
Make sure to get a reservation before visiting.
Great food didn’t get to try much. But the length of bringing food out is something they need to work on. A group next to us got apps before us when they came 20 mins after us. Then never got there dinner 1.5hrs later. So service needs to be worked on in that respect. Took over 20 or so mins to get the check and asking 3/4 times for it. So Deff would try to place again for the food but just hoping the service is better. I think the problem is you have to go earlier they get overwhelmed and can’t handle the traffic load.
Lamb chops and Paneer Angare is amazing. If you want a decent restaurant experience combined with great Indian food, This is the place!!
Prepare not to be served water and to be at the restaurant for a total 3 hours. Very long waits for food and drinks
