Had very high expectations and wow were they exceeded. Fantastic food. Stellar service. Beautiful, casual atmosphere.
We love the food, ambiance and service. The pork dish surprised us with the complexity of flavors and tenderness, by the end we both were using the bread to get the last bits of that sauce!!
My wife and I were very impressed with the service. The food was amazing and the chicken is worth the wait. The staff was extremely attentive and we would definitely come back for another meal.
Fabulous food, great service and ambiance. Need to come back more often!
We always love our Decca Date Nights! The downstairs dining room is a little louder than an upstairs table, but by no means “noisy”. Both still offer some of the best service, food and ambience in Louisville.
Valentine’s Day dinner with another couple
Everything was delicious!
Waiter forgot part of our order. The bar tender before we sat for our meal made us wait 13 minutes before he acknowledged us, even after we stood in two different spots and waved at him. The food was small portions, tasted fine, just small. The couple next to us were incredibly loud and obnoxious, no one even asked them to moderate their tones. The thing that really made this a bad night was as follows. Looked on website to see the menu, no where did it mention a limited menu for the evening. Planned out what we wanted. Got there and were given a VD menu, very limited. Mostly things we didn't want. On top off limited non thrilling and small portioned choices, they hiked the price up. Originally, planning the night out we looked at items we wanted and would have been three courses and around 60 bucks each. They forced us into two choices per course, and none really appealed to us. Then put a minimum price tag of 85 dollars per person on top of the bad choices. The thing that really made us unhappy was I had called and asked if there was a special menu or anything before the night, and was told regular three course menu by the female on the phone. Never did she mention limited more expensive menu, nor did the website. Sadly we had looked very forward to this meal and left almost angry.
This place is consistently excellent. The Foos is always interesting and well done. The service is exemplary. We will continue to enjoy Decca.
The food was excellent. It was flavorful and delicious. The service was good too. The ambiance was cozy and romantic. My only complaint is the portion size. They were quite small. The dessert was basically a chocolate mousse cake the size of an Ande mint, literally, with a teaspoon of ice cream. My wife busted out laughing when they brought it out. However, it was really good. So, I spent over $200 on dinner and we had to stop afterward and get something to eat because we were still hungry.
We went to Decca for Valentine's Day for the three course meal offered for $85. I had the salad, steak, and chocolate desert. The salad was delicious, the steak was so-so (have had WAY better), and the desert was bite size. For the price, I would expect the food to be exceptional, but I was just left underwhelmed. However, we did receive outstanding service, and the recommended wine pairings were great! Loved the atmosphere and the cellar area is great for a pre-dinner drink, but the food just did not impress the way I was hoping it would.
This was our first visit, and it was a perfect experience! The service was impeccable as the meal progressed from one course to the next. Food presentation was beautiful, and we appreciated the unique flavors in each dish. The dining area has interesting decor and architectural features. The ambience was very nice as the music was not too loud, conversations were relatively quiet, and the lighting was just right to create a relaxed, enjoyable, and romantic time. We plan to visit again, and I highly recommend Decca for a top-notch dining experience!
The experience was outstanding. I even made a special request pre-visit and they completely accommodated and went above and beyond to make the experience perfect. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant for any special occasion or just a night on the town. Will be back.
Shrimp risotto out of this world. Chicken breast sauce and farrow wonderful. Chicken itself dry and over cooked. Lima beans fabulous. Decca uses too much salt. Mitchell the server wonderful. Time from order to delivery slower than your tax return for both drinks and food
Menu was limited and pretty pricey.
Didn't recognize most of the names of alcohols
Cola was organic ???
I was most impressed by the quality of the ingredients, the bold and unique flavor profiles, and the expertise in execution of the dishes
We always have a great time at Decca and were not disappointed this time either! Abigail was an excellent server and the food from the mussels app to the affogato dessert was outstanding!
First time dining at Decca with friends on a Saturday evening. The atmosphere is cool and vibrant, but not loud. The menu is inventive and interesting. With the help of our exceptional server, we chose to share several small plates and cocktails. Everything was delicious, and we had a wonderful time. I will definitely return.
Wonderful flavors in each dish. Nice wine selection.
Very few restaurants are as much of a sure thing as is Decca. You're always going to taste something new...even if that something new is something you have had before. The spin on the familiar will make it seem fresh and exciting. I can never say enough good things about Chef Pettry and her team... Especially Ashley B. First class, start to finish.
Excellent all round. I enjoyed both food, ambience and service. Love the variety and the excellent cocktails. Strong wine list and great ambience.
Service, food and ambiance was amazing! From the time we walked in, until the time we left it was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. When I’m back in Louisville I will be going back!!! The Food was delicious!!!
Decca is one of our favorite restaurants in town! Food was amazing, and grabbing a drink in the cellar.
The food was average. I had the pasta dish and it basically was noodles with a very salty butter sauce-not imaginative, not delicious. My guest had the salmon and it also was nothing spectacular for the price. We have gone many times. The menu doesn't really seem to change that often. They still serve the same old boring focaccia, that on many occasions comes to the table half-stale. The atmosphere is nice, just a low energy vibe from the kitchen and menu. Each time we visit with guests, none of the guests ever raves about the food being delicious. This often happens with modern-eclectic cuisine. The food is more conceptual , thus more nurturing to the mind than delicious in the tummy.
Service was fantastic as was the food. Simple decor which is appropriate as the food and drinks are the focus. Our small group of 4 shared our plates and absolutely loved it. This is one of those places that we all said 'we will no doubt be back!"
The menu didn't feel inviting or exciting - the risotto was good but not great, the focaccia bread didnt have flavor, the grilled salad was AMAZING, the pork shank was mostly fat and sloppy to eat and the entire bowl turned brown and greasy. Disappointed there wasn't a steak available. The sweet potatoes had a strange sour pickled like base. The devils food cake was the biggest disappointment of the evening. Just too different and not comforting - i would recommend a friend to try but i wouldnt return myself. Service was wonderful our server tried to help us order something she thought was good.
Decca has it all. An eclectic menu, outstanding food flavors and an intriguing and relaxing atmosphere. Great place and I will be going back often.
We loved it! Loved the music selection... our meal was perfection
It has been a couple of years since we went to Decca in the winter time. Why? The noise inside. It was great when we could get a spot on the porch upstairs on a pleasant evening. But the noise inside was just too much.
On a whim, we went one Friday night recently following an opening at Pyro Galleries, just a few blocks away. The sound level was pleasant. There was a reasonable crowd so it could have been uncomfortable for conversation at our table. But, whatever Decca has done to the sound level has brought us back even during cold weather.
The service was a tad slow getting started. It took longer than expected to get drink orders taken and served. But once we reached that point, we were well taken care of.
The food was excellent. The mussels were perfect with the sauce. The bread served with the mussels had been charred a bit too much for my taste. The mussels, the chicken and the pork not only were tasty; the chef had used subtle additions to the sauces to promote the textures and mouth feel in a wonderful way.
We'll be back.
First time here and the food was wonderful. Mussels appetizer, the grilled broccoli with almonds and the spicy shrimp entree were all flavorful and beautifully presented. Was really impressed with this restaurant !
Decca is a wonderful spot for a delicious dinner!
New Year’s Eve
Amazing dinner! Loved every course. Love that they feature local farmers, especially Rivercrest Farms.
This was our second visit to Decca, and on both occasions, the food was great; we thoroughly enjoyed our selections. The wine list is extensive and has something for every palate and budget. We brought family who were in town for the holiday's, and I was embarrassed because all they could focus on was how loud it was. Unfortunately, the noise is to the point where it has become the most defining feature we remembered on both occasions. On the first visit there was a bachelorette party upstairs, the rest of the dining room couldn't speak to one another, I know this because we were between seatings, and all four tables remarked on this. The volume was understandable under these circumstances, and written off as unfortunate timing. On the second occasion, there were no parties, but it continued to be so loud that no one at our table could speak to each other. We asked to be moved to a table where we could at least hear one another, but were told this wasn't an option. The noise is unfortunate because the food is great, and the service is totally on point, but if I'm going to have a $300 meal, I'd like to enjoy it with the company of my table-mates. I will give it another chance specifically requesting for the most quiet spot in the restaurant, and hopefully under these circumstances it will make the ambiance tolerable.
Good food and great atmosphere in bar and restaurant
What a wonderful find. Drinks to dessert. Everything was perfection
Perfect In every way!
