Came in after matinee at the theater had a wonderful meal able to talk and relax! Service & Food were excellent! A little pricey but worth it!
This was our first time at Dear. The three of us split the unusual and delicious Chicken Cushion. Service was top notch. For a bit of added fun, they had a selection of unique wine decanters to choose from. We were in the vault, which is a bit quieter than the main dining room. We will be back!
Date night! First visit to DR&B, we ate at the bar and reacquainted ourselves with Steven the Somalia and met Isaac the bartender. We had an excellent meal as well as excellent service!
Excellent service and great food. Our server, Ben did a great job and provide a great food recommendations. Also, ask for Cole he will provide great wine suggestions.
The left side of the menu is absolutely stellar, however the obvious staffing issues last night made the experience a bit frustrating. Outside of the wait and lost food ticket, Dear very graciously compensated for their mistakes with free food and a significant comp to our final bill. Our server, Amber was amazing and great under pressure.
I am not a review writer but this experience requires one. We arrived at 530 and grabbed 4 seats at the bar Issac was or bartender and did a wonderful job. We sat for dinner between 615-630. Our waiter recommended a white wine that was very nice, then we moved to a bottle of Red wine is was ok.. but did not open. We ordered dinner by 7. 2 orders of Lamb, 1 order of Beef short ribs, 1 order of sausage and clams. After we waited an hour we asked the server for an update and he was surprised the manager had not stopped to address wait. So he ran and grabbed us "free rolls" we waited another 30 minutes and our food finally arrived. The lamb was cold and overcooked, the Short ribs were to salty and sent back, the clam dish was ok. Once they took back a the short ribs someone showed up and set a cold extra cooked salmon down with out asking. After dinner was done it took another 20 minutes for them to clear the table. We finally stacked the dishes to have some room and left at 9:15. The they gave us our bill $430.00. (they did remove the ribs)
This was a complete fail on all fronts. We would not return and excited for the next restaurant to open, as the space is fabulous.
Delicious food and great staff!!
Loved this restaurant. Great concept, great food, great experience!
Service was great! Food was very good for brunch but a few more choices would have been nice. The homemade sausage was really good. I’ve had some great brunch for less money but the restaurant is beautiful and the service is very good.
Hands down the best salmon I have ever tasted! The charcuterie was delicious and fresh!
Service was excellent! Food took a while to be delivered to the table. Slightly over priced. Atmosphere was lovely!
Had the Waygu for 2. Amazing. Great wine and bourbon list. Wait staff was unobtrusive but attentive. Wonderful dining experience.
Very limited menu and a somewhat eclectic menu, in my opinion. The raw bar oysters were excellent and priced as you would expect but the entrees were very expensive. $70 for a 7oz Delmonico steak was not a good value. Best value was the burger. All would have been OK for a first visit but the service was very slow and the dinner didn't flow - disappointing. Very nice wine selection at a premium.
The experience was less than what you would expect looking at their menu.
One and done for us.
We went for Sunday brunch and enjoyed it thoroughly! Pancakes…yum. Emily, our server, was outstanding. Will be back.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and cannot wait to go back! Nathan took excellent care of us. INCREDIBLE food and cocktails!
We were sat in a back room with two other couples and it was dead quiet…no music on or anything. It was eerie. I had to ask the server if there were any specials he didn’t offer up to us. The charcuterie was amazing. But my husbands $70 SMALL steak and my extremely bland pasta dish were disappointing enough that we will not be coming back. The wine pours are also very very small. They did eventually turn some music on and there was a cocktail of the night that looked amazing but unfortunately that was never offered to us.
We had a fantastic experience at Dear. The interior of the restaurant is absolutely stunning, the food was exceptional, the wine selection and presentation is hands down the best in Cincinnati. Thank you Austin and Ben for the incredible experience!
Brunch was delicious!
Fabulous Sunday brunch experience! The decor and ambiance are amazing, the interior is truly stunning. The service was outstanding, attentive and knowledgeable but not overbearing. I ordered the smoked salmon tartine with scrambled eggs which was excellent, the smoked salmon was incredible. My husband really enjoyed the Waygu beef with pimento cheese. Although we were full, we tried an order of churros which I highly recommend (the generous serving allowed me to take some home for a treat the next day). Excellent Bloody Mary, too:)! We will be returning for a date night soon.
When you enter the room with the bar is incredibly noisy but if you are seated in the dining room there was no noise at all. Food was excellent. Everything we ordered was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The salmon was delicious with its accompaniments the salad was simple but but perfect, the roasted carrots are a must, the hamachi (sp?) pate was terrific. An excellent meal. I will be back-provided I can sit in the dining room!
Staff is great. Ambiance is okay, but doesn’t seem up to the price tag. Silly example, but the chairs are small and hard. Outdoor chairs seem like metal/woven material. Does not make you feel like you should be paying $$$.
Food was unexceptional for any restaurant, which is especially disappointing given the price.
The food was delicious! The service not so great. I think they were very under-staffed, and we had to wait awhile for our food and beverages. But overall a good restaurant.
We had a very special evening on the back patio at Dear Restaurant. The food and wine were amazing, and our servers were friendly and very knowledgable. I would highly recommend!
We were there to celebrate my husband’s birthday, when I called and I asked if they did anything for birthday’s, they told me they did but when dining, nothing was brought up about it. Also the server never checked up on us to make sure we didn’t need anything. Hard to get servers attention
The food was delicious. The server was excellent, although stretched too thin as they were short staffed. We were there for three hours, not by choice. It wasn’t the server’s fault. The food just came out extremely slowly. I have no idea what the staffing was in the kitchen, but they really need to figure out a way to get food out in a more timely manner. It is inexcusable to wait for 45 minutes for a salad which was not even a cooked item. We waited another 45 minutes for the main course, and another 25 minutes for the dessert menu. My coffee never arrived, and we had to remind our waiter for our rolls which ended up coming out after our salads were finished. The sad thing is that the food was really good, and we would like to go more frequently, but will think twice about if we want to sit so long for a meal.
The bar was slow. The waiter was respectful and knowledgeable. He did a good job.
The menu was limited. Don’t expect your empty glass to be refilled or addressed. I waited an excessive amount of time for each glass of wine. We ordered our food quickly, out of fear for the delay in service. Then after ordering a to-go dessert and a glass of wine. We waited…. And waited… and waited. Finally the glass of wine arrived.
I started to enjoy it. Still waiting for our dessert to come to the table. Then we were approached by an employee, who was not our waiter. He explained that our “left overs” were at the hostess stand.
I explained that I didn’t have leftovers. ( I actually had a lot of left over food but did NOT want to take it with me ) After an awkward silence, I asked if he was referring to my “to go” dessert.
In short, I have NEVER felt chased out of a restaurant before this. I had a nearly full glass of wine that I left behind. It was clear that they wanted us out to reuse the table and underserve the next couple. That would be fine, I don’t linger. In this case, the service was painfully slow. I was left feeling disrespected and unappreciated. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We had a great evening at Dear. Our server, Amber, was terrific. She was professional, friendly and made our experience truly exceptional. There were a few hiccups with the food, but Amber handled them so professionally and sincerely that they really were just that, minor hiccups. The wine list is outstanding and I think must try items are the oysters, the carrots, the rolls and the steak. It is pricey, but worth it for a nice night out.
Liked it better the 1st time I visited. Food was okay. Service was okay. Wine was awesome. The place itself is awesome. Was really excited to go. Maybe my expectations were unrealistic.
We had an unbelievable dining and experience. The service was outstanding the dinner was beyond our expectations.
I’ve dined at Dear twice. First for dinner, and more recently for brunch. Both dining experiences have been exceptional. Nathan was our server both times and not enough can be said about the amazing service provided. Dear is quickly becoming one of my favorites places to enjoy a delicious meal and great drinks.
This place has it all going on. Food was amazing
11/10! Sunday brunch couldn’t have been better
They always go beyond duty at Dear . The experience is one of the best , professional friendly and very classy .
One of the best restaurants in town
My wife and I were impressed by both the charcuterie board and the pork belly. She ordered the gnocchi and was underwhelmed. Overall, however, we enjoyed the experience.
Food was unique but the menu was strange as to choice sections. The pork belly chop was delicious and fairly priced but the filet which our guest ordered was $60 and just a normal filet. And pasta is just pasta after all. So while a lovely renovated space with unique food I don’t feel this restaurant will last as the prices are very high such as $110 for a chicken dish? The former restaurant was a neighborhood drop in spot…this is not.
Had a chucuterie board, good selection of meats and cheeses. Had the 18oz ribeye, med rare. Shared easily for 2. Perfectly cooked w herb and sauce. Excellent flavors. Austin was the wine steward and very helpful and knowledgeable. A bit pricy but will return.
First the bad.
When we arrived for our reservation, we were escorted to our table. Which wasn't ready. So we had to step back away and hang out.
We were seated in the room with the safe door - where all tables were occupied by senior citizens. While the front room and by the entrance, all the tables were filled with young, hip people. I get it. I get why they do it. Perhaps make it less painfully obvious.
Cocktails and oysters came out quickly. But so did our entrees - while we were only halfway done with oysters. Because of that lightning fast speed, we didn't get our with-dinner wine until our entrée plates were nearly empty.
We also ordered some bread for the table - which never came. We didn't get charged for it so chalk it up to our server forgetting to put in the order.
Now the good.
The food, from the two kinds of raw oysters, to the Delmonico steak with potato and bordelaise, to the pork belly and eggplant, to the lobster roll, - this was some of the best food we've ever eaten in Cincinnati.
Awesome food- maybe the best in the city right now. Great service and amazing wine list!
The indivi was overpriced
Everything was beyond creative, beautiful and delicious!! Superb wines, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Such a treat in a gorgeous setting! Can’t wait to go back!
