DeNovo has CLOSED!
I only found this out by reading it in our local newspaper. I had a business reservation at the restaurant for the next day, yet heard nothing from DeNovo or Open Table.
I brought this to your attention at the time, but, apparently, no updates have been made to your database.
Annoying, folks.
They were not open!!!!!
The restaurant was closed
Out of businesses
Waited over 10 minutes to be seated by hostess. It appears the hostess was also busing tables which created a long time of customers to be seated. Once seated waited over 10 minutes for the server to come to our table only to tell us she would be right with us. 5 minutes later she returned to the table. Good was good.
Food very good. Service wonderful. Prices very reasonable.
Had a lovely dinner after the matinee at the Ohio theatre
We went after a theatre show. Great ambiance and friendly service. We had the Crispy Truffle Honey Fried Chicken and the Slow Braised Short Rib. The chicken was amazing, perfect temperature, great flavors all around. The short rib was a little bland however. Will come again!
The calamari starter was amazing. The drinks were delicious. Unfortunately, the lobster Mac was cold, overpriced, seriously lacking the lobster appeal ($32 got us 8-10 small pieces) and just average tasting. The bill was also confusing and hard to read.
Our server was awful. We did have a party of 5 and unfortunately all parties of 5? or more add a 20% gratuity. Who ever heard of parties of 5 have to pay 20% gratuity. Our food was cold and the chicken was overcooked and dry. We asked for plates for our apps, never got them. Had to wait for our check. In all it was just a bad meal. It was obvious that he knew he didn't have to make an effort because he was guaranteed his tip!
Now I know why the restaurant is closing. Too bad because it is a beautiful building.
Went before a broadway show. Good food, good service, perfect location for the Ohio Theater. Will be back.
De Novo was a fun place to go for a special birthday dinner. The bread pudding was amazing! On the pricier side but the food was still very good. Would go there again!
Disappointing this location and restaurant is closing January 14, 2018.
I had the salmon and it was delicious! My husband enjoyed his scallops also!
Great service - aware we were going to a show and made sure we got the check in time.
Food was unique/original and yummy.
Shared the Pork Rib Tips app (unique and great)
Shared a small Salmon plate - again cooked perfectly
We will be back - seating was inside due to winter but nice view overlooking the commons
I believe Desiree was our waitress. Ahe was excellent. Personable, prompt and knew the menu. Would love to go back again.
We made reservations for dinner before going to the Ohio theater. Food was good, service was fair. They allowed me to keep my car parked with the vallet until after the show, but as you can imagine there was a number of people who did the same thing so there was a line to get our car and only one vallet and it was very cold and the doors were locked to the restaurant. We waited a very long time to get our car. We froze!! But we survived, so overall it was convenient not to have to find parking.
They had several gluten-free offerings which was essential. Comfortable for our family.
Nice atmosphere. Would be awesome in the summer. Contemporary menu.
We tried the brunch menu at De Novo. The food is very sweet--even options that should otherwise be savory. My husband ordered the brussel flatbread. The dough was a very sweet dough--as in a pastry level sweet. The menu said it would have a maple-bourbon glaze, but there wasn't one. I am wondering if this was a one time mixup as the flavor profile was just extremely odd. However, the other options we enjoyed were very good. The french toast is also very sweet as it has some bruleed sugar as a crust, but it was a tasty treat for those who have a sweet tooth. We also had the salmon salad and the crab cakes--both excellent. The decor is interesting, albeit a tad gouche, and the view over the Columbus Commons is great. Overall, the brunch was good with the exception of the flatbread.
Food is always amazing! We have tried numerous items on their menu and everything is delicious and looks incredible. I definitely recommend to try the kangaroo if they have it available!
Went for NYE with a reservation but when we arrived there was a line of people who had reservations before us and had been waiting up to 60 minutes. We were told there were only 4 waitresses. We left and had a great meal elsewhere.
Made a reservation for NYE for 2 for 8:30... by 8:45 we still hadn't seen a host, and there was a few other people waiting for the host to check in for their reservation as well. We finally saw a host after I wandered around the restaurant looking for someone who worked there, but as I was wandering, I could see that less than half of the dining area was full and only passed 2 servers total. We were told to wait by the bar for our table because it was being cleared off, but by 9:15 we had no drinks from the bar and we had made a reservation elsewhere.
New Years Eve. Jenny was amazing. Ambiance was really cool. We enjoyed the food, but really loved the live jazz music and service.
We had read the other reviews for this restaurant and had decided to give it a go for NYE. While the place was pretty and the staff was fairly attentive the food was mediocre at best. For the price of the entrees one would have anticipated a better food experience. The food was under seasoned leaving it bland, not at proper serving temperature (Israeli couscous with dried cherries) wasn't warm at all, while the food presentation was nice the taste did not live up to the pretty dishes on which it was served. Good cocktails, nice ambiance but overall not worth the price tag for the food. Won't be back or be able to recommend to friends and colleagues.
As I noted to my wife, it's not that it was bad, it just wasn't good. The views of Columbus Commons from the dining room were awesome! The service from their staff was good. The food service was too fast. We ordered an appetizer and a couple minutes later it was in front of us. Same thing happened with our entrees. It was obvious they had precooked the food and were just holding it in the kitchen, then plating as it was ordered. My wife ordered the salmon, which was overcooked, yet not warm enough when it was served. As a matter of fact, everything on her plate was room temperature. She honestly couldn't tell if the dish was intended to be hot or cold because it was neither. I ordered the short ribs. They were okay. The whipped potates that accompanied them were sooooo boring. The sauce that everything was swimming in was mildly sweet, but otherwise flavorless. The execution of the food by the kitchen staff just wasn't good.
The food was warm
So sad they’re closing! Went for a birthday/holiday dinner with 5 of us. Love the food, decor and vibe. The Commons was all lit for Christmas and we had a great time. Our server, Desiree, was very nice— she even moved us to a new table because the one we were sat at was very brightly lit. The food was great, scallops, duck, salmon for entrees. The wine list was ok, not outstanding.
Have always enjoyed every meal at De Novo. So sorry to learn that it is closing soon. Our server, Brandon was great. Excellent advice, style, personable, responsive!
Food was cold and when sent back remained cold although we weren’t charged for it but poor experience. Great ambience but poor food for all 4 dining there with 4 different entres
Nice setting but service was slow. Food was fine, but limited menu.
Special meal for us on Christmas Eve. Great seats where we could see Beautiful Christmas lights in Columbus Commons. I had the salmon entree and he had The sea bass entree. Both were exceptional! Finished up with dessert of Yuengling ice cream—there is no beer in it, but it is delicious.
Server told us restaurant is closing in one month. Very noisy. Beautiful view overlooking Columbus Commons. Food and service were below average. Very disappointed. Would not dine there again.
Beautiful view of Christmas lights. It was a wonderful dinner with our family and helped get us in the holiday spirit.
Love it! Been here several times and it never disappoints! Christmas lights in the Commons is a bonus!
Excellent lunch! We both had salads and enjoyed them very much. The southwest salad has some kick! The place was fairly crowded - good to see.
Every dining experience starts with the host or hostess at the front door. For the life of me I don't understand why a restaurant puts a blase, unfriendly greeter at the front of the house. When we arrived, the "host" didn't say good evening, or even hello. Instead, he barely looked up and said "Do you have a name?" Get over that, but you are sent to the bar to wait for your table even though there are 11 open tables. They give you a specialty drink menu and then are out of some of the ingredients to make the drinks. Come to find out, your spending $11 on a drink at the bar because the kitchen is backed up due to a big party. Here's a tip - if you can't handle a big party and the regular dinner crowd - close down for the evening. While our waiter was great, we had to ask for bread (seriously?). Food, when it did come out was tasty, but lacked any special flare. This restaurant is in a great location, but inside could use some work. The lights in the bar had cobwebs hanging off of them, the restrooms were disgusting for a restaurant charging these prices, and a view into the kitchen makes you wonder if it also has been recently cleaned.
Running out of choices for decent places to eat in Columbus that aren't part of a chain with the same menu - just a different price or venue. I'd skip this one as it's nothing special - even though the people there treat you as if you should be honored to be there. Best service was the valet parker!
Awesome restaurant. Great decor and excellent views of the Commons and the Christmas lights. The food was great and the Cesar salad was the best with the unique parmasan bowls. Tevin our server was the best and made our evening a night to remember. Thanks Tevin and the whole crew. Our new favorite.
love this place - wonderful view of the Christmas lights
A disappointing evening. Bar drinks tasted flat. Felt the food was overpriced for what you got. A younger management team, focused on each other and it appeared - anyone they thought might bring a heftier tip. Poor layout. Scary decor. Beautiful view of the Columbus Commons.
I seem to get the same table and I love it! Had a lovely merlot and delectable salmon with Israeli couscous. Felt enveloped in the spectacular Commons holiday lights.
