Cafe Con Leche / De Noche Ratings and Reviews
Not a great experience. We were seated in the "diner" looking area with the windows, very small and cramped. The bar/restaurant area on the other side looked much more inviting. Appetizers were pretty much all $9.95-pretty steep. I ordered fajitas and they were mostly large chunks of peppers and onions-not much flavor and hardly any meat/fish.
The margaritas were very weak and small and at $10 a pop, expensive. Service was friendly and prompt. Parking is hard, not the restaurant's fault, but we won't be fighting for a spot anytime soon.
Hands down my favorite Mexican/Latin food in the city. More upscale than a regular Mexican place, excellent food, excellent margaritas and mezcal mixed drinks. Not your ordinary Mexican food. My husband and I go here for birthdays, anniversaries, beautiful summer days because we just really love it.
Great service, friendly atmosphere and delicious food. Everything was served promptly it had the right amount of heat and had delicious flavors. The menu was innovative and I would highly recommend this restaurant! The hostess Maria and the server Jose made my date and I feel right at home. A great neighborhood find!
Lipstick all over the rim of my water glass. Hey, not all dishwashers are the best, I get that. But maybe double check before setting the table? Maybe if it wasn't so dark some would have noticed. Got it swapped out quick, and server was apologetic.
Found hair in the batter of my tacos de pescado. Like a lot of it. It was awful. I didn't mention it because I didn't want to ruin everyone else's meal. I'm guessing restaurants this dark keep the lights low for more reasons than just ambiance.
Went here with my girlfriend for dinner on a Friday night. I got the Ropa Vieja, and she got the chicken enchiladas. Both were great tasting, with standard, but great tasting, sides. The tables are a bit close together, and we were unfortunately next to a couple louder tables. Overall, it was a great experience, and the food was amazing....but our server was a bit standoffish. He even offered us dessert and coffee before we had even received our meals! I'd still go again, though.
Great neighborhood Mexican restaurant. The portions aren't huge, but the food is generally tasty. The queso fundito with corn & mushroom, burrito suizo, fried rice pudding cake (you read that right), and cafe con leche were all very good. My only complaint was the temperature inside the restaurant. It was nearly as hot inside as it was outside. Not comfortable at all on a summer evening.
In the past we have had many wonderful dinners at D'Noche. This time, however, it wasn't so good. They've changed the menu from "Latin Fusion" to "Mexican" and while the food was good, the menu was more exciting and the food was better under the "Latin Fusion" umbrella. Additionally, our service was not quite terrible, but certainly lackluster. Having to wave vigorously to get our server's attention while she was taking with another server was not only frustrating but only one of the things she did that made our tip lower than it might have been. I have recommended this place in the past, and I suppose I will in the future, but it will come with a caveat.
This used to be a favorite place of ours - this visit was very different... the menu was very limited. The salad that is on the OpenTable menu was "no longer available as of today" we were told...and being a vegetarian, they really don't offer many options. Everything has too much cheese and was very salty. I'd prefer to taste the FOOD, not salt. The $14 margaritas were nothing special at all. Service was lackluster and not all that friendly.
We ate here one night after looking online for a restaurant near the blue line stop when coming home from the airport. This place had really good reviews so we gave it a shot. It was good, not great. My husband had the flank steak with chimichurri sauce and I had the vegetarian enchiladas. Drinks were also okay--classic margarita and red sangria. If we lived in the neighborhood we'd probably return but likely not since we don't live near the area and would explore other Logan Square restaurants.
The food was decent but the menu is far from your typical Mexican restaurant. Our sever started out very attentive but then kind of forgot about us. The music was insanely loud for such a small space. For a three top table we spent most of the night shouting across the table.
Go for the red sangria. A pitcher is a bargain and will leave you feeling flushed and happy. I had the ropa vieja which was great. A little more chewy than I anticipated but the flavor a were savory and satisfying. For dessert we ordered the bread pudding (can't remember the name of the dish). Talk about divine. It was the most crave worthy desserts I've had in a looooong time.
I love this place. They have a range of food items and the best Mezcal Cocktails. The prices are so reasonable for what you get and we just love it every time we go. Would recommend the pork, empanadas and pretty much any appetizer - they are a great way to try the menu!
We went celebrating 19 yrs of marriage(even if we don't look old enough to be married that long :)), and they made us feel like we were the only ones in the place. They did a great job recommending gluten free options and food was absolutely amazing. We would definitely go back.
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Was very shocked to learn that they no longer served the cuban style food but rather mexican, which in my opinion tasted a lot better. Also, the menu was very limited as if it were a 5 start restaurant. Only a few selective recipes.
