A pleat surprise. New place here at PV. Very pleased with the service and the food was exceptional. Probably one of the only place that service good beef. I had the chicken and it was very good. My wife had the rib eye and she was quite pleased. Service couldn’t be better thanks to Gume. Only down side we’re two. One the guitar players had too much base and it was not pleasant. Second there were 4 guys in there smoking a cigar. Very unpleasant for people around them. They could care less. They were also flicking their ashes on the floor. A bunch of amateurs

This was my fourth time for eating at De Cantaro and it gets better every time. This time my husband and I both had a Caesar salad (outstanding), and shared the baby back ribs. All of their meats and fish are cooked on an open fire so the flavor is excellent. The service was attentive but not overbearing and they have a very broad wine list. The night we went there was a singer/guitar player who added to the ambience. De Cantaro is a hidden gem in Puerto Vallarta and it is a place where I know I will always get a good meal. Highly recommend.

This is a wonderful resturaunt. The food, ambiance and service all wonderful. This was our 2nd time there. 1st time was with the cruise and we had breakfast which was so amazing. This time no cruise went for dinner. Outstanding steaks. One of the best I have ever had. Thank you Dr Cantaro. Next time we are in PV we will be back.

We went here our first night in town this year and thought we'd give the new guys a try for my husband's birthday dinner. We arrived at 8:00 pm and were seated immediately. Our server was very friendly and took our drink orders after a few minutes. They took about 15 minutes to arrive but there were 6 of us and we had various cocktails and a bottle of wine so I wasn't too concerned. We ordered right away and 3 of us had the Mexican combination plate, one carne asada, 1 shrimp dish, and one slab of ribs. At 8:30 a group came in and sat at the table next to us. By 9:00 our food still hadn't arrived however the table next to us already had drinks and appetizers. At about 9:10 the waiters (there were 3 of them at the table next to us) were showing the group lobsters and steaks that they could order by the gram... we still waited. At 9:15 a server came and laid our dishes on a waiting serving tray (with one plate actually sitting on top of another meal) and then walked over to the other table and began talking with them - while our food sat there. After a few more minutes we were about to serve our own food and he finally came over and served us. Every single dinner was room temperature. Nothing was even close to being warm. I talked to the person in charge and was very clear that this was not acceptable and he agreed. He said he would talk to the kitchen about it, he'd be right back. Because it was almost 9:40 we just ate our food. He brought us 3 small plated of warm carne asada and then offered us a dessert to make up for our inconvenience. Four of us ordered Mexican coffee and our waiter did do a nice enough presentation but when the bill came he had only comped one Mexican coffee. Ridiculously insulting. I'm all for a leisurely dinner but this was not what it was. It was mediocre food with a poorly managed staff and kitchen. I say good luck to them and I'm betting they'll be gone by the fall.

It is a slow paced meal - no fast in and out.
When we were there they had a beautiful singer that sang half English songs and half Mexican- really good.
Food from appetizers to meal was terrific
We had octopus tacos , baby squid , guacamole.
For dinner most had the rib eye and said it was the best they ever had.
I had chili relleno, chicken mole - really good.

Overall place was a 10

Nous n’avons pas reçu notre plat principal après 2h d’attente, on ne nous a pas offert une boisson ou des petites chips avec salsas. Mauvaise gestion, pour un soir de Noël c’est innaceptable.

It was Christmas Eve so pretty packed but service was very slow. Took about 45 minutes after ordering to get our apps and then after waiting another 75 minutes for entrees we decided to leave. Worth waiting for a table at a reputable restaurant than going with the open table here.

I was pleasantly surprised with this spot. We had lunch here on a Sunday and it had a choice of buffet or a la carte. We also had the choice of sitting outside or inside. There was live music outdoors so we opted for sitting outside. It was good choice as they had fans to keep the July heat down and the bonus was that we could easily see the fire pit for all the delectable grilling. We chose the a la carte: calamari aioli and guacamole/chips for apps. Both tasty. The grilled lobster was gigantic and done to perfection. My Mexican Platter (a sampler plate) was really good except the chicken in the mole was cold (but great flavor). We had the grilled plantain for dessert- FANTASTIC! The best part of our experience was the service. Like typical July, it began to pour in the middle of the afternoon while we ate. The staff immediately moved us indoors and allowed us to hang out for almost 90 minutes until it was no longer storming. The whole staff was charming and accommodating. Will come back to this place for sure!

Food is great and service is good too, but there was live music on the terrace with loud competition from the restaurant next door. This made for a noisy evening dinner here.
