DBGB NYC - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
One of our best experiences. We ate here a few times before, and again, were happy with our choice.Maybe only one remark: the wine list, by the glass, is very limited. The rest of the list by bottle is just remarkable.
The food is excellent, the service impeccable, and we just keep loving it!
Nice place, very hip, but very, very noisy. Menu was almost impossible to read due to poor lighting--I had to use a small candle on the table, and that didn't help much. Service was attentive without being overbearing. I had the grilled octopus, which could have spent just a little bit less time on the grill, but was tender, and the lamb loin--also tender and tasty. My wife had the Polonaise sausage and steak frites. Both were good, but we've had better steaks elsewhere. This is the fourth Daniel Bouloud-owned restaurant we've been to and have enjoyed each one. Would return again to sample other offerings on the menu. Bring earplugs if you go--noise level makes it almost impossible to carry-on a dinner conversation.
The NOISE is over the top. Unable to hear anyone across the table. The server couldn't wait for our order coming every few minutes for the order then forgetting us and we waited 10 minutes before flagging someone down to get the check. The wine had a musty smell that the sommelier said was leather/earthy and expected in this wine and as we didn't ask for her help she had to be pushed to let us return the wine. The food was just ok. We havd tried since this place opened to get a reservation between 7-9 and finally was able to. maybe thuis is a sign that others have been disappointed also.
Great sausage and beer at the bar kinda place for after work drinks and camaraderie. Had a birthday dinner in the seated area. Good was very good, nothing stood out, but tasty and well presented. Service was polite and attentive. Ambiance was a bit industial, but expected.
We recently watched a Food Network special on DBGB and it's variety of sausages, however, it did not truly prepare us for the flavors offered by Daniel Boulud. The 16 or so sausage offerings categorized by flavors such as sweet, spicy, and cheesy provide diners an opportunity to enjoy sausages capturing the tastes of various countries. We enjoyed the Blood, Thai, and Provencal sausages that were accopmanied by garlic mash potato and Thai fried rice. Each sausage was tasty, but the Blood was the best sausage that I've ever had. If that was not enough, we also made two other amazing foodie picks in the bone marrow and the Frenchie burger. DBGB is definitely fit for foodies and I cannot wait for our next visit.
When we arrived we were initially shown to a table in the corner, but after pointing out that there were many "twos" at there other 4 tops the hostess moved us to a more open area. The service was attentive and informative. The food was quite well-executed, nothing over the top, but certainly nicely done. The portions are on the small side and my friend and I finished everything on the plate. The dessert, a sour cherry, pistachio pie with beer ice cream was a bit odd. The pie itself was gelatinous and not very flavorful. The restaurant is very expensive and not really worth the high prices. We had another dinner the next evening at Casa Mono and the bill was less for more plentiful, better food and wine.
The food was very good, but the service was even better!! We went there for my fiance b-day celebration lunch and he ordered Piggy - once of the best burgers he's had in a very, very long time. I had a couple of links, which were excellent as well. Dessert was to die for!! So be sure to splurge and get the dessert as well! I love the atmosphere and ambiance in the restaurant - would go back for sure!
Superb restaurant. I went on gourmet magazine recommendation and they were correct - it was a great gourmet meal at a good price. I got the recommended burger and it was by far the best burger I have ever had. The prix fixe lunch was a great option with a sundae that left us with nothing but praise for this gem. Go and you will be glad to get one of the best experiences in nyc.
