I love the burger Frenchie, it's so juicy and very well prepared. The ambiance is modern and it's really a cool place to be.
We have come every year for their French toast...not the same anymore
This place is large and clean - great for accommodating large groups!
Outstanding meal!
We went for restaurant week and enjoyed an amazing meal.
The steak tartare was heavenly and the duck breast entrée was absolute perfection!
Our server Ariel was friendly and efficient.
Definitely one of the best meals to be had in NYC.
We had a wonderful visit to DBGB's. It was my 2nd visit and I wanted to make this out last stop after our vacation to NYC. We had the burgers, which were wonderful. Jose was our waiter and he was friendly, personable and a wonderful host. I am very sorry to hear that DBGB will be closing this Friday and I hope that the staff are well taken care of.
The food took forever and the waiter was incredibly rude and unpleasant. When my friend asked him which sausage he recommended, he responded by saying, "they're all different." He never greeted us or gave us an update on our food. Just plain nasty. Calamari was burnt, mussels were mediocre, and the cake tasted like chemicals. I will most certainly not be dining at this restaurant again.
Nothing special...
The salad we ordered came with a plastic packaging tie in the plate, which meant they didn't check or clean the vegetable well enough. Mentioned this issue to the waiter, and just received a verbal apology from the manager. Meanwhile, the waiter didn't ask how to cook our steak and lamb chop, so they were both served as rare. Since they were too rare and hard to cut and chew, we couldn't even finish half of the plates. Overall, it was a disappointed Restaurant Week experience…
Some friends were in town recently &we were looking for a nicer local restaurant – DBGB seemed to be perfect. Each of us went with the prix fixe & 3 (out of 5) ordered dessert – the lava cake.
After a long time, I noticed the server stuck her head around the corner to see if we’d been served the first course; we hadn’t. Nor had bread or butter been served. She stopped by again & said she could see our 1st course getting ready to be served. They were, we ate, they were cleared.
The time between the 1st & main courses was too long, but not horrible. But we didn’t see our server again; she never checked on us. She went to other tables and two other servers brought our food/cleared our table. It was annoying to see others receiving normal service while we were ignored. The entire experience dragged – we were seated at about 7:20pm and it was now almost 9pm.
We continued to wait after the main course was cleared to see the dessert menu and we were told they were out of the lava cake. It was barely 9pm on a Saturday night, the place was ~60% full and they were out of most popular desserts?! Didn’t make sense. The original orders had been set aside; another of our group who had wanted to order it had to go with something else.
The server who took our dessert orders noticed we were annoyed and had manager come over. We waited 5 more minutes, during which, the original server stopped by. We said we’d asked for the manager since we hadn’t seen her through the meal. Nothing changed – she continued to walk by and not look our way.
The manager came over, we explained the situation and he said he would put our desserts first. Or not, since we didn’t get dessert for another 20 min. He offered to buy drinks; we declined - our goal wasn't to profit from our displeasure. We just expected competent service at a restaurant of DBGB's reputation.
All in all, very disappointing . I expected more & was embarrassed to have been the one to suggest DBGB.
Best restaurant week place we have been to ever. So awesome to be able to see the chefs work.
Delicious. Great service. $1 oysters are an absolute bargain and very good quality. Steak tartare was creative and as good as I've ever had, burger was also delicious. This restaurant mixes the eclectic with the basic extremely well. Highly recommend.
Great place. sorry it closed. happy hour was amazing
It was a celebration of my birthday. Loved hanging at the bar first. Great cocktails and bartenders. Food was great and I loved the choices of hearty to light. Just a fun place to hang out with friends where food is good without pretense.
First experience with DB establishment, have heard great things, and it lived up to its name. The Bowery brunch deal is a fantastic value and every single course was delicious!
Everything was delicious! Incredible service. Loved all of the salads.
The service was excellent. They were very quick, food was out very soon. It was delicious. The manager stopped by and was very kind to us. Will def be back. Had the chicken with extra jus it was excellent. Tender perfectly cooked.
Excellent food; my steak fillet had the perfect cook on it. Can get a little pricey, but overall good experience. Waited a little bit too long to pay the note.
Came here for the beer selection, which was outstanding, but the food was pretty great too.
Family meal
Everything was excellent including the surprising green bean salad with apricots and hazelnuts. Lamb chops delicious. The seafood plateau was wonderfully fresh!
Great food, great service. Went for Father's Day and I changed my reservation multiple times (4 times) and they accommodated my requests without a hitch. Just an overall great place for any occasion or just a regular day.
The food was excellent. The staff were all very very nice. The crowd was obnoxiously loud. The waiters and bartenders couldn't hear me and I couldn't hear them. That's the only downside.
We had a wonderful experience - called ahead to plan for kids coming and we were accommodated very nicely upon arrival. Hosts and servers were friendly and personable, sommelier very helpful and attentive (kept our glasses full - thank you!). And the food was spectacular. Duck and burgers were yummy yummy. Will definitely come back!
Ordered duck medium rare and came in at medium to well done. The vegetables on the plate were inundated with salt and unedible unless your a deer thst likes salt. The replacement roasted beets were almost cold. One of the desserts on the prix fixe was not available. Very disappointing for a Daniel Boulud restaurant.
Excellent service and the menu is varied with options for all.
I had heard amazing reviews about the Brioche French Toast. It met and exceeded my expectations. Crisp edges but yet creamy and sweet inside. The caramel and seasonally berries were the perfect compliment.
Brunch was SO good. Attentive waitstaff. The French toast was incredible. A favorite!
This is a nice place with good food. Beer and wine lists are great but a little expensive. Appetizers (asparagus with poached egg and crostini) were great. My two sausages were really good (especially the Thai one) but my wife's steak (steak frites) was bland and mostly tasteless. We did not have dessert. Service was as terrific as expected.
Service was great but the burger patty was dry and not juicy at all. They need to change the quality of meat being used esp if u are not going to season the patty at all. Disappointing for a $20 burger with so much hype around it.
Fries were great but crazy salted, could have done with half the amount of salt.
Food was tasty, presented ok. Service was great we had a fantastic waiter.
We tried variety of sausages, calamari and Carbonara. All were good but nothing overly special, maybe the group we were with were more picky!
Second time i've eaten there. The food doesnt dissapoint. The rice that was served with the thai sausage was a little saltier than i remember. My table felt a little ignored that night even though the restaurant didnt look that busy aside from the 2 big parties. But Great company and the show stopping dessert did help calm my nerves. All in all it was a good experience and i would go again.
Hostess, barmaid and waiters all very cordial. Food is good but not great.
Visiting NYC
Extremely disappointed by the service here. Our party was rarely attended to, despite the restaurant being fully staffed. The amount of time it took our server to come to our table after being seated was ridiculously long, as well as waiting for our actual orders. Food was nothing special with everything else in consideration. Would not recommend for a large party.
Slightly above average food at decent prices. Large venue allows for easy, last minute reservations. For big groups, they have "whole pig" or "whole cow" feasts that look fun!
Of course Mothersday-evening might not be the best moment to visit DBGB, but it's open and we go for it. Only 5 tables are occupied and Murphy's Law pays a visit. Slow service, no attention, raw pork sausage, and at 9.30 PM we are the only guests. After $ 240 + tip (2 pax) we leave at 9.55. There's nobody around to say goodbye or anything, we're dissapointed!
Great Mother's Day!
Very decent food and very remarkable service. Just a little too noisy. We would definitely come back next time in NYC.
We've been here many times and looked forward to coming back. This visit, the service was slow and spotty and our sausage duo meal, a dish recommended to us by our waitperson, was served RAW. The inside of one of the sausage types was literally raw. Once we were able to flag down our waitperson to tell them (no one checked on our food after being served), he immediately replaced it. But it was a drag to not be able to eat together. And worse was no apology or even an offer to buy our meal, dessert or even the extra glass of wine while we waited for the food to be remade. Disappointing. Won't go back. Too many other great places to patronize.
DBGB did not fail to surprise. We were lucky enough to enjoy their recent seasonal special. Chef Amin deep-fried the soft-shelled crab (youngsters of blue crab) in which case you can chew every bit of the crab and ingest it. it tastes like.. it is out of this world. on the sides there is beautiful lushy green english pea paste, as well as polenta made of corn; the portion is just right for a lady. oysters are fresh and tasty. the fire alaskan icecream cake was a magnificent performance to watch, according to our waiter Rolando, it burns using a 50/50 alcohol (?) for the fuel. people here love their work. highly recommend dbgb for anyone wants great food, friendly ambience, and amazing aethetics.
