I’m a fan of Daniel Boulud and this restaurant is now on my list of DC favorites! I was lucky to dine on the patio on a beautiful day. The staff was very helpful, kind and efficient, and the meal was delicious. I chose from the 3 course lunch menu, ordering the farro salad and the Cavaletti pasta dish. The restaurant chooses your dessert and mine was a lemon tart topped with blueberries. With another day and a half left in the city, I’m looking forward to my next visit—Saturday brunch maybe!!
After a long day of touring it s was greta finding DBGB. We had a wonderful dining experience. We ate out doors and found the projected images so beautiful.
Loved sitting outside on a mild September evening. The server inquired about food allergies which I wish all restaurants would do. My partners tuna was spot on, however my duck was a bit overcooked. This was our second time here and would come again.
Really great service by server and other staff. Gaspacho and seafood dishes very good. Baked Alaska is not the best dessert choice there. It flames, but tastes like fluff on top.
Visited DC for a few days, and ate here twice because it is charming, great service and food - in a nice neighborhood. Across from the Grand Hyatt.
First time visit and was able to purchase a Travelzoo coupon to try the restaurant. Glad we did. Food was thoughtfully prepared and plated well. Everything we tried was delicious and will return. Servers were very good. It was so nice to go to a restaurant where the staff is friendly and well trained.
Exceptional food and cocktails. I highly recommend it for foodies and craft cocktail lovers.
Sat outside for Happy Hour and beyond. Great waiter. He overheard that it was my birthday and brought us a complimentary dessert, with a candle of course. Happy hour is a good value with interesting food selections. Really nice place to catch up with friends
Seated outside on a beautiful night. The fresh baguette and butter with a perfect rose!! We shared the charcuterie board which was filled with pate and meats and mustards. A little cheese would have been nice. The entrees and the gazpacho were all very generous and tasty.
For some reason the original waiter vanished but another manager, I assume, came to his rescue.
But so glad we went!!
Food was amazing and great service!
Slow evening at the restaurant, yet very long wait for our drinks. Food was great!
Great meal tonight - our third visit. First of all Ashlee and Erica were a fantastic and funny team who took care of us. DBGB should be proud of how these 2 people enhance a dining experience at the restaurant. Two thumbs up for the heirloom tomato salad which was so flavorful. Had the ribeye which was perfectly cooked and was tender (and I like it very well done) and the Bernaise sauce helped bring it to a fantastic steak. Had the profiteroles for dessert which gave us a great ending to our meal. Will be back here on our next visit to DC.
Rudy was excellent server. Food outstanding. Comfortable booth seating. Will return.
DC was dead for this visit, so the restaurant was quiet. I like the ambiance. Service was great. Food very good—French bistro style. Very reliable choice. Not cheap though.
The lunch "romaine salad with salmon" for $25 is certainly not great. The salmon on the salad was not clarified that it was "cured salmon", and you receive such little salad for $25.
It's very typical of the restaurants around that particular Metro Center area, and disappointing overall. I've tried this restaurant 3 times and have left unsatisfied each time. I won't be going back- there are many, many great DC restaurants to go to where you can pay the same amount but have an amazing food experience.
On the plus side, their service is typically okay, they have a decent cocktail and beer/wine selection. The menu tries to be fun and inventive, but the quality and flavoring of the food is really lacking.
Good was good (except for dry chicken), but service was very slow.
Brought a dear friend visiting from out of town here for Sunday brunch at 11am. The service was terrible. For context: we sat on the patio, and there were only four other tables occupied in the whole restaurant (two outside, two inside). It took almost twenty minutes for our server to take our drink order. Thirty minutes after being seated, my coffee arrived, and without cream, which took an additional
5 minutes to arrive. Then my friend’s salad arrived before his Bloody Mary and my mimosa. Painfully slow and disjointed. Then my food arrived wrong. Perfect. Such a distracting and irritating experience. I was embarrassed to have brought my friend here, and I won’t be returning. What happened to their professional standard? They didn’t even get the basics right.
Wonderful experience. We went for a birthday dinner. Not only was the food exquisite, but the service was top notch and we had a nice birthday dessert. Highly recommend!
Suboptimal food! Ordered escargot which was ok, but the $41 ribeye steak is at diner quality level. Not worth it.
Great service and great food. We went here for our anniversary celebration our Romanian waitress is so nice made our experience wonderful! We will definitely be back!
Amazing food beautifully prepared. It was luxurious. Service was impeccable and staff appropriately friendly. Our glasses never went empty.
Whether it's restaurant week or an important dinner meeting DCBG never disappoints. Food and service is always impeccable.
We took advantage of the opportunity to dine at DBGB for the first time during Restaurant week, on Sunday 8/18.
We are so glad we did. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the corn soup and tomato salad, the branzino(so well cooked), and our dessert was the key lime sundae. The ambiance of the place is very nice. The music added to the ambiance (top soul tunes from the past we LOVED). Ordered cocktails that were well made by a very friendly bartender ( husband's "high noon" and my "DB Cosmo"). What a lovely dinner experience. WE WILL RETURN!!
Came here for restaurant week and was not disappointed!
This review is for brunch. We were a group of 8 and all ordered different items on the menu, everything was great, the service even better. Highly recommend the egg Florentine. Will definitely return.
Food is consistently good and so is the service. We've been there several times.
What a treat!! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to DBGB DC. This was our first time—definitely not our last. Thank you!!
Everything very good (apart from the beer menu)
We had noon reservations for 6 and arrived right at noon and were seated immediately. We ordered at around 12:10 and received our food nearly an hour later. At no time were we approached with an explanation. Once, at around 12:40, then again at 1:00 we asked how much longer it would be before our meals were ready and we’re told both times that the kitchen was backed up and it would be right out.
A “medium rare” steak was served well done. A “medium well” burger was served rare. The “mixed greens” that were to accompany the steak was a charred half head of lettuce. The rest of the food was delicious (rock fish, salmon, a couple other dishes that needed to be wolfed down since we hadn’t planned on a 2-hour lunch). The kombucha was delicious.
Desserts that were ordered at the same time as our meals took another 20 minutes. The manager delivered the check when we asked for it and told us the kitchen was overwhelmed that day and gave me a 15% off coupon to be used in the next 30 days. $240 for 6 people and 2 hours later...Hard pass.
Our office building is across the street and this was the first and last time we’ll have lunch there.
We dined on a Restaurant Week menu. My companions had a lovely cold corn soup, I had the farro salad, also delicious. My branzino was perfectly cooked, with a crispy skin, and moist flesh. The little apricot tarts were delightful and my husband got the key lime pie-raspberry dessert was even better!
Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a high-end, perfectly cooked French food.
We’ve dined here on several occasions and have never been disappointed in the least. The staff pay special attention to your needs and requests. They do everything well.
This place is way overpriced for mediocre food. I ordered the burger and it was meh. I ordered it medium and received a burger that was well done. The burger was also $22 before tax and tip. There’s a reason this place gets bad reviews on yelp. Never going again.
The food was excellent and the server very good and friendly. We felt a little hurried as they brought the main course before we were finished with our first courses.
Enjoyed our Restaurant Week dinner there - all 3 courses were delicious. Service was great from the host to the server to the sommelier. Highly recommend!
Went for restaurant week. It was amazing. I had the Bronzino. Best ever!
Perhaps because I was dining alone, DBGB tried to seat me in the bar altho there was plenty of space in both the main and secondary dining rooms. I had the salmon mousse (somewhat bland), branzino, and ice cream from the Restaurant Week menu - all generous servings, nicely presented.
Since I'm a light eater, just a little too rich. A nice treat in a pretty setting.
All round good experience
Iva was such a spectacular waitress. She made sure that our Wedding Anniversary was spectacular. She’s the best!!! The food was amazing and the white cosmo cocktail was my absolute favorite. Excellent restaurant!!!
Jack was our initial server and he provided attentive service, cognizant of our allergies and the food was timely coming out. However, he left to go home with no notice and the new server Iva came through without an introduction until we asked. Our party was essentially rushed because she stated how much she "needed to get home," brought our check and to-go boxes prematurely, and checked 3 times within five minutes whether we had signed or not before we began eating our dessert. We don't appreciate being rushed, and at the price point of the menu & restaurant location there are far more desirable eateries that will provide stellar service otherwise.
