This was our first time at D. B. A. The food was amazing, our server was friendly and attentive, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We will definitely be back!
We were crammed into a small room with three tables. The special was never said, until I asked. Our server brought my husbands drink out and took our order. We waited about 20 minutes with no water refills - that is all I had because I was pregnant and sat there with an empty glass. Another server came over and said sorry we haven’t taken your order, when we ready had our order in. There was so much confusion with the service staff. We never got our bread, when our server said it was put in the oven when we got our food -must have caught on fire. Never had our server come back and asked how our food was. Overall the food was good, but the service was beyond awful - they weren’t even busy! I would not recommend this restaurant!! Probably won’t be back again.
Cozy, quiet restaurant. Our server, Cody was very good at explaining everything since we
had not been there before. The food was excellent and prepared as the menu stated. We got
complimentary wine since it was a wedding anniversary. Very pleased with the whole experience.
We met friends here before attending a concert at EJ Thomas Hall. It was early, but the restaurant section was already filling up. Nevertheless, the acoustics were fine; we had no trouble conversing. My wife enjoyed her oversized cocktail and Cody was a competent waiter, attentive but never intrusive. The charcuterie was excellent, generous, varied, and delicious. My serving of scallops was generous, but a bit sandier than I expected. My wife's steak was excellent. We may well return.
I had the bolognese and it was about the best I have ever eaten. Also had their Manhattan and it was wicked good. If a Manhattan is made well, the bourbon and vermouth need to be properly balanced or it just ruins the drink. It was spot on.
A great, romantic atmosphere. Attentive, professional service. Outstanding meals. Dessert was only OK, but everything else was perfect.
Delicious and nice!
Good Scallops and great service, provided a Charcuterie board at no cost. Good experience overall
The food was delicious. The service was outstanding. And the drinks were great, new spins on old favorites.
Pork belly served cold
Veal chop, overcooked. Waiter, Travis, was gorgeous and professional
One of the best meals I have ever had. Everything paired perfectly halibut with spaghetti squash; salty sweet purée a few pomegranate seeds just right amount of sweet/tart. It was amazing
I had a good meal here. Started with French Onion soup on special. Among the best I have ever eaten. Perfect temperature and the right amount of broth and onion. Covered with a clever crisp Gruyere wafer instead of the horrible glop of melted cheese most places leave on top. The Ceaser salad was a disappointment. The dressing was way over the top on garlic and the small dark croutons tasteless The braised beef short rib with sweet peas, butternut squash puree and sweet potato gnocchi was OUTSTANDING. Among the best dishes of its kind I have ever eaten out. The server was friendly and attentive but untrained on wince service. He emptied a bottle of Henriot Champagne into 4 flutes like he was pouring our tap water. He filled all the glasses to the rim so he could empty the bottle right then after he opened it! No excuse for such a lack of training in a restaurant of this caliber. He did a nice job pouring a 2007' Mayacamas Cabernet I brought but we did not ask for decanting as I was afraid it would be botched. The dinner was almost ruined by a some idiot(s) who decided it was ok to bring their ill-behaved toddler here who literally screamed for almost 2 hours straight. If the kid was much nearer to us I would have left or asked the manager to ask them to leave. Parents, your kids do not belong at a $100 a head dinner establishment on Saturday night! If you cannot get a sitter stay home. If you feel too guilty because you have been at work all week than stay home as well. Do not ruin dinner for the rest of us by bringing your out of control brat with you.
This kid was a great argument for bringing back spanking! I will go again and hope the next time its adults only.
i really enjoyed my dinner at D.B.A. i had the Scallops off the main menu and it was fantastic. Quite honestly, the Chef is very talented and would love to come back someday to try other meals on the menu
Food was very disappointing for a Dante restaurant. My burger was ordered medium well. Came out rare. Took back but returned only slightly better and did not ask if any better. I think waitress was embarresed. Other meals just so so. Nothing special at all.
DBA is one of our regular, go-to places in Akron. Professional, attentive service without being intrusive. A creative menu that allows you to customize your entree to your preference. Excellent cocktails. Wish they had beer on tap, but a good selection of bottled beer. Nice patio for drinks during the warmer weather months.
Always a great time at D.B.A.'s. One of our favorite date night spots for high quality food and drinks with a great atmosphere.
Visiting from DC- An incredibly lucky find for dinner in Akron!
I had scheduled reservation but got their earlier, they were able to seat us right away with window seat . Ambiance is very romantic and quiet. The staff was very friendly and our waiter did an amazing job, very professional and exactly what you would think walking in. The courses came out a little slower than we'd like but the food was absolutely delicious! Worth the wait, and a bottle of wine helps as they have a very good selection.
Great appetizer, my date loved her food, my steak was absolutely amazing, MINUS I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked on all levels of the temp scale, the center was way over done. Didn't ruin my experience was something to pay attention to.
We came to D.B.A. for Valentine’s Day and it was wonderful and worth every penny.
Great food and service!
great menu, great service and very reasonable price for the quality it is a bit noisy for conversation
This place never disappoints! Great service, amazing food, outstanding atmosphere !
I highly recommend it for anything from a intimate date night to a group gathering.
Another excellent meal. We took friends that have never been to DBA and they loved it. Looking forward to going back. The food is great and the service perfect. Summer is a great time to visit due to the fun outdoor seating.
We went here for a date. The service was impeccable and the host was very professional and courteous. The food was absolutely outstanding.
Service was very poor. For a party of three, it took 40 minutes for our drink order to come out and around an hour and 30 minutes for our food to come out. In total, our dining stay was over 2 hours for three people with one drink and dinner. We have been to Dante’s other restaurants and the service and food have typically been fantastic. Overall, very poor dining experience at this location.
We ordered the Salmon and the scallops both were too sweet! The risotto didn’t have any flavor. We paid $30 for each meal.
We liked the waitress. I can’t remember her name. I know she was new.
Probably will not return
My husband and I had dined here before so thought we would go for New Years. We looked on the website and didn’t see anything saying there would be a special menu. When we got there it was a very limited menu and $110.00 per couple. The portion sizes were small which for this type of restaurant seems to be the norm but it wasn’t worth $55.00. We would go back but not for New Years.
Very nice leisurely dinner with friends , server was great very attentive. Food was great , good drink selection also . A lot of private little nooks . Was a large gas fire just outside the window by our table !
The night was perfect. Really enjoyed the drinks, meal and dessert. The four of us shared everything and raved about each meal. We will be definitely bringing more friends here.
Wonderful as always! DBA continues to be my favorite restaurant in Akron. We brought another couple from out of town and they loved it as well. Our server was Ally (we have had her before) and she was excellent!! From the great service to the delicious food, you know that DBA is doing something right. Fresh bread and hummus are complimentary and very good. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and our glasses were never empty. Highly recommend and a big thank you to Ally for her awesome service!!
The food and service were fine, though the food needed a bit of seasoning. However, the table we sat at was very small and near the door so that everytime the door opened for a guest or the valet, freezing air (literally) washed over us and our food. Also, the table next to us was seperated only by a few inches and a thin white curtain. We were practically dining together, which was not ideal for a date.
Great food and service. Really appreciated the ambiance too.
DBA has become MUCH TOO NOISY FOR MY TASTE. We were at a beautiful table for two at the front window, but the noise from adjoining tables and especially the bar area was unbearable . Our waiter could barely hear us to ask questions. It is a shame that the young professionals that frequent nice restaurants don't know what "professional" means. It does NOT include lack of consideration for everyone else in the establishment. I was sorry we went to DBA.
Food was delicious and our service was excellent. Looking forward to dining here again soon.
Great menu with staples and seasonal changes. Great service!
Side dishes were cold
Food is exceptional. The décor and theme of the restaurant is awesome! We enjoy sitting at the bar, but sitting at the tables is very cozy also.
For years this was one of my favorite spots in Akron. The 21 vegetable salad is one of the most interesting starters you could come across anywhere. Overall, however, this is a place that has certainly lost its luster. There haven’t been any significant menu changes in years, the tables have a gummy residue, and the cocktail and wine list is uninspiring. Even the bathroom is looking a bit beat up. It seems as though they are at an inflection point where the question is, Do we spend the money and revamp the physical plant, update the menu and reinvigorate the staff or do we just let this slowly die on the vine and say we had a good run as a cosmopolitan restaurant in a small city? I hope it’s the former, but I’m not sure.
Celebrated my birthday with friends at D.B.A. Food and service were amazing! Highly recommend.
